Q: My 1995 Jeep Cherokee Sport is in need of a new Exhaust System. We do not have any sort of inspection here in Michigan, so I was wondering if I could just do a straight pipe all the way back instead of adding the converter and then just add the muffler and tailpipe. Thanks in advance.
Not going to work. The computer 'tunes' the engine based on the O2 sensors that are sniffing the gases in the exhaust system. Without a cat, the exhaust gases will read as having too much extra fuel, which is what the cat would normally burn, so the computer will 'lean out' the engine to get the unburned fuel levels within spec. Also, if you ever try to sell it, it's illegal to sell a car with any of the federally mandated pollution or safety gear missing or not working.
Q: I have a 2004 VW GTI with the 1.8T in it.It has a catless downpipe which makes it sound nice and throaty on startup, but I‘m looking for more from it. I used to have a VR6 and it sounded excellent, and I really miss the exhaust note.Anyone have experience with putting an exhaust on the 1.8T? I want something that sounds as deep and gurgle-y as possible. Gracias.
Food beer toilet paper, and sleeping bag
Q: i dont know much about exhaust systems please enlighten me?
The system starts with the exhaust manifold at the engine which expels exhaust gases through the converter that helps to reduce pollutants, then goes through the muffler to reduce noise and finally out the tailpipe. So the muffler is just a single component and if it is defective will have to be replaced. Any muffler shop can handle this for you.
Q: Can you make a V6 sound throaty and not that crappy putt-putt sound?
Did you dry the pipe on the inside? ONE drop of water will ruin any attempt to solder the joint. What I usually do is put a small piece of bread into each pipe, it will suck up any water. Just make sure, when you turn the water back on, to remove the aerator from one faucet, and run the water through so the bread does not plug up the faucet.
Q: I am resturant owner and i need my hoods cleaned. I am seeking input for estimates on the cleaning ? Could anyone give any good referals on a decent hood cleaning crew? In michigan !!!!
Remove and clean out the IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE. Install a set of Denso Iridium plugs.
Q: I am considering to buy a magnaflow performance exhaust system for my 2000 honda civic, but I have heard some people say that it will not pass inspection. Please let me know if i buy it and install it, it will pass inspection? Thanks for your comments.
the respond on your question interior reason elementary, yet there are 2 a danger solutions. in case you want your automobile to be quieter, bypass with the inventory device. that's what GM designed it to do. once you're finding for extra ability, bypass with the magnaflow. The magnaflow replaced into designed to enhance ability, with the area-effect of generating extra noise. I easily have heard human beings communicate approximately gaining 20hp from not something extra beneficial than a cat-returned exhaust like this. needless to say, in case you advance in basic terms one area of the device you will see in basic terms somewhat benefit. in case you advance ALL aspects of the device, you will see great features. With a musclecar like this, the exhaust mod you reported right here is in basic terms the initiating. be careful: musclecars are addictive!
Q: I want to remove my entire exhaust system from my old CBR125R. Is it safe?
No, without carburetor jetting and tuning you will blow your engine in a hurry, plus it will sound ridiculous. If you want it to be louder, buy a performance exhaust for it.
Q: Hi everyone, I‘m looking for an exhaust system for 1966 Chevy Impala. The one I have now is all rusty, and I cannot for the life of me find a replacement, OEM or aftermarket. Does anyone know where I can get a full system? I‘ve looked at summit, year one, impala bobs, sinclairs, classic induistries, to name a few. And, though I doubt it exists, but does anyone make a dual exhaust to go with the Clifford Headers for an Inline engine? Thanks for the help!
Any competent muffler shop can fix you right up. Most have bend cards for cars as far back as the 50's. But since you seem to be looking for a custom exhaust and with the car/engine combo you've got the best thing to do is call your local muffler shop. Keep in mind not all shops like custom work because it does take longer to do and if they do take the work be prepared to shell out a few extra bucks for their time. But in the end unless you're really good.I mean REALLY good.you can't cobble up the exhaust system from pieces parts better than the pros can. For a good sound done right take it to a shop.
Q: I just bought a 2000 mk4 VW Jetta and the only thing wrong with it is the guy said the exhaust needs to be tilted up (it makes a rattly/grinding sound when accelerating) what exactly does he mean by that??
The exhaust system is a tight fit on the cars. It is routed in such a way that the pipes are very close to hitting different parts under the car even when everything is installed properly. If you have the car on a lift or securely on jack stands you can get underneath and have a look. Most likely one of the exhaust hangers or pipes needs to be tweaked to centre the pipe in the exhaust tunnel. Most often the pipe will be hitting the heat shield or the rear trailing axle but can be adjusted to clear them.
Q: the whole system from the headers to the muffler
Uranium, There are aftermarket exhaust systems that basically bolt on Those kits have the metal exhaust tubes prebent to accommodate vehicle application If you are not using one of those, then you will need to have a tubing bender, oxy-acetylene torch and good welding skills. I am a N.I.A.S.E. master tech. with close to 30 years experience and whenever I am replacing an entire exhaust, I just take it to the exhaust shop where they are equipped to do the job right the first time.
