- Q: How much would it cost for a basic exhaust ( pipes and muffler )? A mid-level exhaust? The best exhaust system? Explain the difference in quality, performance, and how long each can last.
- It all depends. The first thing that's important in picking an exhaust is what metal it's made of. 304 stainless steel is one of the better metals to have and often times they are covered by million mile or similar warranties. 409 stainless steel is cheaper but be warned that 409 is more likely to rust but may still hold a 10 year warranty. Aluminized steel is about as cheap as it gets but it's even more likely to rust than 409 and may have as much as a 3 year warranty from what I've seen. I would estimate most mufflers will set you back around $100-150 for stainless and $50-75 for aluminized. I got my Magnaflow for $90 with some luck at advance auto during a sale.
- Q: Which First Catback Exhaust system or Short ram air intake?
- When my motorcycle falls over the carb' and points are sometimes fouled. Fuel injection engines such as the KTM 500 eliminate this problem.
- Q: I want to get a better sound out of my bike but I don‘t want to buy a jet kit or a high price muffler and intake system. My question; Can I just remove all the filler from my stock muffler to get a deeper tone? I keep reading that if I don‘t get a jet kit while increasing my exhaust flow that I could damage valves, but that doesn‘t seem plausible considering that everything I am reading says that having a more open exhaust increases EGT (Exhaust Gas Temp), but common sense would tell you that having a better air flow would cool it down right?? I‘m not looking for a performance upgrade because I‘m on a Hyosung GT250R and it‘s not like I‘ll get that much out of it. I just want a louder and little bit deeper tone, is that too much to ask without spending $800?
- Good info given, assuming your bike is a 'carb' model. If it's fuel injection it's some what of a different situation. Ask your local bike make dealer for more info or if there is a web site for the owners club, post a question there. I changed pretty much most of my exhaust system with no problem and it's fuel injection so no messing about re-jetting. Hope this helps a bit.
- Q: New car exhaust pipe to discharge some water, what reason
- The reason for the exhaust of the car exhaust pipe is mainly because the car has a three-way catalytic converter, is an important part of the car exhaust silencer system, its main function is to purify and eliminate harmful gases in the exhaust gas, the harmful gas conversion For the nitrogen, carbon dioxide and water vapor, water vapor through the middle muffler and tail pipe condensed into water, in the tail pipe discharge.
- Q: I‘ve been trying to buy a car and i stumbled upon this one. Its a really nice car. im just curious on what type of exhaust it might have. Here are some pictures, even though they might not be the best!
- Hello, I can see its a single exhaust, it has an expensive stainless resonator, and its hung proportionately, and parallel to the ground. This is indicative of other exhaust work, not just a tip attached to the end of the factory pipe. It looks to be 2 3/4 in diameter, but that doesn't mean that its the same all the way. Its likely stainless all through if its entirely aftermarket, which it seems to be by the way the resonator is attached nicely. Also, its worth noting that a regular stock pipe wouldn't hold the weight of that resonator, it would crack off in a week if it was just dangling there. Something has been done. Exactly what cannot be determined though from these pics.
- Q: I have a Dodge 2006 V6 2.7.I‘m thinking of getting a Flowmaster exhaust system and waswondering if you loose gas mileage with it.
- No, you should see a very slight gain in mileage with a more free-flowing exhaust.
- Q: 1.4t Sagitar exhaust system failure lights 11 Sagitar, now ran 50,000 km, and recently found a problem. A few days did not drive, suddenly the name of the open, start the engine noise than in the past to ring, and so idle after the normal start, because it is manual, almost stalled, this time found the exhaust system fault light began to light up, Is a flash, and continue to travel for a while is not bright. No matter what seriously. But recently there is always the above things, one for a while off. He also found that now than the previous idling exhaust sound big, not the kind of new car before the rhythm of the sound, and now a bit like a sudden tug of the sound, want to blaze like seeking experts to help the younger look. Thank you for the first time
- Engine Exhaust System Fault Alarm This alarm light is used to monitor the engine exhaust system operating status. A warning light indicates that the engine is missing and may damage the catalytic converter. In this case, you must immediately reduce the speed, careful driving to the nearest 4S at the maintenance of the engine. A warning light indicates that the exhaust system has failed (eg, the oxygen sensor is damaged) and the exhaust quality deteriorates. At this point, you must immediately slow down, carefully driving to the nearest 4S at the maintenance of the engine. It can be seen that oil may have an impact
- Q: If so which one would you reccomendI drive 44 miles a day on the thruway from to school and back
- It might help a little, but it would need to be a full cat-back system, which for your car could get expensive. Generally a good intake filter like a KN is the best bang-for-your-buck. After that would be a cold air intake, as they help efficientcy a little more. Then, after either of those, if you still wanted to see more improvement I'd look into exhausts. I have a cold air, iridium spark plugs, and a cat-back exhuast on my Tuscani GTV6 wich is rated at 18-21mpg. I now get about 25mpg If I drive conservatively. *** PS you car has nothing to do with dual exhaust as it is either a inline 4 or VR6 motor. dual exhaust or true duals is a term used to describe two seperate exhaust paths coming from two seperate exhaust manifolds and is mainly just for bragging rights, as the performance increase over a standard system is little to nil. Every motor VW has ever put in any Jetta has only had one exhaust manifold so the concept doens't apply to your car anyway. Just thought I'd clear that up. PSS Snaglefritz answer below me is entirely accurate for his application, but there is a couple things that may be missleading. Primarily it is correct to say that a performance exhaust system will indeed allow you to burn more fuel, increaseing power and decreaseing economy. The difference is that it is a dirt bike, and is ridden at wide-open-throttle (racing) just about all the time. Secondly, it doesn't have an ECM to control fuel delivery. As he stated it uses a carb, which is a mechanical device that uses jets to determine fuel flow. In your Jetta however, the ECM computer can calculate that, thanks to your free flowing intake and exhaust, it can provide the same cruising speed (like your commute to school) while doing less work (delivering less fuel) as it has to work less to suck the air in and to expell it out. ) But yes, if you floor it you will go faster and use more fuel )
- Q: I have a 2006 chevy silverado 5.3 (78in) and am in the market for a kickass exhaust system. I like to do a lot of research before I buy anything big like that so does anyone know where I could find some reviews of exhaust systems (borla, magnaflow, etc.)? I‘ve looked through a couple of my magazines but I don‘t have much. Any help would be great.Suggestions would be nice too! Looking for something with deep deep sound.
- wow you'll get almost 4 more hp lol.
- Q: ok i drive a 1987 chevy blazer k5 silverado that has a stock 350 in it. a friend of mine suggested a exhaust system called turbos that give it an intimidationg i mean business sound. which is what im looking for. my brother came up with some old turbos that he got off a friend. how can i tell if they are turbos and is there a site that i can go to,to listen to the turbos before i take it to the exhaust shop?thank you
- Because of the increased exhaust flow required for turbo chargers, the mufflers that are used have very little baffling to produce back pressure. Maxflo and others have capitalized on the idea but any muffler designed for use with turbochargers will have better flow and more noise.
