- Q: how much would it cost me and would a catalyst come with a new exhaust system
- Ciaoooo! I'm italian, the best places are: Milano, Venezia, Perugia, Roma, Bari, the sicily for its sea *_* byeeeee and welcome in Italy!
- Q: I do not want an exhaust system that sounds like most of the tuner cars you hear going down the road. I would prefer a deep muscular tone, that is not too obnoxious. If anyone has any suggestions, they are greatly appreciated! Thanks for your time!
- It's NOT the exhaust system. If you want a deep muscular tone, then buy a car with an engine that is capable of making such a tone.
- Q: Or do I buy it separate?
- It should come on the car, or already be on the car, unless you've got something fishy going on there. They don't need replaced until they either stop filtering the exhaust or break apart, or become clogged.
- Q: Today it started making a loud lawn mower type sound. I asked a friend he said my exhaust manifold was cracked. Im sure its omething exhaust system related because i can smell the fumes from the car are pretty strong. I havnt hit or run over anything in the road. The only thing i can think of is from driving my car pretty hard the past few weeks. Im always running late to work.2008 Chevy cobalt LT 2.2 engine i think, 106000 miles on it
- If it is loud, start it up and get out to check under the hood to see if it there, It could be further back along the exhaust. If you can smell fumes you have to get this fixed immediately as carbon monoxide poisoning is not to be ignored.
- Q: I‘m looking at k and n CAI. And a borla exhaust system. In all it will cost me 1000. I‘m just looking to get more hp and mpg.
- Both are a waste of time. They are not restrictions on modern vehicles. Expensive modifications like changing displacement, camshafts, heads, and headers would help and MIGHT need larger exhaust, but then the TB starts being a restriction, etc. Engines are systems. Modifying one thing upsets the balance and means you are actually being counter-productive.
- Q: Alright, i need a little help here. So I‘m going to give an example so that I can get a remedy to my questions. Thank you for your help! :DSo lets say you have a 1 inch exhaust system all throughout that can let out 10 litres a second (Thats pretty standard, right? I think.), and you‘re using a 1.3l 4 cylinder engine, and you‘re chugging along at 2000 RPM.So to my understanding;2000 RPM / 4 RPM (Ever 4 RPM all 4 cylinders have had one exhaust stroke) 500 RPM / 60 (I need the per second rate) 8.3 RPM x 1.3litres 10.8litres per secondSo clearly this set up has some back pressure equivalent to .8 litres a second since the exhaust can only handle 10 litres per second. Now I KNOW I‘m wrong since I‘m missing a few things; Speed of the gasses, how many RPMs it takes for all 4 cylinders to go throughout an exhaust stroke (I think I‘m wrong), and how to convert litres into psi, and what psi is needed to create a scavenging affect.
- Statements: Cylinder capacity is the swept capacity, and can be expressed in liters That is the bore area times the length of the stroke times the number of cylinders All four cylinders exhaust once every two revolutions. (See engine displacement at pedia.) Your 500 RPM divided by 60 is wrong. It is not 500 RPM, but 1000 exhausts per minute. And that number is multiplied by 60 to get exhausts per second, not divided by 60. So, for every 2000 revolutions you get 1000 times four exhausts. Now things get complicated. The total cylinder volume is not 1.3, but 1.3 plus the volume of the head space. The engine needs space for the sparkplug penetration and for valve movement. We do not know at what pressure the exhaust system handles 10 liters per second, nor how much back pressure are willing to have Air comes in at some unknown temperature. It is heated in the cylinder, so when it is released it expands. We do not know the temperature of the exhaust gas. Added to the new volume is the volume of gas generated by the combustion process. There are too many unknown variables to allow us to generate a formula. In engine design, bench testing determines the numbers you are looking for.
- Q: They seem easy to install I was just wondering how good they really are
- MAC exhausts are fairly good products, and MAC has been in the business for awhile, so they know what they are doing. Depending on your application, it will improve fuel economy somewhat and improve your performance as well. Most freer flowing aftermarket exhaust systems will do this, the real question is how long will they last? I don't seem to remember MAC offering fully stainless steel components, which is necessary for long life.most systems are of the aluminized nature, meaning they are plain steel with a light aluminum coating to prevent oxidation. However, this is a very thin layer and eventually will wear down and your system will start to rust. Stainless steel is obviously more expensive than aluminized, by at least a couple hundred dollars ,but SS will most likely last the life of your car.
- Q: What are the requirements for the four-wheel exhaust sequence when replacing brake oil?
- Have.
- Q: Hello i have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP . I was pulled over the other night for having too loud of an exhaust. I know what i need, i need a new cat back. I was looking at the SLP cat backs . I was curious if they would make any difference in horsepower or should i just go with a new stock cat back? Help please
- SlP cat backs are usually loud. Get something stock better. I installed a ZZP DP with cats and it gave the GTP a nice deeper grumble. It wasnt too loud or obnoxious, cops never looked at me twice. Plus it freed up restricted ponies, you could feel the difference. Bottom line no horsepower with catback, only sound and style.
- Q: I‘m looking for a good exhaust system for my mustang. Anyone know a good one that won‘t sound like a ricer?
- some extra horses and a value reductions in gas ,placed a okn airfilter in it or you will no longer get the completed a danger hp improve that should be a danger with one, a msd ignition/coil %. chip could do wonders additionally
