Q: I am soon gonna buy a brand new Vance and Hines exhaust system for my 96 katana 600. It comes with 4 into 1 headers and all the mounting brackets and installation instructions. I am paying $360 with shipping included. I want to know if im getting a good deal and if this is considered a full exhaust system and how will my bike perform and sound with this new exhaust. Its a vance and hines supersport exhaust system. I would like it to be loud, but i wanna know if it will be loud and will sound better than my stock dual exhaust. And also How much horsepower will it provide me. Thanks.
Just my opinion--aftermarket exhaust and mufflers most logical use is to be cheap replacement for rusted out or wreck damaged stock parts. I have a custom set of pipes and mufflers on Gold wing because they were a $100.00 special to replace the rusted out parts on left side instead of $400.00. Old /2 got non stock because of damage in wreck- was a police impound purchase. Racing on track or drag strip can also be valid. Making noise on street is not a valid reason. Unless you have rusted pipes and muffler or have dropped cycle and torn off stock - don't get the racing exhaust for street.
Q: I want to put a new FULL (front to back) exhaust on my car but leaving the stock cats will just restrict the new pipes and getting bigger catalytic converters is just to expensive. im not worried about legalities.so what do the cats do??? do i need them???the exhaust will be true dual if it helps.
It cleans the exhaust.
Q: Monday on my way to work (at 4:30 AM so I am beloved in the neighborhood), it was apparent to me that I needed a new muffler. I finally had a chance to look yesterday and, yep, there‘s a nice spot where it has rusted through. Now, if you want your sump pump replaced or a legal brief written, I‘m your man, but I know next to nothing about cars. When I take my car in to have the muffler replaced, if I am told that the exhaust system also needs work, how can I know if it truly does?
If the exhaust system is original, it may well be a welded, single unit - and it really doesn't pay to cut and splice a generic muffler onto it. You'll only be returning in 6 months or so to start piece mealing the rest of the system. Odds are, if the muffler is rusted through, the pipes aren't far behind.
Q: why some vehicles have duel exhaust system? what could be the reason?
dual exhaust pipes reduce the back pressure on the engine allowing it to receive more of an intake charge for more horse power
Q: Or is it if its loud you get a ticket.
New York State Vehicle Safety/Emissions Inspection Program For Cars and Light Trucks. The emission control devices are examined if the vehicle was originally manufactured with them. The vehicle model years affected are indicated. Catalytic converter (CAT) - all model years Exhaust gas recirculation valve (EGR) - all model years Positive crankcase ventilation system (PCV) - all model years Air injection system (AIS) - 1984 and newer Evaporative emission control (EVAP) - 1984 and newer Fuel inlet restrictor (FIR) - 1984 and newer Thermostatic air cleaner (TAC) - 1984 and newer Section 375. Equipment. Subsection 31. Mufflers and exhaust systems. Prevention of noise. Every motor vehicle, operated or driven upon the highways of the state, shall at all times be equipped with an adequate muffler and exhaust system in constant operation and properly maintained to prevent any excessive or unusual noise and no such muffler or exhaust system shall be equipped with a cut-out, bypass, or similar device. No person shall modify the muffler or exhaust system of a motor vehicle in a manner which will amplify or increase the noise emitted by the motor or exhaust system of such vehicle above that emitted by the muffler or exhaust system originally installed on the vehicle and such original muffler and exhaust system shall comply with all the requirements of this section. A muffler is a device consisting of a series of chambers or baffle plates, or other mechanical design for the purpose of receiving exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine, and effective in reducing noise. An exhaust system is a series of mechanical devices for the purpose of receiving exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine and expelling it into the atmosphere.
Q: whats cost difference. which one gives car that nice loud sound, what does it do to performance of car
The muffler is part of the exhaust system. The muffler is that big oval thing that your exhaust pipe feeds into and out of. It works to make the sound quieter. Without one, it can get loud. They do more than make it quiet though. They also can work to give it that nice deep throaty sound. I cant shed more light on exactly how they work to effect the noise in the specific ways they do (louder, quieter, deeper). I just know that they effect the noise.
Q: I have a 2007 v6 mustang and I recently got a Pypes true dual exhaust kit making it, dual exhaust from the stock single exhaust and giving it a much better sound.i can see the mpg I get on the dash and I was used to seeing 16-19 but when I looked it said 13.8. I have had the exhaust for less them a week and sure, I‘m being a little harder on the gas to hear the noise but a loss in mpg is a lot to lose just to be a little harder on the pedal.my hypothesis is that I am losing back pressure/force because the air is coming out two pipes instead of one, but I am no car expert at all.why is this happening? and how can I fix it?
could be a glow plug situation! additionally coolant sensor could reason this fault. Get it clinically determined at a storage. There are fairly some garages close to me which will run a loose diagnostic. it may additionally be the MAF sensor. in lots of circumstances you will get to a undeniable rev selection and it stutters then options up previous this. in spite of if it somewhat is not examining wisely the automobile over-fuels. is additionally a on/off fault as you defined. As suggested must be air filter out, yet often non-end issues if it rather is undesirable. Sensor on exhaust gases, yet returned could regularly instruct all time if lifeless. i think a sensor or undesirable earth!
Q: I want to make my small block V-8 loud. I am thinking about some Flowmaster Super 40‘s. My problem is that I don‘t know if it makes a difference when the exhaust pipe enters the middle or on either sides, and whether it goes out the middle or either sides. Does it make a difference?
doesn't make a difference. they have the different set ups for certain pipes and certain cars. some cars have the muffler situated so the exhaust pipe can only enter the far side of the muffler. others have enough room for the pipe to go down the middle. all depends ps. try magnaflow instead of flowmasters. they sound good but rob your horsepower
Q: I‘m looking to buy a used car and I have recently found a good one for a decent price, but it needs new tires and a new exhaust system. The car is a 1998 Honda Accord EX-L coupe. How much would new tires and a new exhaust system cost (including labor costs)??
Tires - really depends on which tires you want. You can buy cheap no-names or you can go for quality, name brand tires. The price difference can be substantial (especially if you go for high performance tires). Exhaust - the price difference between going for OE (original equipment) Honda parts and aftermarket is also substantial. Another question is what type of shape is the catalyst in. If you need to replace that as well, the exhaust system price can increase significantly.
Q: Is it headers to mid pipe to catback with the exhaust tips coming out from the rear Or is it mid pipe to headers to catback
Mid means middle so it's not at either end. Not all cars have headers. Google exhaust system diagram This is one that uses the word catback (which is new to me)
