Q:I want to put a new FULL (front to back) exhaust on my car but leaving the stock cats will just restrict the new pipes and getting bigger catalytic converters is just to expensive. im not worried about legalities.so what do the cats do??? do i need them???the exhaust will be true dual if it helps.
It's mandated to be there by Federal law. It helps to clean pollutants out of the exhaust system. In new cars it also helps set the computer to have the engine run at the most efficient level, not too rich nor too lean. In those states that require inspections, not having a working one in place is an automatic fail, but since you are not worried about legalities, none of this will affect you, up to the moment you get the fix it ticket and are not allowed to register your car without taking care of the problem
Q:Just brought my truck to get dual in dual out 3 flowmaster turndowns right after the cab put on it. What‘s your opinion on this system? Is it going to be loud or what? Also, which is better, dual in dual out, or single in dual out?
Let the Dual-War begin, I say this because over the years it's been a battle with friends on this subject. I think it's become a battle of Opinions, because many don't understand, or completely know what they want in a Dual System. Many say that if your truck came equipped with Dual Cats from the factory, you have a True Dual System. I say, they should get their heads examined, Dual Cats coming from a single Muffler and a single Exhaust Pipe or a Y-Pipe, is in no way, a True Dual System. I say a True Dual System, is one that has Dual Mufflers Dual Cats, coming from a high quality X-Pipe. Without a doubt, this system will enhance the power, giving it a more muscled affect, which will make the exhaust flow much better, and making it sound louder, all in one neat package. Now, we all surrender, and bring up the white flag when it comes to FlowMaster, their technology and products are Top Of The Line. When it comes to Dodge, Chevy/GMC or Ford, than the solution is FlowMaster, period. Wishing you the very best on your new Dual In - Dual Out System, now watch your buddies faces, when they blush with jealousy, when they hear you turning the corner. Good Luck !
Q:I want my car to sound louder, what should I get? Flowmaster? Magnaflow? Or borla? What do you guys recommend?
you can get an oil change for $16 these days. it costs at least that to buy what you need to do the job. so take it somewhere and get the oil changed. or get a boyfriend who can show you how to do it the right way.
Q:should I install aftermarket muffler?
How loud did you expect it to be? The Magnaflow is one of the best cat back systems you can get for the Mazda 6. It is one of the best sounding and best tuned systems aside from Injen and a handful of other select companies. Since you already have an entirely aftermarket system from Magnaflow, the mufflers are already aftermarket. In my opinion the last thing I would do is replace those units with something else on a full cat back exhaust. If you want your car to sound loud and drive you insane, take your mufflers off the 6 and see what happens. From experience with my Mazda 6, it should drive you mad. Of course, engine sound also depends greatly on which engine you have. The 2.3 I4 or the 3.0 V6. If you really wanted loud, you should have gone with Tanabe USA's system for the 6, which is basically one series of their mufflers modified to fit from the axle back. It would have saved you a lot of money too.
Q:I know certain states have exhaust restrictions and catalytic converter regulations. Would a performance exhaust system made by Ford pass inspection in Massachusetts?
If the exhaust system provides for all of the emissions equipment or substitutes to be used, then you should be able to pass the inspection in Massachusetts. This means converters and sensors must be able to work in such a way that the engine emissions are with in limits. So make sure that what ever parts you buy are not labeled for off road use only. Also I checked the Ford Performance site and did not see any exhaust systems for the F250 listed for street use, but Summit has some that should pass emissions testing.
Q:How long does it take to install a full exhaust system is a typical car. without needing cat backs
depending on the car most system can be put in about a half hour factory system . dual exhaust can be installed in about two hours
Q:Can anyone recommend a dual exhaust system for a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500?
Ok so go where you are going to buy it at and say that you want a 6 inch exhaust I have a 95 powerstroke diesel lifted off road and with a 6 inch exhaust system and it sounds like a lion and thats what you may want.
Q:I just got a 2007 mustang gt and am looking to put an exhaust system on it. I want the best sounding and performing systemSo what should I get and where should I go to get it down? And how much should it cost?
It does depend on what type of sound you want to hear do you want deep and throaty or load and raspy. or a mix between the two. With the 2007 model you can do an axle back system which just replaces the stock mufflers for alternatives, and a lot of people I know like the Pypes violators, Borla stingers, and Magnaflow chambers, but for the deepest sound you'll need a mid muffler cat back system like the Pypes mid muffler system. you can check videos on youtube to get some ideas of what different set ups sound like. If you're truly wanting to replace the entire system, from the factory manifolds to the exhaust tips, Granatelli motorsports ( dot ) com carries a 3inch complete system with x-pipe and tuned chambered mufflers for around 570$ at jegs dot com that has a nice deep sound that isn't to loud at idle but over 3000 RPM can wake the dead loud. You'll have to check around for local shops to find prices for custom work, but some will install any kit you purchase for an hourly rate.
Q:I own a 05' Chevy Monte Carlo 3.8 3800 and I have the 2 dual pipes all factory with the mufflers, but I wanted to put the (Magnaflow exhaust)set up on it.Do i need to change everything or can I just change the mufflers and put the chrome stainless steel tips on there? or do I have to change the whole entire set up?What's an estimate of the cost?
To make it sound good you will need a kit. which is around 3-500 dollars maybe even higher. But if you put a muffler on then you will have to go behind the car to hear the noise and in the front you will hear the engine like you did befor the muffler. If you want to hear sound all around and inside the car get a full exhaust kit. It is expensive but it will get alot more horse power in the long run, save you gas money, and sound sick. It is a 3.8L so its not gonna have a v8 sound. It will most likely sound like a tuner but its fine.
Q:i want to get a new exhaust system, a decntly sounding one , including headers and the piping, and a new paintjob or blue glossy paint. How much would the paintjob be and how much would it cost to register the color wth my documents? also how much is the exhaust going to be, (ballpark a figure please) and the work for it?
back in 66 they did not have unleaded but they still sell lead substitute for the gas. if you change the heads and change the timing you can run unleaded. i changed the heads on a 74 ford truck once so i could run unleaded.
