Q: I have a ‘96 Ford Probe that is missing the middle part of the exhaust system. I have the opportunity to purchase a ‘95 Probe and swap out the exhaust. How ‘practical‘ is it to do this with the help of another guy? Are any special tools required?(I believe it would be disconnected from the engine, correct?)Thanks for any insight you can provide!!!
Depending on if the engines are the same, it is possible. Depending on what is actually missing, you won't need to take out the whole exhaust. The exhaust system is put together in sections, and is not usually one solid part.
Q: I want a loud exhaust system for my truck and i need some help in figuring out what to get.
you probably won't be able to reset the sensor. most have to be programmed and it takes a special tool. although some are programmable from the dash and some reset themselves this is not the common kind. is the $350 with a new wheel and tire? if it is it's not that bad a price. if you change it yourself you still have to mount the tire after you install the sensor.
Q: I want to buy an after market exhaust system for my car, but out of every search I‘ve made I cannot find one that will fit my 93‘ Acura Integra gs-r b17a1.
Integra. Manual inventory because the Integra is Lite, the auto'sbody isn't chubby the Eclipse is considered chubby. And the Ls B-18 is a brilliant breed of jap engineering.Go for the Integra when you pressure a Honda/air of mystery your an extra breed of person.Eclipse appears very sporty but the Integra appears simple the engine just isn't complicated and but its a very good tuned DOHC engineGO FOR AN ACURA first-rate Motoring
Q: If these are worn can they cause my exhaust to rattle?
there called exhaust hangers and if there worn they could be loose and causing your exhaust to rattle.
Q: I own a 05' Chevy Monte Carlo 3.8 3800 and I have the 2 dual pipes all factory with the mufflers, but I wanted to put the (Magnaflow exhaust)set up on it.Do i need to change everything or can I just change the mufflers and put the chrome stainless steel tips on there? or do I have to change the whole entire set up?What's an estimate of the cost?
Temps should be somewhere between 78 and 85 degrees fahrenheit.
Q: I have a ‘94 F-150 and I just noticed that the muffler has holes and the rest of it is in bad condition so I am going to replace it all. The previous owners got aftermarket exhaust and it is all welded on. The Haynes manual can‘t tell me how to do it because the stock exhaust was clamped on. Thanks!
hacksaw,sawzall,torch,big hammer
Q: If so which one would you reccomendI drive 44 miles a day on the thruway from to school and back
Lots of people have made the same mistake and wondered why their engine performed worse after the change. The source has a very good explanation of why you can expect poorer performance and fuel efficiency with a larger exhaust. What it boils down to is you want the exhaust to be the same size (including the same cross-sectional area through the passages of the catalytic converter) as the collector size. After the muffler you can go bigger but it makes no difference. Before Corporate Average Fuel Economy standards were introduced in 1978 many manufacturers used substandard exhausts - whatever was cheapest. CAFE changed the economics so even tiny improvements in fuel economy were worth a lot of RD and quite a bit of production cost. All modern cars are engineered to provide the best fuel economy they can get.
Q: . and what are it‘s benefits and disadvantages as opposed to a standard exhaust system?
Full Exhaust includes the exhaust manifold, usually replacing it with headers, and the catalytic converter which is usually replaced with a high flow unit or removed completely and includes a cat-back system. Cat Back systems are muffler and piping only. The muffler is replaced by a high flow unit and the piping is usually bigger to flow more air. A standard system is simply the factory installed or OEM system. The more air you flow through a motor, the more power you can make. You can't take in more air than you can blow out, so the bigger and less restrictive your exhaust, the better. The muffler and cat are where most of the restrictions are. These are each worth about 4-5 horsepower when replaced. A header and bigger pipes are just gravy and might get you another 2-3 hp.on a naturally aspirated engine. Exhaust has a huge impact on turbocharged engines, where you want to go as big as possible.
Q: i want to put a aftermarket exhaust system on my car but is it illegal in san francisco, california? and do the chp pick on cars that look jdm more??
California has emission laws. It is illegal to change some stuff, but if you pass the emission tests, it is legal. And the cops will not pull you over just for that, most are to dumb to know what to look for. But if you do get caught it is a big fine. Two ways to beat the system. One, register the car in a state that doesn't have emission testing. Or, two be a friend with a cop and get the safety sticker and emission stuff taken care of. I was in the military and although not green friendly I have done both of these and had no problems when I got stopped.
Q: Anyone know of companies that make any type (full, cat-back, etc.) of exhaust system for a Chevy 4.1L I6?
the suitable way would be to circulate to the library,so twentieth century, and get e book on exhaust layout i don't submit to in techniques names off any I stumbled on yet, they get very technical with the suitable layout.
