Q: what is a catback exhaust system?
a cat back exhaust is when they replace all components of the exhaust from the catalytic convertor all the way to the back of the car.
Q: Pros? Cons? What do they do?
Lubromollyyou can get it from Bavarian Auto Sport. It keeps the fuel from gelling in the tank, and the injectors clean.
Q: Is this a do it yourself job? I‘m not totally new to cars but I‘ve never worked with exhaust.
lol sounds like fun i hope my high school has that, but i don't think it's a good class for college, it's more recreational. other than finding out how the clay bakes or whatever
Q: Hi, I have a ford ranger 54 reg 2.5td supercab and i want to make it sound awesome. But i have no clue what to get to make it sound nice. Could i just buy a muffler or would i have to get a new exhaust or just buy a new back box? Would it be expensive and easy to put on? Can universal exhaust systems, muffler, back boxes fit on a ford ranger or would i have to buy specific parts for the truck (customised)?Does anyone have suggestions for parts and internet webites (preferbly uk postage)? Do performance exhausts make it a lot faster with a awesome sound? Thanks a lot, Joe
For the best answers, search on this site shorturl.im/aybfo Whats good Frum! Im going to go with the Vol 1. Ive always liked the Rasco track - unassisted. Charizma's cut was another one of my favorites. Kool Keith, J Live, Mr Complex, Co-Flow, Camp Lo quite a nice verity.
Q: Years parts are interchangeable?
It will increase milage, as it will make more efficient combustion depending on how you load it. If you Set up for 600 HP on demand you are going to get 3 to 4 miles per gallon. Intercoolers increase efficiency. its up to you how you make it work if you have computer controlled engines. IE, if you target for 100 HP you will get better milage. if you use fixed ratios yeah, its going to cost you. (either way your maintainace costs are going to go up dramatically)
Q: its a 4 door but im still trying to make it look really nice Im looking for an exhaust thats really affordable and worth the money something to add a lil more horse power and add a muscle sound to it where would be a good place to go i live in Bakersfield California thank you(:
not sure where you should go in cali. but check into purple horny exhaust and thrush they are cheap and have a great sound i think i have thrush on my 78 ford truck and it sounds good but i live in michigan so it is a little more relaxed on the laws for exhaust here
Q: prior vehicle would pick up speed with a quickness, now that i install the flowmaster exhaust system. it doesnt pick up speed as quick. Is this normal? What could i do for it to pick up speed with a quickness?
Your exhaust is no longer under the 5/70 power train warrenty. So it don't matter what you put on it. It will not void your power train warrenty because your not modifeing the engine. If it was mine I'd go with headers and cat back duel. You'll pick up about 30 HP and get another 5 miles to the gallon of gas.
Q: Alright, i need a little help here. So I‘m going to give an example so that I can get a remedy to my questions. Thank you for your help! :DSo lets say you have a 1 inch exhaust system all throughout that can let out 10 litres a second (Thats pretty standard, right? I think.), and you‘re using a 1.3l 4 cylinder engine, and you‘re chugging along at 2000 RPM.So to my understanding;2000 RPM / 4 RPM (Ever 4 RPM all 4 cylinders have had one exhaust stroke) 500 RPM / 60 (I need the per second rate) 8.3 RPM x 1.3litres 10.8litres per secondSo clearly this set up has some back pressure equivalent to .8 litres a second since the exhaust can only handle 10 litres per second. Now I KNOW I‘m wrong since I‘m missing a few things; Speed of the gasses, how many RPMs it takes for all 4 cylinders to go throughout an exhaust stroke (I think I‘m wrong), and how to convert litres into psi, and what psi is needed to create a scavenging affect.
Statements: Cylinder capacity is the swept capacity, and can be expressed in liters That is the bore area times the length of the stroke times the number of cylinders All four cylinders exhaust once every two revolutions. (See engine displacement at pedia.) Your 500 RPM divided by 60 is wrong. It is not 500 RPM, but 1000 exhausts per minute. And that number is multiplied by 60 to get exhausts per second, not divided by 60. So, for every 2000 revolutions you get 1000 times four exhausts. Now things get complicated. The total cylinder volume is not 1.3, but 1.3 plus the volume of the head space. The engine needs space for the sparkplug penetration and for valve movement. We do not know at what pressure the exhaust system handles 10 liters per second, nor how much back pressure are willing to have Air comes in at some unknown temperature. It is heated in the cylinder, so when it is released it expands. We do not know the temperature of the exhaust gas. Added to the new volume is the volume of gas generated by the combustion process. There are too many unknown variables to allow us to generate a formula. In engine design, bench testing determines the numbers you are looking for.
Q: Can put a dual exhaust system in my V6 02 Dodge Ram?
Any muffler shop can equip your truck with a dual exhaust system and yes, it will probably run better. The problem is, especially if you live in a strict smog state like California or New Jersey, you will have a hard time getting the vehicle to pass inspection. For a true dual you'll need 2 catalytic converters, possibly two air pumps and of course 2 mufflers. For better midrange, you'll want them to install an H pipe between the left and right sides. And you'll want to install large diameter tubing - at least 2 stainless. This whole setup will not be cheap. I would stick with the single exhaust, but upgrade the cat to a high performance model, sold at most speed shops. These run about $100. You can also install a low-restriction muffler, such as a Flowmaster which will sound nice and cut back pressure a lot. Your truck's ECU should be able to handle the change in backpressure and adjust the air/fuel mixture fine preventing a lean condition. If legal, you can route the exhaust out the side in front of the rear tire for an even cooler look, like NASCAR trucks. Good luck.
Q: I recently got into a fender bender in my 2006 Pontiac g6.the damage isnt that bad at all and I am ordering all the replacment parts soon.however, looking at all these parts has made me want to throw a cool exhaust system on my car.i am not a big car guy at all uld someone tell me a good and affordable exhaust system that would make my car sound cool and also let my engine breath a little better? much obliged for your help
most exhaust systems for a stock G6 are just going to end up sounding hollow and weak, especially since it's probably an automatic. my best advice would be to go to KN's website and get a short ram intake, it'll give your engine a deeper and louder sound. they usually cost around $200+, but that's better than spending over $500 for an exhaust system.
