Q: I have a 2012 Hyundai Genisis, and I‘m looking for an exhaust system that would sound good, but I‘m having trouble finding one. Thanks!
the exhaust pipe is not what makes the sound, the muffler does ! get the factory exhaust and put on a turbo muffler !
Q: I have a ‘96 Ford Probe that is missing the middle part of the exhaust system. I have the opportunity to purchase a ‘95 Probe and swap out the exhaust. How ‘practical‘ is it to do this with the help of another guy? Are any special tools required?(I believe it would be disconnected from the engine, correct?)Thanks for any insight you can provide!!!
To buy a whole car just for 1 exhaust pipe would be rather wasteful. Unless the other probe is extremely cheap, and you can sell it off for parts or part it out yourself afterwards you'd be spending more than if you just bought the pipe, or a performance cat-back system for that matter. The only exhaust pipe on a Probe that is hard to replace is the rear header on a GT. 4-cyl exhausts couldn't possibly be easier, and V6 is pretty easy outside of that one. If you want a stock exhaust, you would only change the pipe that's busted, it's broken into sections like this: Header Downpipe Catalytic converter Resonator Muffler and between each section will be a flange that bolts together with a gasket in the middle. When you replace the pipe, replace the gasket on each side of it with a new one. If you decide to buy a whole other car for the pipe, cross reference the part #s of the pipes on autozone or somewhere to make sure they're the same first as I know that a Borla exhaust for a '95 GT and a '96 GT are different lengths. Sorry if that's confusing, tried to pack as much info into as short a reply as possible.
Q: How much would it cost for a basic exhaust ( pipes and muffler )? A mid-level exhaust? The best exhaust system? Explain the difference in quality, performance, and how long each can last.
It all depends. The first thing that's important in picking an exhaust is what metal it's made of. 304 stainless steel is one of the better metals to have and often times they are covered by million mile or similar warranties. 409 stainless steel is cheaper but be warned that 409 is more likely to rust but may still hold a 10 year warranty. Aluminized steel is about as cheap as it gets but it's even more likely to rust than 409 and may have as much as a 3 year warranty from what I've seen. I would estimate most mufflers will set you back around $100-150 for stainless and $50-75 for aluminized. I got my Magnaflow for $90 with some luck at advance auto during a sale.
Q: I was wondering what kind of exhaust system to get for my Firebird 92. I am looking for the best one for the best price with the best performance for my model of Firebird. I would like it to be a dual exhaust I was looking at some of the flow master exhaust systems but all it said about them was what kind of series and not much about the performance. My car is just a regular Firebird and not a trans am so please don‘t think that it is just a 5.0L V8 engine with dual exhaust but still has a bit of fight in it but would like to add a bit more. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.
Dynomax UltraFlo SS cat-back exhaust system $317.00 from Summit Racing, for a good start. Flowmaster is restrictive junk, Dynomax outflows them by 48%, stock exhaust flow rates (in CFM) are even worse, completely horrific numbers! Headers are a going to be problematic, and engineering a true dual exhaust with X-Pipe crossover and still being able to pass inspection is an expensive proposition. You really might want to start with an Eddy (Edelbrock) High-Flo TPI manifold first and then play with exhaust system improvements. Real improvements in HP and Torque are accomplished with parts made of steel and aluminum not chips.
Q: Just wondering what everyone thinks, I know borla corsa etc all of the most expensive brands are the best (in my opinion) and a V6 will never every sound like a v8, but how would yous rank and compare Flowmasters, Magnaflow, Mac, Ford Racing performance parts, etc. for V6sThanks in advance!
Silent runners. I got 6 robos, 4 of the wehlls. No noise.
Q: I just purchased this bolt-on exhaust cat back system from Magnaflow. The part number is 16936. I saw a couple online videos of this system and they sound much more louder than mine after I installed it. So I checked around and I‘ve heard that some of them come with resonators that I can remove to make it louder? I was told that it is illegal to remove the cats and it is not an option to do so at this time anyways. the exhaust is for a 2007 Dodge Charger SXT 3.5L V6. Any help with this would be appreciated. My friend told me that his exhaust sounded stupid too until he took out the resonator or maybe something in the tip (I‘m not quite sure) then it was much louder and didn‘t sound so restricted. Thanks in advance!
you could take it to a shop and tell them to take the resonator and they will. With the CAT, it is illegal but there are places that will do that.for a price. With the resonator off it should sound better. I have a Magnum with the HEMI and the resonator on it and it sounds great.but that is the V-8! just take it to a tuner shop or an exaust shop and they will take that off for you.
Q: i have a 2002 dodge cummins 5.9. im currently stationed (Air Force) in california but im changing bases here soon. I want to upgrade my exhaust system to a 4 from the turbo back. What are the rules and regulations reguarding what i can and cant do to my exhaust system.
no it wont.it has no effect on the exhaust.
Q: My ex-girl friend purchased an exhaust system for my 2002 Toyota Celica (not knowing what she was buying of course lol) the system did not come with the mid pipe that connects to the headers so you cant even tell that that I have an exhaust system on my car. If I remove the Catalytic Converter on the car will it make it sound nice? Im looking for a good street/tuner sound. Or what should I do? Should I just buy a whole new exhaust system?
if you remove the catalytic converter from your car, you will need to replace it with a straight pipe. if you do this correctly, with a pipe that fits exactly, it will change the sound to a more deep throaty tone. however, you say that she purchased an exhaust system. does this mean catback exhaust, or a full headerback exhaust? if it is the full exhaust, from the engine all the way to the muffler then deleting the cat will change the sound dramatically, giving you that tuner sound. if not, it will sound more of what people call a rice sound. [meaning it will be loud and not good] i would suggest getting headers, deleting the catalytic and replacing with a straight pipe, and using an aftermarket muffler. [i use a flowtech raptor, which sounds very nice] without knowing what kind of exhaust system it is difficult to answer this question. deleting the cat will only sound good if you make other modifications as well.
Q: Whats the cheapest/best performance exhaust system on the market?
Vip is correct - you're asking for an impossibility - cheapest/best. If your system is already cat-back, you can salvage the piping and replace the muffler for one with a quieter note. Also, don't go looking for a tailpipe resonator with a big cone on the end - it acts like a megaphone and does nothing for power. Best bet to ensure performance without attracting attention is to get a decent flowing muffler, and put a decent diameter turn-down on the end, so the sound is directed down - not straight out. A complete system that cheap is likely just mild steel with a cheap chrome plate - guaranteed to rust at the seams in short order.
Q: I want a duel exhaust system on my mx3. it is a four cylinder engine, with a full stock system on it. I want to know if I can have a dual exhaust system put on, and if so what would be the pros and cons of doing such?
I tried to achieve the same results with a 91 accord. I put a header, test pipe, catback, and CAI on it. It sounded alot cooler but the mileage and power remained the same. Good Luck.
