Q:I have a 1983 Camaro z28 w/ 305 v8, 4 barrel, 5 spd std, carbed, roller rockers and lumpy cam, im looking to replace the stock exhaust system with something throaty, something grumbly any suggestions? borla, magnaflow, flowmaster? leave it as it is and drop in new headers? maybe magnaflow 16829 cat back performance system? what do you think
go with a tri-y headers, IF you want dual exhaust then make sure you have a X pipe to link both right and left pipes, dont go straight, I like dyno max muffs, but the flowmaster off road muffs really flow good, now a 2 into 1 does produce better torque over a dual exhaust, Last since your into trashing our enviroment dont bother with the cats and yank them, my guess is your engine is over carbed and with a rich running engine you will do nothing but ruin and block up the cats, And with a proper built engine with correct emission, I can build an engine with only maybe less than 5 HP or more HP and better track time and mileage than what you got and be smog complitent. It is a matter of blue printing, parts matching and lots of time and money. You ever dyno tune your carb to that cam you got in the engine? guessed not, do that and see how much hp/ torque you are missing, oh and last did you get the correct stall converter to match the cam and geared the rear end to match too?
Q:I have a 2000 z28 camaro and I‘m trying to install a SLP loud mouth exhaust system
Shy of this system being a direct bolt on system, you may need some special tools. Namely a welder to start with. If it is a direct bolt on replacement system, other than rusted on bolts and nuts. It is easy enough. Just make sure you have a cutting grinder in case you need to cut off the old system due to rusted hardware. An exhaust system is very basic plumbing.
Q:i have a 95 civic. i want to get an aftermarket exhaust system. possibly a catback. but i am hearing conflictin answers as if it consumes alot of gas. one of ma frnds said that after revamping his exhaust system he lost about 7 mpg. That to me is alot of miles. Some people say it helps gas milage and some say it doesnt. If anyone can shed a little insight, or tell me how their gas was afta gettin an exhaust i would b truly gratefull.
It will only waste gas if you car constantly giving it excessive gas because you like the sound. Not everyone is impressed by a Honda with a pipe. Usually if they have headers turbo carbon fiber hood roll cage and an v6 with a 5 speed They get more looks than a 4door with a pipe ever will
Q:Audi a4 tank exhaust system throughput is not correct
Audi fuel tank ventilation system with ventilation solenoid valve, pipe rupture or solenoid valve can not open are reported this fault
Q:It‘s a 2000 Mitsubishi Lancer Gli. Was thinking a cannon but not sure if a sports exhaust would be better,.
A little bit of pressure will slow you a little, a lot of pressure will slow you a lot.
Q:were and how can i get a GT-R exhaust for a pontiac G6
Pontiac G6 Exhaust System
Q:i dont really understand what the difference is between different pipe set ups you got X pipe straight ect. care to explain (i could be wrong on the 2 suggestions i gave care to help me out understand exhaust systems more), does having a different pipe alignment help with horsepower or somthing because i know that turbos are related to the exhaust so would the direction of the pipeing increase your hp gain?thanks
The direction wouldn't really help. More to do with the type of bends and width and design. The bends mandrel bend and press bend. Mandrel keeps the bend constant which usually cost more but allow better flow. Press bends are cheaper but restrict and interrupts flow of the exhaust gases. Yes, the exhaust is related to the turbo. Normally the exhaust goes straight out of a car N/A normal engines. In a turbo the exhaust gases go through the turbine/turbo which spins it at high rpms which forces more air and more fuel to the engine making the engine work harder creating more power than normal engine of the same size. Arrangement(exhaust) depending on how many cylinders you got say 4 easier to explain. You get 4 into one or 4-2-1. Which means the 4 cylinder exhaust from the manifold meet into 1 pipe and out the exhaust. which is pretty pointless for a 4 cyl more useful for a big engine or high horse power vehicle. The 4-2-1 would be 4 pipes meet into 2 pipes into 1 pipe good for low down power more useful for smaller engines. Anyhow any good exhaust shop owner should be more than happy to explain it to you if they want your buiness.
Q:If its just all about relieving back pressure why can‘t someone design a system that is as quiet, or nearly as stock? Is it really out performing oem or does all that noise fool you into thinking your going faster. Sometimes it seems like little boys with the playing cards in the spokes on the bicycle. after all the power is made on the inside of an engine is‘nt it?
the idea is to get the exhaust out straight away. if you have mufflers in the way that can reduce performance. but the fart cans people put on imports are just to make them sound like they have a performance exhaust, but don't actually do anything.
Q:Will this exhaust system fit my mustang?
You will have to convert to a dual exhaust, w/2 cats. Not cheap.
Q:Before I decide to purchase and have work done on my car, is there a way I can listen to how the new muffler or exhaust will sound like when it is done?Does it depend on my car at all or is the sound all about the muffler/exhaust?I have 2003 PT Cruiser, if it matters.
The perfect option is to listen to the same car as yours equipped with the same exhaust that you are interested in. The next best option is to listen to the same exhaust in a car somewhat similar to yours in engine configuration (4 inline, 6 inline, v6, etc.). Same exhaust in a smaller or bigger engine naturally would sound somewhat differently due to the different exhaust pressure and volume. Of course, the basic design says a lot about how it would sound. A loud free flow design would sound just like it was intended to be to a smaller or larger degree. The harmonics would be generally the same.
