Q:if you already have the headers what else do you need for an exhaust system?
well headers are only one section of the exhaust system. it is useless putting on headers if you still have the stock exhaust piping. think of it like sucking juice through a straw, if you make the straw wider at one end but keep it narrow at the other it really won't matter how wide it is at the one end, it will only be as restrictive as the most restrictive part, if that makes sense? You need to get piping that fits the headers and run it down the rest of your car. but if you're going to put that kind of money into the car, you'd probably want to make sure you have the intake side down as well to help increase performance
Q:I have a hole in the top of my muffler and a hole in my resonator as well (rusted out). I can‘t find a cat-back system, so I‘m forced to buy everything a la carte. I have worked on my car a lot under the hood but have never worked on the exhaust system. My question is what the difference between a flange and a clamp is? Don‘t they serve the same purpose?
Flange is where they meet up, one male side, and one receiving female side. They clamp together to seal it off, exactly like the flange on the exhaust manifolds where they meet the pipe. The clamp style slides together and you use a cheap u bolt style clamp that holds it all together. Either will work but i would guess that pieces of pipe with ubolt exhaust clamps will be cheaper. Dont be afraid of working on exhaust, it is easy and very hard to mess up. You will know if you dont get a good seal. If it is small there are puttys that can seal it as well or tapes but our idea is solid, just go the more inexpensive route or the one that fits your needs.
Q:Where can I get a dual exhaust system for a 94 GMC Yukon that isnt really expensive?Does Heartthrob make one.?
add more, like alot more, some torque convertors hold 9 quarts or more, i would add two more, start it and run it and check it, this is if you just put in a fresh tranny
Q:I am in need of a exhaust system for my home theater. i have to much going on. 1 receiver, dvr, home theater pc, playstation 3, xbox 360 w/ hd-dvd rom, and charging for controllers and logitech 880 remote, I also have a LG tv which can get warm all this is housed in one of those hometheater entertainment center that has 2 towers on either side of a lower base for the tv where the devices go under and gets very warm. the towers are smaller for dvds. i want to mount 2 fans behind each device. No glass in front of device so for now everything will exhaust. i am using computer fans prolly 4inch ones. i am wandering i want to have the system controlled by a thermostat and i need suggestions on what to do. i am using the old trip method where u put one side of a wire in the psu green hole and one in the black and that turns it on with one simple switch i want to put a thermostat in the middle. does anyone now if this is possible if so what thermostat would u recommend
piston in caliper jamming up on downstroke .spray with brake cleaner that might free it up otherwise caliper overhaul on that side .ps abs light will come on because of fault .but could need sensor as well will not know that till you fix piston ok .might need new caliper .
Q:I‘m thinking about putting a dc sports exhaust on my 07 focus se sedan but I‘m not sure if a dc exhaust will fit.any help is appreciated
Do you mean just the muffler, catback, or full exhaust system? There are attachments where you can buy stuff to make the muffler to fit. You have to find out what diameter your exhaust pipe is, find out the diameter of the muffler and then figure out what attachment you need to get a snug fit on both and clamp it down or weld it on. If it's a catback system, or a full exhaust then you need to look up on finding one to match your specific car.
Q:I own a 05' Chevy Monte Carlo 3.8 3800 and I have the 2 dual pipes all factory with the mufflers, but I wanted to put the (Magnaflow exhaust)set up on it.Do i need to change everything or can I just change the mufflers and put the chrome stainless steel tips on there? or do I have to change the whole entire set up?What's an estimate of the cost?
you really cannot make an incubator. if you really want to risk it, you could make a box of some sort with a heat lamp over it. this probly wont make the eggs hatch though.
Q:I was wondering what kind of exhaust system to get for my Firebird 92. I am looking for the best one for the best price with the best performance for my model of Firebird. I would like it to be a dual exhaust I was looking at some of the flow master exhaust systems but all it said about them was what kind of series and not much about the performance. My car is just a regular Firebird and not a trans am so please don‘t think that it is just a 5.0L V8 engine with dual exhaust but still has a bit of fight in it but would like to add a bit more. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.
Dynomax UltraFlo SS cat-back exhaust system $317.00 from Summit Racing, for a good start. Flowmaster is restrictive junk, Dynomax outflows them by 48%, stock exhaust flow rates (in CFM) are even worse, completely horrific numbers! Headers are a going to be problematic, and engineering a true dual exhaust with X-Pipe crossover and still being able to pass inspection is an expensive proposition. You really might want to start with an Eddy (Edelbrock) High-Flo TPI manifold first and then play with exhaust system improvements. Real improvements in HP and Torque are accomplished with parts made of steel and aluminum not chips.
Q:just the muffler tip or the whole exhaust system?
Just run headers without anypipe or cats or muffler
Q:I have a 2005 dodge dakota with a 4.7 liter magnum, 4 wheel drive, locking differential, 40,000 miles, and an SLT package. But i was looking for something to do to my exhaust. And when i took a look around i noticed that there were 3, count em, 3 resonators under there. I looked more carefully and saw that it could unbolt into three sections. If i took the last two sections off still leaving one small resonator and exit the exhaust pipe out the back will that void the warranty i still have on my truck? the cats are still there and it shouldn't do anything about emissions. Will this cause problems in the engine with the fuel mixture? And any back pressure issues? let me know because i would not like to void my warranty. (and they can be put back on)
Usually anything infront of the last O2 sensor you cannot mess with it will void your warrenty. Due to all the smog rules and regulations. To be on the safe side I would call a Dodge dealer and ask them what you are able to do to the exhaust without voiding your warrenty.
Q:i have a 2001 1.4 (6th gen) civic what would be the best exhaust system to get? also does anyone have any reviews on powerflow exhausts i was thinking about getting a custom made instead of a magnex etc exhausts.
over-sized exhausts do very little when it comes to horsepower gain unless the intake and throttle body have also been replaced. Then they can add from 10 to 20 peak hp. That said, My friend drives an rsx with a Greddy exhaust and loves it. It also looks very cool.
