- Q: I‘m redoing my exhaust system for my 1996 Mazda MX-6.I just want to make it a straight pipe with a glass pack (to tone it) instead of muffler to make it sound loud. I like loud.Anyways there is a long resonator right after my catalytic converter. My friend says it‘s for both noise and emission control and I can‘t pass smog without it. I said it‘s just for noise control and it‘s muffling the sound of my little rice burner.I want to take it off and make my car sound like a mean lean rice burning machine, but I want it to be able to pass smog.So is it for both emission and sound control, or just sound? Is taking it off a good idea?
- The resonator is used to provide the sound the maker of the car wants as well as helping performance in a specific RPM range. So by removing it, you may get the sound you want at the expense of performance. The exhaust system on a car can be tuned just like the pipes of a organ. It has to do with resonance, volume and length. It is one of many details that auto engineers make big bucks figuring out. It is also one that a novice can to a lot of damage (to performance) by messing with it. Proceed with caution!!!
- Q: I have a 91 integra and im not sure what exhaust to buy Im on a 350 dollar budget and i need a reputable exhaust system that guarantees hp gain
- I agree with Zee on this one for the most part, but you can build up that B18A engine you already have and have a VTEC head put on it. Then you'll have an engine that has the VTEC qualities with the added torque of a bigger displacement over the GSR setup. That means quicker acceleration. Also, your engine is more turbo-friendly than the GSR setup too. Word of advice: if you decide to have the VTEC head put on your engine, make sure it's done by someone who truly knows what they are doing. I've seen too many Frankenstein engine with reliability problems because they weren't built right. On the other hand, I've seen more that were built well and are trouble-free. Still, a knowledgeable, experienced builder is what you need for this set up.
- Q: I have a 2000 Eclipse GT with the V6 3.0L automatic with the kick over.I wanted to put some new headers and a new exhaust system on my car. I was wondering what would be the best parts for me, and if there are any other bolt ons to add some horsepower. THANKS for the infoAlso if I can get your email to ask you bout someother stuff id like to do
- that car is a 07, it still should have a warranty on it. dont fool with it, or you could void the warranty. take it back to where you bought it and let them worry about it, it will be payed for.
- Q: Why do you need to design an exhaust system?
- When the injection molding cavity inside the air, the plastic material will fill the dissatisfaction, out of the pieces will be lack of material, that is, playing dissatisfaction. Exhaust methods are: open exhaust slot, thimble exhaust, inlaid exhaust, gas,.
- Q: Can the three-dimensional model of the car exhaust system be found?
- did you find it? I also need it
- Q: trying to choose a good exhaust system for my car that will put out horsepower and headers that will help it. also after getting these two things what other things should i purchase to add on more, like spark plug cables, throttle body etc
- I MY OPINION THIS WOULD BE A COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY. IF THERE IS ANY WARRANTY LEFT ON THIS VEHICLE THEN I WOULD SAY THAT ANY AND ALL WARRANTIES WOULD BE VOIDED. THE EXHAUST SYSTEM IN MOST CASES WILL BE WARRANTIED FOR AT LEAST 6 YEARS AND OR 100,000 MILES.
- Q: Trying to figure out which exhaust syaytem will provide the best sound and most power.
- If you are going to do it right you will also need a high performance air cleaner and a power commander or race tuner to go along with that exhaust if you want more power. Any of the name brand systems are good. Do you want an entire exhaust system or just slip on mufflers? Mufflers about $350 Exhaust about 500 A/C kit about 130 Power commander about 350 SE race tuner about 450 Of course you can get most of this stuff online but you do need someone who knows what they are doing to get it tuned in for you. Go to a shop that has a dyno once this stuff is installed. You can pile all kinds of money into exhaust stuff but without getting it tuned properly you are just wasting your money.
- Q: i want a loud and beast like sound that will just give you the goose bumps from idle to take off. ive seen people get long tube headers and what not but if someone was to have a flowmaster, borla, or whatever type exhaust system does the headers have to bve from the same name???
- Do you want noise or power increase? Just changing the headers will not add any power because the rest of the system will still be restricted. Over sizing the inside diameter of the whole exhaust from the engine back is the only way to gain power. This lets the engine breathe better. If you just want to change the noise, you can just cut out the muffler and put a Stock or Race model in, or just a piece of straight pipe in it's place if your state allows it. You can get custom headers in any type and mix and match as long as you match the size of the outlet pipes and increase the diameter from there. This means that all the associated pipes, catalytic converters, and muffler will have to be changed to over sized. Good luck in your quest!
- Q: 94 chevy S-10 p.u. 117.9 in. wh. base, i want 2 replace the middle pipe, muffler, and the tail pipe. i dont want 2 replace the catylitic or the manifold pipe if i dont have 2. i got a rust hole about 3 or 5 inches from the catylitic converter. the pieces are welded.
- is the rust before the cat? if so plan on the hole system. most exhaust rust from inside to out as moisture settles inside the pipe with excception to cars driving in snow conditions, and unless you replaced the Cat converter its probably not to happy, the other answer you got was pretty good pipe wise. measure your overall exhaust pipe Lenth and add around a foot for bends (each)
- Q: would this increase the gas milage of my 1993 gmc truck? What are the benefits of a new exhaust system?
- if you go with a flow master muffler and bigger pipes this will increase your torque in the lower power range, meaning it wont take so much for you to start moving, but, everytime you hit the gas to hear the sound as everybody does, you waste gas. any thing you would gain from the exhaust you will loose from reving up the engine or getting into it to hear the pipes, as the gains are very minimal. if i were to try to get better gas milage, make sure it is properly running, change your fuel filter an o2 sensors, make sure the tires are properly inflated, have the drive line lubed, check your alignment, get a kn airfilter, and the flowmaster muffler with bigger pipes, and check the coolant make sure it doesnt need to be changed. all this eems like alot, but its what we do in are shop and it seems to be the most effective in the long run. we also do a fuel injection cleaner that is another step in the service. justice brothers makes a good product for that. it will cost you a little bitof money to do this kind of service, and you will get a mpg increase, but its gonna take a long time for you to recoup any of that money. no matter what you do it will take you time to get taht money back, but with this type of service, it will last longer and get bigger gains, so it wont take as long as some smaller changes
