Q: if you already have the headers what else do you need for an exhaust system?
it all depends of what you want to do to your vehicle. just remember that what ever you do to the exhaust you gotta do to the intake. you simply have to even it out. some people put headers into vehicles to lose back pressure, and others may put thicker exhaust for the same reason. yet they forget that if bigger is not always better.
Q: I just bought a 88 civic to play with. It currently needs a new clutch and master cyl. Right now the muffler has rusted off and has no muffler on it. I don‘t have emissions here so that is not a problem, but what I am wondering is would it have noticeably more power wasting the money on a whole exhaust kit or would it really not make enough of a difference, if any difference at all if I just keep it the way it currently is. The noise doesn‘t bother me but since its only got a full 92 horsepower getting a few more would be useful.
No exhaust system, exhaust fumes in car, fumes can and do kill, possibily your death (and it has and does happen). so your choice.
Q: I have a 1996 Tahoe, V8 5.7. I wanna get an aftermarket exhaust but I don‘t want it too loud. I want a nice low rumble. Something attractive. I used to have a 1990 suburban 2500 with headers and a cherry bomb kit and my neighbors hated me I dont want something to hear from a quarter mile away. A nice low rumble, something sexy. Any ideas? Im not too familiar with exhaust systems.Maybe if you have a youtube video or something, that would be cool.Thank You
On my 95 Tahoe I replaced muffler with Flow master with 3 dia. pipes on in and out. Ran single 3 tail pipe out the back behind right rear tire with chrome tip added. Gives a low rumble sound with normal driving, will sound off a bit louder when standing on gas.
Q: Is it because the back pressure is out, How do i know what it should be.
Some cars are designed to work with back pressure. Yours is one so it seems. Giving it a straight through exhaust system may make it sound faster or deeper or throaty but did nothing for performance. So, in your case sticking with factory exhaust system is the best bet. Besides, when it comes to emmission inspections - they know you modified the exhaust (and they will probably ding you right there and then)
Q: The exhaust system is not free flowing
Is the noise intermittent with a random sound level pitch? Or is it a constant level of noise matched by the RPM of the engine? Random could be inferior metal used in the construction of the muffler. As the pipe heats up, the metal expands and contracts in different sections of the pipe causing the metal to make ping sound. Constant could be exhaust leak, valve adjustment, worn cam journals, cam chain tensioner.
Q: I drive a volvo 850 T-5 2.3L, Should I get a new high performance ECU first or work with my exhaust? how should I go about in modifying my entire exhaust? I like the ferrita cat-back exhaust IPD offers, but I also want to get a 3 downpipe. I will eventually get both, I just dont have enough money to get them at the same time. So should i get the downpipe first or the cat-back exhaust?
it usually takes a good 2 years at LEAST to teach how a car worksyou want to try and be a little more specific on what you need to know exacly?
Q: I have a 2001 celica gt and am debating on what to put in it. Should i put a turbo in it or just a full exhaust which would include, cold air intake, headers and greddy exhaust with high flow cat? which is going to pull more horsepower? i assume it will be the turbo but how much of a horse power difference will there be between the turbo and the full exhaust system?
The full exhaust would be more beneficial. The turbo would stress the engine way too much, and it would sound better with the full exhaust. the turbo might make your car to the speed you want sooner but it will definitely benefit your engine more to have the exhaust
Q: If there‘s ANY damage to the motorbike engine if you ride it without any exhaust system. And one-time-only vs long-run of doing that.I mean riding it without the exhaust system at all, not just the muffler/ silencer part.Thank you for any answer beforehand.
It would PROBABLY distort the air/fuel mixture, Every time you ran it.
Q: what exactly is a catback exhaust system and how is it different from any other performance exhaust system?
Polyester no I don't think so I would not try that
Q: I have a 2001 honda accord 2 door with a 2.3 L engine. I absolutely hate those fart can exhausts that are obnoxiously loud, but i do want a good sounding exhaust system
For a Honda accord i would NOT look into flowmaster, corsa, borla, etc. Those are meant for american cars with larger engines and sound like crap on accords. In my opinion, your best bet would be to get the Apex-i World Sport 2 cat-back setup. It's a very nice sounding system that doesn't have that ricey rasp and is not too loud. Another choice would be the DC Sport twin-loop setup. It's a fairly rare setup up and sounds very nice.
