Q: What is a CAT-BACK exhaust system?
It means you're replacing the exhaust from the catalytic converter back, meaning you're replacing all but the converter itself.
Q: On a 2000 Mazda MPV (V6), what happens if only the pipes are increased by 1/4 and maintaining stock muffler? Will there be any sort of increase in performance, if any?
There is a lot more to exhaust system design than just pipe diameter and muffler flow. Naturally aspirated engines create exhaust pulses. Exhaust systems must be tuned to allow these pulses to help pull the exhaust out of the cylinders. They are tuned to work the best over a large RPM and load range. Increasing pipe diameter *may* increase HP or torque over a small part of the RPM band, but usually at the risk of losing power in other parts. This is where the old idea of back-pressure more torque. Opening up the exhaust often moves the power band up higher in the RPM range, resulting in lower torque in the lower RPM's.
Q: rotten exhaust system transmission slips busted rear bumper it runs but its rough around the edges.
I spray all my insulation in. It's quicker and a whole lot easier. If your doing this in your attic they recommend about 24 inches.
Q: Hi everyone, I‘m looking for an exhaust system for 1966 Chevy Impala. The one I have now is all rusty, and I cannot for the life of me find a replacement, OEM or aftermarket. Does anyone know where I can get a full system? I‘ve looked at summit, year one, impala bobs, sinclairs, classic induistries, to name a few. And, though I doubt it exists, but does anyone make a dual exhaust to go with the Clifford Headers for an Inline engine? Thanks for the help!
Worth it cold air is more combustable then hot air go for it
Q: I have a 2LT V6 Camaro and I would like to make it sound a lot better. Should I get a new muffler Or do I have to get a whole new exhaust system? I don‘t wanna spend that much money on it though. Also what model should I get or what brand?
just get a muffler, it's cheaper and since it's a newer car, aftermarket stuff we be wayy expense. Compare a cat back system with the 2010 camaro to a 05+ mustang, a big gap in price. I when with the slp loudmouth 1, it's loud and has a low rumble. it's up to you what you like
Q: What does the automatic exhaust valve play in the water supply pipe?
Water in the heating of the release of gases such as hydrogen, oxygen and other adverse effects will damage the system and reduce the thermal effect, these gases can not be discharged in a timely manner will have many adverse consequences. Such as: corrosion caused by oxidation; radiator in the formation of airbags; hot water circulation is not smooth unbalanced, so that some of the radiator is not hot; pipe with gas running noise; circulation pump vortex and so on, So the system of exhaust gas must be discharged in time.
Q: Is there a huge difference from a full exhaust system to a slip on for sport bikes?
a slip on offers very little if any type of performance gain,in fact you dont even need to rejet or remap with a slip on. A full exhaust system actaully will make a differance in performance when properly installed. Thats why they give you the dyno numbers with the exhaust system.
Q: 07 Honda civic coupe ex ( automatic ), I‘m looking for an exhAust system that sounds good at a fair price no more or around $300.
you can get a full steel system .but prety expensive check it out they last a long time though and are good buy.
Q: ok so my 03 Honda EP3 (Civic Si) needs a catalytic converter nd the dealer sells the OEM part for $1770 without the labor.i suggested to my dad that instead i just buy a new exhaust system for my EP3 nd go to a shop nd install it but he says that the exhaust system wont come with a cat converter.is my dad right or do exhaust systems come with cat converters?
All manufacturers have extended emission warrenty on the catalytic converter. Check with Honda before putting out your money. This is explained in your owners manual. I just pick up your latest reply. The previous owner broke the emission law and I don't see how he sold the car without a state inspection. Go after him for the catalytic converter replacement. In my state, an inspection sticker certificate has to be shown before tags ang title are issued. You may have to bring in the county/state's Attorney Generals Office or ask a representative to direct you to the agency that can be of help.
Q: I had the 850 checked by 2 people.1 mech. says that my flex pipe from the manifold to the exhaust pipe is defective thats why I‘m hearing the loud noise. stated I need to get it replaced.2nd mech says that I need to replace my manifold pipe that there is a hole in it. (What are the chances of getting a hole the manifold?) one solution is little less then $200 the other is quoating $450.00+. I really have to step on the pedal hard sometimes on hills to move forward. I know something is breached because i‘m loosing presure excelerating. What do you think?
OK i had one like yours and i had the same problem with the exhaust , what i did was i went to junkyard and got an exhaust manifold for about $30 and the i installed myself is really easy to do that so dont go to a shop get a toolbox and get your hands dirty and save some dollars (Christmas is coming) and u will need some extra cash
