Q: i cant find a catback exhaust system for a 97 3000gt base (sohc 3.0 v6). Does anyone know of any?: Go to a local Meineke and ask them to do it, they can not only do it cheaper but they install it for you. You'll have to keep the stock muffler unless you buy one from them. They specialize in exhaust systems. It's what I did on my Eclipse, if you're looking to change the exhaust tone (which is pretty much all it does), then the muffler mostly controls that. Well, that, the resonator and catalytic converter, but go for another muffler if you want to change that. That's exactly what I did to my Eclipse before I left for a little school called Hopkins Sweet deal, too, $300 for the whole thing.

Q: 1990 olds calais 4 cyl. I think. I have no exhaust system, muffler ,pipes, nothing. Car sounds like it wants to fall over and die. The only way to find out why your check engine light came on is to pull the code. IF your car is rusted through, you may need to get a new car, rust repair can get pricey, but there is no way of telling without looking. A quick fix would be silicone sealant. An exhaust will run $500 to $1000 for just the parts, with labor on top of that.

Q: Also out of curiosity what is a catback system and how does it differ from and exhaust system or is that just the same thing?: the term catback just means you're replacing the exhaust system from the cat (catalytic converter) all the way back to the muffler/tailpipe. Just leave it alone - Chevy put a good exhaust system on there that will last you for many years, replacing it will cost you money and gain you absolutely nothing except perhaps more noise. They do not add much (if any) power despite all the claims that they do. When you need a new one in a few years do what you want, but replacing it now is not money well spent.

Q: ok i have a 1997 mustang gt and i currently have glasspacks and they only pop and rumble when the car revs down.i want something that pops and rumbles from when u rev it up to when it revs down but keeps its tone and doesnt drown out i was thinkin about an slp loudmouth is this what im lookin for?: I had the SLP Loudmouth on my 97 GT and it only crackles on deceleration, not through the entire rev-range. The Loudmouth is basically a glass-pack system. The resonators on the Loudmouth are hollow, it's basically a straight through exhaust. An x-pipe may provide a raspier tone closer to cracking and popping.

You can buy cheap no-names or you can go for quality, name brand tires. The price difference can be substantial (especially if you go for high performance tires). Exhaust - the price difference between going for OE (original equipment) Honda parts and aftermarket is also substantial. Another question is what type of shape is the catalyst in. If you need to replace that as well, the exhaust system price can increase significantly.
