Q: i have a 400ex and i just wanted something to pep it up a little and make it sound better/louder
Any leak in copper tubing arises from faulty installation, and it is almost always a bad solder joint. Repairing these can be a *****, because you have to get all of the water out of the pipe before you can do it.
Q: Kitchen bathroom vertical exhaust system which division works
If you are referring to the kitchen of the smoke channel, it belongs to the housing itself construction project. If you are referring to the kitchen and toilet exhaust, it is your own decoration works.
Q: I want an exhaust system for my camaro that has a low, aggressive sound but also not insanely expensive. Preferably under $600. Thanks
Just say no to glasspacks on LS1's! I would save a little more money up over the next several months, and get a Borla cat back system for the car. Its not necessarily insanely expensive, but it ain't the cheapie system, either. Flowmaster is good, but razzy in comparison to the Borla. In deference to the other posts, Magnaflow is good, and I even had a Magnaflow on my 2nd gen Camaro, but it isn't the best note. Remember also - you're talking about an exhaust SYSTEM, not just the muffler - you'll want the mandrel bent pipes and proper fitment under your fourth gen. The Borla system is the best combination of quality and sound, and worth the extra few dollars. Cheaping out on your car's exhaust now will only disappoint you later - don't be tempted to go for something a little less just because you can afford it!
Q: I know this question has been asked a billion times all over the internet. But different vehicles/engines sound different/better. I have a chrysler 318 engine in my dakota. I have been leaning towards flowmaster since my friend has flowmaster on his 87 camaro iroc z and it has that loud deep tone that i like. But do any of you have different opinions?
I had a cherry bomb on mine with no cat. sounded pretty good for a v6. lol
Q: I want an exhaust thats nice and low-sounding for my del sol, not that annoying ricer sound. are they really nice and quiet? anything about these exhausts would help really. Thanks a bunch
Simply, NO Tanabe racing exhausts are not the low tone you are looking for. The tanabe medallion is very loud and will set off car alarms all around you. If you don't belive me I will send you my written violations for loud exhaust and disturbing the peace. I do not recommend them unless you want to be heard by everyone.
Q: I have a 1977 Buick Riviera. The muffler and part of the cat back pipe have rotted through and fallen off. I know I can go to a muffler shop and have an exhaust custom built, but I really don‘t want to spend a lot of money since I don‘t have it. Do I have any other options?
Go down to your local automotive salvage yards (junkyard) to buy replacement parts for your exhaust system. Compatible GM models are very easy to find at most yards. About a week ago I bought an entire exhaust system (except manifolds) for a friends car (1989 Camaro) from one of my local junkyards for only $35
Q: My exhaust system backfires. it consists of headers, pipes, and mufflers. i have been told that the back fire in the exhaust system (not the carb) would be caused by air in the pipes because of poor welds. i have also heard that an H pipe is the correct way of exhaust work, instead of two isolated straight pipes.is either reason right? aftermarket carb, bypassing emissions controls, ‘84 305 K5 Blazer.
Sure. Totally normal.
Q: How does changing the exhaust system in a car give you more power?
Changing to a less restrictive exhaust system means the engine can move more volume through it in less time, which equals more power, usually.
Q: My vehicle is non turbo, and i wanted to know if I can install an exhaust system from a wrx, or the layout of the engine is different?
When the first models start getting up around 100,000 miles is when any weaknesses will start to show.
Q: I want a duel exhaust system on my mx3. it is a four cylinder engine, with a full stock system on it. I want to know if I can have a dual exhaust system put on, and if so what would be the pros and cons of doing such?
Have you ever looked at your car from underneath? It would be a good idea to become familiar with where things are under your car. I'm not sure about a MX-3, but my FC3S RX-7 has the appropriate hangar locations for dual exhaust. I believe that you should get your car up on 4 jack stands (not just a jack, that would be VERY stupid and dangerous). Don't try to take the easy way out and use ramps either. It only takes a nudge to make a car roll back down them. Once it is safely supported by 4 jack stands in the proper locations (consult your owners manual or a good MX-3 Forum for details), slide under the back and follow where the exhaust pipe goes (a cold engine is a good idea for this, to prevent burns). Then look at the opposite side for a mirror-image of what the exhaust pipe is attached to. If it is a mirror image like it is on my RX-7, it should be pretty easy to do duals. The plus to dual exhaust is less backpressure if done correctly, but it means adding some weight to the car. Usually, it's less than 30lbs more, depending on where the Y-pipe will be and how the exhaust system is routed in general. I'd still recommend asking your fellow MX-3 owners though, since they would know more than I would about your specific application.
