Q: I just wanted to know; if i got a magnaflow exhaust system but later did an engine swap does that affect anything? would i need a new exhaust? same for air intake?would i need to change most of my aftermarket products(for performance) if i do engine swap last?oh and btw its a mirage mitsubishi ls coupe 1.8l manual transmission with about 50k mileage, its something to work on while im in school
any time you change things around some things may not fit. so you either have to adapt or get new parts. an engine swap can be a real headache because of the legal issues as well as compatibility of computer controls. If you have the expertise and the money any thing is possible.
Q: I have dual exhaust that goes into a single exhaust tip. i want dual exhaust all the way through. i was thinking about getting flowmasters 40 super series. what do you think?
to buy a pre made system you are paying for brand names any mufler shop can do what you want for half the price
Q: I am toiling with the thought of buying a akrapovic bolt on exhaust for a Tw 125. Would this item make any difference to my bikes performance . They do look good but am i wasting my money on what will just essentially be a make up job?
If you are looking for a makeup job then yes its a waste of money. If you are looking for performance then its the only way to go. I have a full Akrapovic system on my R6, and of course I needed the power commander with it, and I have never once regreted it.
Q: Can i use a merged exhaust system without a cat or muffler, on my 1600cc vw aircooled and be street legal?
nope, no cats is always ilegal unless its diesil
Q: I own a 05 Acura RSX type S with a race header already installed. I plan on installing a supercharger kit that will produce over 310whp. I just need a list of parts for an exhaust system and size. I don‘t want it to be too Loud. Thanks.
Search in your local area for the specialist exhaust fabricators, and also consult the owners' club members in your area, to find what they have found to work. Consider also, that you can't have it all - you either have a silent exhaust, and lose a lot of power, or a free-flowing exhaust, with a glorious, bellowing animal tone. An over-silenced, small-tube system WILL cost you power, so decide what is more important to you.
Q: Please refer to the engine, check the exhaust system, what reason.
The engine needs to be upgraded
Q: Is there a huge difference from a full exhaust system to a slip on for sport bikes?
Bad mechanic. Maybe he installed the wrong axel. Left side and right side are different lengths. It's POSSIBLE he used the wrong axel. I just got ripped off at Charlie's Service Center in Sunset Utah. Brought my wife's Hyundai to them because of cracked boots. It was cheaper to replace the axels than it was to reboot the old ones. Cost me $540.00 for both axels. THEN one transmission seal started leaking. They wanted another $120.00 to fix that. In the mean time I heard that Les Schwab Tire Center would have done the job for $365.00. AND with the advent of a leaking seal, they would have charged an additional $35.00 for the new seal - NO MORE LABOR COSTS. Obviously I went to the wrong place. I'm wondering if you've run into a similar situation. With my seal leak I decided to go to Les Schwab because it was cheaper to pay them to do the job. And if there turns out to be something else wrong with their work they don't re-charge for labor. Charlie's Garage? NEVER AGAIN! And I told them that. They just said Sorry to loose your business. Some people! Hope this helped. '')
Q: i‘ve heard that if you change the stock exhaust system of a car you lose torque when you incremente too much the diameter of the pipe or if the length of the pipe is too short. Is this true? if the answer is yes, why does it happen.Any links?
Hello, exhausts introduce a restriction to the engine to push out burnt mixture from the cylinders. This resistance depends from the RPM. A small-diameter, long exhaust is very restrictive, therefore is helps at lower engine speeds to maintain torque of the engine for it helps the gases to stay in the cylinder during the valve-overlap phase rather than letting it to the exhaust, as the piston tries to compress. This also prevents some exhasut gas to exit the cylinders, but that results an EGR (exhaust gas recirculation), which improves emission. However, this long restrictive exhaust emits even larger resistance as the RPM goes up, therefore reducing power as the RPM increases. That's why tuned engines have large-diameter pipes to permit free gas flow, but which also lets mixture to exit prematurely (without combustion), because tuned engines have camshafts with long valve-overlap periods and opening times. The length of the pipes affect the 'resonant' range of the exhaust systems, the RPM range at which the exhaust exhibits it's most positve effect on using a certain cylinders' pressure wave to help another cylinder. You don't necessarily loose torque with the change, maybe you gain more at another RPM than you loose elsewhere in the RPM range. Regards
Q: Exhaust questionI have a 2002 Cavalier Z24, I want to put an exhaust system on it, my friends have told me to just get the muffler box you want (flowmaster Super 44) and replace the stock box, I know how to weld so that helps, but some people are saying not to do that cause it will mess up things up on my car. But other friends have done that to there sport cars and they say its fine. Need to know who’s right, or some advice.
I've heard that a performance muffler can cause a problem with the computer in that performance may suffer due to the fact that the computer is looking for a stock muffler. Unless you can find a place that makes them specifically for your car it might be a good idea to check around first.
Q: Anyone know of companies that make any type (full, cat-back, etc.) of exhaust system for a Chevy 4.1L I6?
most companies wont make one for an inline 6
