- Q: Exhaust systems, catalytic converters ,mufflers, muffler tips?
- catalytic converter, only need for smog, muffler is sound and performancemuffler tip is all cossmetic. exhause piping is sound and performance. next step, muffler style, circle straight style gives more performance and louder sound, oval cannister less performance and lowers sound, exhaust piping should be sized to your engine size.
- Q: why some vehicles have duel exhaust system? what could be the reason?
- dual exhaust pipes reduce the back pressure on the engine allowing it to receive more of an intake charge for more horse power
- Q: well my kia has a exhaust leak right were the exhaust pipe connects to the motor and im t5rying to figure out the name of the part
- Could be the exhaust manifold.
- Q: Basically, I am looking to exhaust out some hot air (roughly 25,000btu/hr) from a piece of machinery. I believe if I do this, it will releave my hvac unit of 300,000 btu/day (12hrs of operation) of cooling power needed jus to negate the heat from this piece of equipment. Ive already designed and fabricated a vent adapter that catches all the outcoming air and redirects it into a 4 exhaust pipe. This exhaust has been ran up the wall, through the ceiling and now I‘m at the part where I ask myself, exactly how do i get this out? There have been problems thus far, in which the equipment overheated because the heat accumalated in the newly fabricated vent thingamajig. I figured if I can create negative pressure (by some type of forced suction, ie vacuum, fan, etc), that I can effectively remove that heat. Are there any brands or specific models that do some hi-flow suction/ventilation unit out thats economic (under $500 not incl installation) at the same time? Thanks for your time, and consideration :)
- you can use big types of exhaust fans which we use in big hotels for exhausting heat or you can also use secondary refrigeration cycle to cool the hot air, it will need some more power but heat added to the environment will be reduced to large extent and you'll make your project ecofriendly upto some extent
- Q: i have a 2002 dodge cummins 5.9. im currently stationed (Air Force) in california but im changing bases here soon. I want to upgrade my exhaust system to a 4 from the turbo back. What are the rules and regulations reguarding what i can and cant do to my exhaust system.
- I do not believe the california smog check program includes diesels, or at least not back to 2002 vehicles. But, if you stick with parts that have a carb approved label (California Air Resources Board), you cannot go wrong.
- Q: I want to buy a full fmf exhaust system for my yamaha blaster but im not sure is it worth the money? i was thinking of just buying a fmf powercore 2 exhaust and not bothering with the muffler but then my quad would not be a powerfull without it. Just need a little advice. Thanks
- your not doing anything wrong.its the same with me.i think they all are junk.iam going to try bosch the next time, and see if they work better.you could try this.take some alcohol and clean them and see if that works.
- Q: Alright, i need a little help here. So I‘m going to give an example so that I can get a remedy to my questions. Thank you for your help! :DSo lets say you have a 1 inch exhaust system all throughout that can let out 10 litres a second (Thats pretty standard, right? I think.), and you‘re using a 1.3l 4 cylinder engine, and you‘re chugging along at 2000 RPM.So to my understanding;2000 RPM / 4 RPM (Ever 4 RPM all 4 cylinders have had one exhaust stroke) 500 RPM / 60 (I need the per second rate) 8.3 RPM x 1.3litres 10.8litres per secondSo clearly this set up has some back pressure equivalent to .8 litres a second since the exhaust can only handle 10 litres per second. Now I KNOW I‘m wrong since I‘m missing a few things; Speed of the gasses, how many RPMs it takes for all 4 cylinders to go throughout an exhaust stroke (I think I‘m wrong), and how to convert litres into psi, and what psi is needed to create a scavenging affect.
- Statements: Cylinder capacity is the swept capacity, and can be expressed in liters That is the bore area times the length of the stroke times the number of cylinders All four cylinders exhaust once every two revolutions. (See engine displacement at pedia.) Your 500 RPM divided by 60 is wrong. It is not 500 RPM, but 1000 exhausts per minute. And that number is multiplied by 60 to get exhausts per second, not divided by 60. So, for every 2000 revolutions you get 1000 times four exhausts. Now things get complicated. The total cylinder volume is not 1.3, but 1.3 plus the volume of the head space. The engine needs space for the sparkplug penetration and for valve movement. We do not know at what pressure the exhaust system handles 10 liters per second, nor how much back pressure are willing to have Air comes in at some unknown temperature. It is heated in the cylinder, so when it is released it expands. We do not know the temperature of the exhaust gas. Added to the new volume is the volume of gas generated by the combustion process. There are too many unknown variables to allow us to generate a formula. In engine design, bench testing determines the numbers you are looking for.
- Q: i have a 97 avalon and want to replace the whole exhaust system. what kind of system would i get? is there a basic exhaust system kit for cars? or do i need a special system for the avalon itself? the manifold pipe is rusted out and the rest is in pretty bad shape. just want to replace the whole thing and not have to worry about any other parts rusting and having to listen to the obnoxious exhaust leak
- We set ours up on a bed of sand on the lawn, it cushions the bottom of the pool prevents little rocks from puncturing the pool liner. . then surrounded the pool with bark.
- Q: I will be designing an exhaust system for the AMC 258. For performance reasons, I have decided to keep the pipes from the collectors for cylinders (1,2,3) and (4,5,6) separate until I run out of car length where I will then place an X-pipe. This is the best pattern for the given firing order. My question is regarding the X-pipe. It seems to me that I could achieve the same result by plumbing the two pipes into one muffler with one outlet and two inlets rather than running an X-pipe into a muffler with two inlets and two outlets. My second question is regarding catalytic converters. Where is the best place in the exhaust line for them, and would I be best suited using two separate converters for my application?
- The best way would be to go to the library,so 20th century, and get book on exhaust design I don't remember names off any I came across but, they get very technical with the most efficient design.
