Q: i have a stock exhaust system right now, but i know the manufacturers make unnecessary bends and curves to reduce noise or something. would i see much difference in performance or noise if i got an aftermarket cat back exhaust? such as magna flow or something?
It is not the catalytic converter or bends in the pipes that cause problems there needs to be back pressure for the engine to run its optimum. People do not seem to get there is no big conspiricy to hide horse power or any of that other happy horse sh it people keep yapping about. If you want your engine to have an extra 200 hp then you need to spend the money on a bigger injection system a better intake and heads to increase the flow then rebuild the head with larger valves and have it polished and ported as necessary. After all that you now need to free up the exhaust so you can go with your performance one. Otherwise a stock engine is not suddenly going to ' WAKE UP ' just because you spent 400 bucks on an exhaust. save your money and buy a bigger more powerful engine or a bigger more powerful car. There are always trade offs in performance. the more fuel and engine uses the more horsepower it makes the bigger your gas bill. performance and economy are possible but extremely expensive beyond what most of us can afford.
Q: i love how these cars sound and i wanna get the same exhaust system for mines what is it?
Infiniti uses Calsonic Kansei exhaust systems, but the exhaust is not the only thing that makes the exhaust tone what it is, you have to consider the design of the engine has a little something to do with it as well. You can't put a borla exhaust on a honda and expect it to sound like a borla system on a corvette.
Q: I‘ve had a 2inch Sports Exhaust System put in my car about 4 - 5months ago and when my car is cold it seems to make a crackling noise as 1st i thought because it was new and had to wear in but it still makes it, is this all meant to be normal? Also there are days where it will sound nice and a deep sound, an then there is other days where i can hardly hear itI was told as well that you can get twin exhaust systems put in, my brother had told me about this Are you able to do this on any car?
If we knew the year make and model of your car possibly someone bakes a true dual exhaust system. The noise you're hearing is common when you shut the motor off and the exhaust system is cooling down. It's an expansion and contraction thing going on inside the exhaust pipes and what ever type of muffler you have.
Q: Is this a do it yourself job? I‘m not totally new to cars but I‘ve never worked with exhaust.
The cheapest way to do it, and most effective, would be a new muffler. You really need to add details of what year Jeep, as well as what engine you have, because the latter will greatly affect what you need to do. For example, I have a 1996 with the 5.2L V8, and have a Flowmaster 70 series muffler. It's not overwhelmingly loud, but it is extremely deep, sounds great on idle, and doesn't drone on the highway. Realistically, Flowmaster would probably be the best and cheapest solution, any model number would work. Other than that, a Cherry Bomb glass pack would work also. As for the job being a DIY thing, yes, you can do it yourself. You'll need a reciprocating saw, new muffler, and correct sized exhaust clamps. However, I would spend the $70 or so and take it to an exhaust shop. They'll do it professionally, which means they'd weld it, meaning there would be a lesser chance of having an exhaust leak. Good luck, and I hope it sounds great! FYI, check YouTube, there are always people throwing up sound clips of various mufflers on Grand Cherokees.
Q: i need a new catalytic converter but the mechanic said it would cost between $500 to $800 and i was just wondering if it would be cheaper to replace the whole exhaust system instead.
it would cost you more if you got the exhaust pipe and the cat. you can get a cat cheaper then that. why don,t you buy a universal cat and have someone weld it on.
Q: What is the difference between the engine exhaust system and the SCR post-processing system?
Mainly used for oil engine exhaust emission standards
Q: I just got the new 6.7 ford f250. I‘m not ready to void my waranty yet, so what is the best exhaust system I can run that will give me more power and some tone this thing is quite.
To stay under warranty you will have to get a dpf-back exhaust. Take a look at MBRP. They are the diesel exhaust company that I see the most. If you don't care about the warranty, then you may decide to straight pipe it.
Q: I‘ve been trying to buy a car and i stumbled upon this one. Its a really nice car. im just curious on what type of exhaust it might have. Here are some pictures, even though they might not be the best!
Hello, I can see its a single exhaust, it has an expensive stainless resonator, and its hung proportionately, and parallel to the ground. This is indicative of other exhaust work, not just a tip attached to the end of the factory pipe. It looks to be 2 3/4 in diameter, but that doesn't mean that its the same all the way. Its likely stainless all through if its entirely aftermarket, which it seems to be by the way the resonator is attached nicely. Also, its worth noting that a regular stock pipe wouldn't hold the weight of that resonator, it would crack off in a week if it was just dangling there. Something has been done. Exactly what cannot be determined though from these pics.
Q: what would be a good performance muffler that would give me a little more power and a nice sound? i don‘t want a cat back system because they‘re pretty expensive and it would be cheaper and easier for a performance muffler and should give me almost the same result. btw i have a 2003 Mitsubishi lancer es with a kn sri
Try ordering from APEXi. They shave some AMAZING exhaust systems jut for Lancers. Check out eBay if you want a cheap muffler for an ok sound too. Skunk2 is good too
Q: i have a 2005 scion tc and i wanna make it sound mean. should i‘ve looked at cold air intakes but should i get that or an exhaust system or a muffler? i also want to make it fell like it has more power. would the cold air intake do that?
remove the catalytic converter and get a flowmaster super 44 performance muffler.
