- Q: When you install a cold air intake, do you have to disconnect the battery? If yes, why?I tried installing a ram air intake on my car and the check engine light kept coming on, I checked the computer and it said it was running too lean, but I just found a few installation videos that all said the disconnect the battery before installing itdoes disconnecting the battery force the computer to reprogram itself for the extra air?If someone could please give a good answer it would be much appreciated
- No, a chilly air intake does little to no longer something for a autos overall performance or gas mileage. The air gas ratio will stay the comparable, and the O2 sensors won't reason an SES easy to return up.
- Q: Or is it so unlikely to occur that I should just have it put in in and not even worry about it?And are those bypass valves that are suppose to prevent water from getting into the intake even effective, or are they just a waste of money?--I also heard that they could even hinder the performance of the CAI, is this true?
- Nah my buddy brad have been given one and me him and my buddy tom placed on chilly air and it became down there. so like 2 days later his dad takes it out and he instructed his dad beware for puddles b/c of the chilly air. and the mum ****** drives it threw this huge *** puddle and the engine have been given hydrolocked. we had to pull it out and get yet another d15 engine and get the stable factors from the hydrolocked one and placed them on the different one and it took us 2 days to get it working back and it took a month and a a million/2 to locate the engine. so im my opion till u have yet another motor vehicle on stand by its no longer nicely worth it. in any respect.
- Q: I‘ve been trying to look for cold air intake systems for my gs300 but i cant find them anywhere.Does anyone know any good websites or anything i can good quality intakes ?what brand do you recommend also ?
- if its chemically man made. like artificial sweeteners n preservatives
- Q: kn cold air intakes? Do they also improve gas mileage significantly? Or are they merely a performance add-on to boost horsepower?Same question about bolting on headers on my pickup truck. Will headers improve gas mileage or will it be just a performance boost?
- Yes, they improve gas mileage but no, not significantly. It's the same thing with headers. Think of the engine as a giant pump, it sucks in air and spits out exhaust. The more efficiently that the pump ( engine ) can do these two things, the easier it is for it to do its job ( which equals less fuel used ). By placing a more free-flowing intake and exhaust, you are doing just that.
- Q: At what speed does the Ram-Air become more effective than the Cold Air?What will these intakes do for my MPG?(2005-2006 Pontiac GTO, mostly mild driving conditions)
- The difference between the two is exactly what it sounds like. A cold air intake is when air routed from an area of the engine compartment where air is not heated as much by the engine. Some racers put cooling packs on top of the intake manifold to keep it at a cooler temperature so the air stays at a cooler temperature before entering the combustion chamber and cylinder bore. Cool air burns more efficiently. Ram air is an intake that utilizes the speed of the vehicle to force air into the engine (kind of like a super charger) and only helps while the vehicle is in motion. I hope this helps you out. Personally I would just go with a KN high flow air filter and that will allow air to travel into the engine with less friction. Meaning the engine will pull more air with less work.
- Q: i just bought a 2011 CR-Z Mugen, and i was wondering if it will help my performance and mileage if i install a AEM Cold Air Induction System. Im already getting about 29.4 MPG. If i do install it my warranty wont be void unless honda can prove without a reasonable doubt that the intake was the cause to any problem that occurs right? So do you guy think its worth putting a Cold Air Intake in this car?
- I have answered this question so many times I am just to tired of it to go into details but NO. To get any performance upgrades out of it you will have to change many other expensive components as well as re-flash the ecm and blah blah blah. C.A. intakes are a crock, don't waste your money.
- Q: I was recommended to check out ebay‘s selection on cold air filters for my 2000 honda civic ex. so when i looked i was surprised that the packages were ALOT cheaper than i thought ranging from like 15$ to maybe 300$ or so. are these lower priced ones even worth buying? cause the shipping charges cost more! haha. but if they arent worth it, can you recommend a place to get a decent brand of cold air intake within reasonable price for a college kid? Thanks so much
- save yourself a lot of money and headaches and just buy a KN filter that fits into your stock airbox, you will get the same results without all the sucking noises a CAI makes unless your into underhood eye candy.
- Q: i want to get a cold air intake for my 2000 v6 mustang, but i heard it makes it much easier to flood your engine because it will suck up the water from big puddles, and i dont want to be worrying everytime i go through a big puddle. so will a cold air intake really greatly increase the chance of your engine flooding?
- i own a repair shop, and in one way it will help it,and in another way it will hurt i,you see those engines were designed to run with so much back pressure ,that's where they produce some of there power from, and if you change the exhaust your going to be changing the back pressure on it,and it will decrease the power a little, but will increase the mileage a little bit, really not enough to help it any,its sort of like a trade off,you make it sound different ,but you don't gain enough from it to make up for the cost of doing it,so really your not going to help it much at all there's not a lot you can do on it,except leave it like it is,and keep it tuned good that's the best for good gas mileage,,good luck,i hope this help,s.
- Q: Well to begin with i‘m already extremely pissed off because the instructions for my AEM V2 intake dont match my car anyways i spend 4 hours taking all the OEM intake pieces out including removing the bumper, which i wasnt aware was necessary.ANYWAYonce i started putting in the new parts, i realized that the coupling between the intake pipe and the throttle body doesn‘t fit over the throttle body. Is it supposed to? if not, how do i connect it?
- Do you even have the right one? If it doesn't fit, get your money back, and don't waste it on worthless accessories.
- Q: actualy cool the air? or does it just take air from a cooler part of the car?
- It does not actually cool the air. It just acquires air from a cooler location under the hood.
