- Q: I‘m redoing my exhaust system for my 1996 Mazda MX-6.I just want to make it a straight pipe with a glass pack (to tone it) instead of muffler to make it sound loud. I like loud.Anyways there is a long resonator right after my catalytic converter. My friend says it‘s for both noise and emission control and I can‘t pass smog without it. I said it‘s just for noise control and it‘s muffling the sound of my little rice burner.I want to take it off and make my car sound like a mean lean rice burning machine, but I want it to be able to pass smog.So is it for both emission and sound control, or just sound? Is taking it off a good idea?
- For the best answers, search on this site shorturl.im/axvr3 Honda resonators are part of about a five foot section of exhaust. Obviously it's called the resonator assembly. It bolts on the front of the resonator to the back of the catalytic converter and on the back of the resonator, it bolts to the rear muffler assembly. If the bolts aren't rusted you can do this yourself, figure around 110 for the part and gaskets.
- Q: My gas dryer in my apt takes too long to dry and I wonder if an electric one would work better. Anything to avoid having to go through the wall exhaust vent I have now and apparently can‘t be unclogged fully
- The exhaust vent shouldn't be clogged with anything whether you have an electric or a gas dryer. Both have to be vented outside, but especially a gas dryer MUST be vented through the wall in order that Carbon Monoxide doesn't leak into your home. You should have a lint trap on the dryer which needs to be cleaned out after EVERY use. If there's llint clogging the vent hose, the hose needs to be detached from either the wall or the dryer, and clean it out properly. Once you get that done, if your dryer still doesn't work better, then you may have to get a new dryer. BTW, all lint traps should be rinsed with water after cleaning off the lint. There is a residue left on the mesh that can ignite if it isn't cleaned properly. (gas or electric dryers).
- Q: Any recommendations? especially for the exhaust system
- Midas is good for the exhaust system, as for the general repair of the car it might be a good thing to invest in some tools and a manual for most of the work that will need to be done.
- Q: which exhaust system for a corvette?
- No exhaust system alone will ever give you the sound of a cammed LS engine. Hence i put cammed as in camshaft look it up, get a professional to spec one out for you. Pay a shop to install or if you have enough skill/knowledge do it yourself and save labor. After that you will have to get a professional tune, and is you want to sound like those after that then you will need an exhaust system or a muffler and no cats. Your looking at around $4-$500 for just the cam, another $400 for the tuning services, and about $1000 for a decent exhaust systems that;s not even including headers that can range from $500-1300. And remember none of this is including labor except the tune. Good luck
- Q: I have a 1996 Jeep Cherokee Country 4wd 4.0L 6cyl. I was told I need a whole new exhaust system and it would be $1,000 at the shop. I was hoping to buy the parts and have a mechanic friend put it together. What do I need? I know I need a Muffler, Tail Pipe (is that the same as an exhaust pipe?), and a Catalytic Converter. I‘m sure there‘s more so if you could please tell me that way I can get an idea how much it is to fix in parts alone. Best Answer gets 10 points, thanks!!

- Q: I am looking for a complete exhaust system for a 1998 escort lx sedan! Anyone? I have found headers but having issues finding the rest *especially a cold air intake* Now I‘ve seen escorts just like mine with all this done.so don‘t tell me it impossible! lol
- well kandn should have a cold air intake and you would think flowmaster or charryboom would have the exhaust but it mit me a custom job to im sure if you got the money someones got the time.
- Q: I have a 2008 Honda CRF250R.It has stock exhaust at the moment.I was thinking of getting an aftermarket exhaust system.I am looking for more power and for it to be louder, as I have no sound limit for the MX track I own. Will a single or Dual muffler give me more power and noise?PLEASE CAN NOBODY GET CRAPPED OFF AT ME FOR WANTING A LOUD MUFFLER! I OWN MY OWN MX TRACK! NOBODY LIVES ANYWHERE NEAR IT AND THERE IS NO NOISE RESTRICTIONS!!!ANYBODY WHO TELLS ME THAT I SHOULD GET A QUIET MUFFLER SHOULD BE SHOT BECAUSE I AM MAKING IT VERY CLEAR THAT NOBODY CARES IF THERE IS LOUD BIKES WHERE I RIDE!!!!!!
- dont forget, the stock system was designed for the bike, creates backpressure necessary for low end torque. Alot of exhaust systems claim 2-5hp gains, but, they are usually at the top end, and even though its a dirt bike, and youre usually out screamin on it, it still going to be noticeable to you that you lose some low end grunt. youre going to be looking at getting the pipes, getting a free flowing air cleaner/system of some type, and retune to make it all work well. I would stay w the single, its just personal pref. Also, if you go slip on, those yield no gainyoud have to go w a full header and can for a gain.
- Q: I own a 2008 Dodge Avenger SXT. I absolutely love my vehicle but I would like to make some changes to it. I‘m not very familiar with how a new exhaust system works or how much it will cost me, for that matter. Basically, I would like my car to be louder and sound meaner if it‘s possible. I have been told to get a new exhaust system, perhaps a dual? I have also been told about Cherry Bombs, but I‘m not sure i even know what they are. I would love to make my car louder but I‘ve been read these changes can cause a lose of torque/power. Is this true? If I can do this, what is an estimate it will cost? Help.
- Custom exhaust systems don't come cheap. It's a foolish thing to do anyway. Chances are that it will never pass an exhaust emissions test ever again, and it draws attention to yourself. Do you want the police to notice you a lot? Plan on spending over $1000. easily. Here's a cheaper thing to do. cut away the original muffler, and replace it with a straight-through glass pack muffler. It sounds tough, and it might even be legal where you are.
- Q: I have a 2007 v6 mustang and I recently got a Pypes true dual exhaust kit making it, dual exhaust from the stock single exhaust and giving it a much better sound.i can see the mpg I get on the dash and I was used to seeing 16-19 but when I looked it said 13.8. I have had the exhaust for less them a week and sure, I‘m being a little harder on the gas to hear the noise but a loss in mpg is a lot to lose just to be a little harder on the pedal.my hypothesis is that I am losing back pressure/force because the air is coming out two pipes instead of one, but I am no car expert at all.why is this happening? and how can I fix it?
- If you have been heavy on the throttle, that is all it takes. I owned a SHO that could average 27 mpg, but if I got on it the MPG's would drop to half of that. As for back pressure, not. A change in resonance, yes. This affects savaging of the cylinders, the better this is done the more fresh air mixture is used to fill the cylinder on the intake cycle.
- Q: I have a 2008 civic and have heard that a muffler or exhaust system can boost power and efficiency.I want to install one of these on my car but don‘t want that ****** ricer noise. Would getting a quiet flow muffler do anything or do I need to get a whole new system
- I've a Jeep Liberty with the 3.7L engine and it has a Flowmaster super 44 on it. Sounds like a V8 on begin up and idle, as well as in low RPMs. But when you get into larger RPMs it starts to sound kind of ricey. However the sound is one hundred times as agressive as it used to be inventory. Valued at the cash imo. I would look at videos on YouTube of Challengers with exhaust before so which you can understand what you would like.
