- I recommend headers, an aftermarket replacement cat with the largest input and output that you can find and 2 1/2 to 3 inch tubing. I noticed a great improvement in torque when I changed out the original system that was in my mine. Exhaust sound is a personnal option that you need to research. Even without headers you'll notice a big difference over the OEM system.

- Stock. You can go and waste 800-1000 dollars on a full exhaust system, and the best benefit you'll get from it, is maybe 10 wheel horsepower. Under ideal circumstances. In which case, you will still have a non-performance ZX3, which now sounds louder and more annoying.

- Don't listen to Rick. You can't just throw on bigger is better parts. Your car will suffer if you do this. A stock Z, along with every other car, needs back pressure. Putting a larger exhaust makes less restrictive flow. The larger the exhaust that you put on, the less back pressure. From a practical standpoint, this means that the larger the exhaust, the better your car will perform when you are flooring it. However, you are going to destroy your low-end and mid-range powerband for this. Getting a different exhaust isn't freeing up power that the engineers at the factory locked, it is just shifting the powerband around. Go too large, and the car will not be any fun to drive around town, and honestly you will barely increase your top-end power.
- Q: Hi, I have a 1994 Buick Skylark Limited. The exhaust/Muffler/system hasn‘t been changed yet for the most part. Over the past 5 months, the car has been getting louder, and running worse. Some things that happen is that the Car‘s Idle is Real Rough and unstable, the car will randomly Stall, and the muffler is quite loud. It also takes around 3 seconds of holding the ignition turned to keep the car on. When I come to a stop or slow down near stop lights, it bogs. The car also has a hard time Accelerating now.Most of the time I use the car, it‘s short trips less than 10 miles. It sits outside, and it was a harsh winter. This problem has been getting worse over the last 5 or so months, and it‘s at the point where I need something looked at.Does this sound like a specific problem with the exhaust system, Do i need to change the whole system, or only one or 2 parts ?Thanks to who replies
- Try a complete tune-up, and have your catalytic converter checked, it may be clogged if the exhaust is that old.
