The 2nd half joins after the catalysts by screwing the flanges together and putting a seal in-between. The first half is the most expensive because of the catalytic converters so have the vehicle raised and the exhaust closely examined to see what is required.

The old one can come off either by bolts holding it on to a flange at both ends. Or a muffler shop can cut it off and weld a new converter in its place.

Should you decide to buy, you must be specific in model to make sure it will fit. Exhaust system are different from V^ engine manual to automatic transmissions.
