- Q: Monday on my way to work (at 4:30 AM so I am beloved in the neighborhood), it was apparent to me that I needed a new muffler. I finally had a chance to look yesterday and, yep, there‘s a nice spot where it has rusted through. Now, if you want your sump pump replaced or a legal brief written, I‘m your man, but I know next to nothing about cars. When I take my car in to have the muffler replaced, if I am told that the exhaust system also needs work, how can I know if it truly does?
- sound like shop is trying to sell you more stuff than you needs. if shop is telling you the true story .tell them to put your car on the lift and show you where else exhaust is leaking.
- Q: i just dont know what the best ones are. many people have suggested the flowmaster T 40. any thoughts?
- Not safely, unless shaft disconnected. Would have to put transmission in neutral and if you hit a bump wrong it could go into gear and you'd obviously have a problem.
- Q: In my a6, the mufflers point down, making them unable to see bc they are behind the bumper. Would i have to get a new bumper to make them fit or is there something i can do with my bumper?
- if you purchase an exhaust system designed for your car you will not have any worries. if not then who ever installs it can cut off any excess pipping or they can even cut holes in your bumper to make them fit. professionally done of course. best bet would be to purchase one designed for that year make and model.
- Q: I have a 2004 2.3L I4 Ford Ranger. Is it possible to install a Flowmax exhaust system? The website only shows listings for the 4.0L V6. Also, what‘s the difference between an exhaust system and muffler in terms of sound and HP gains. Thanks!
- just cut your muffler off itll save u gas and ull get the sound u want.
- Q: Whats the loudest exhaust system i can get for my 1994 z71 with a TBI 350. I want it loud enough to piss people off when i pass by. In fixin to be 17 so ima get a exhaust system for my bday. And i live in east tex. so there aint to many people to piss off so it gotta be LOUD, Thanks peolpe.
- straight exhaust man i got a 89 chevy silverado and straight pipes with no cat is the that way to go if you curve those pipes to the side the noise will muffle pretty sure thats no good for the enviroment, but f**k the envoirment its f****ed anyways
- Q: I‘m have a G35 sedan in I want to put hks exhaust tips instead of the whole system will I still get race car sound from just the exhaust tips
- The exhaust tips are exactly what they sound like they are simply tips of the exhaust after the muffler, they don't really produce any extra sound or change in sound unless they are angled in a certain direction, nor will you get any extra horsepower or performance gains. You really need a whole free flowing exhaust system for maximum performance and sound gains, but you could just put different muffler on with the exhaust tip pointed downward to deepen the sound a bit along with a louder exhaust due to a freer flowing exhaust.
- Q: So I have a 1998 chevy silverado 5.7 4wdI want to get dual exhaust system on itI want a low deep growl but not screaming where it is annoying. I have heard people say do a catback on it. I don‘t really know how a catback works like is it just a new cat and piped straight back or is it a new cat and new muffler obviously aftermarket that I should do. I need some suggestions
- Perfect example of a wet blanketthe girl with the 'big girl blouse' comment. Lol
- Q: I have a 2005 dodge dakota with a 4.7 liter magnum, 4 wheel drive, locking differential, 40,000 miles, and an SLT package. But i was looking for something to do to my exhaust. And when i took a look around i noticed that there were 3, count em, 3 resonators under there. I looked more carefully and saw that it could unbolt into three sections. If i took the last two sections off still leaving one small resonator and exit the exhaust pipe out the back will that void the warranty i still have on my truck? the cats are still there and it shouldn't do anything about emissions. Will this cause problems in the engine with the fuel mixture? And any back pressure issues? let me know because i would not like to void my warranty. (and they can be put back on)
- Usually anything infront of the last O2 sensor you cannot mess with it will void your warrenty. Due to all the smog rules and regulations. To be on the safe side I would call a Dodge dealer and ask them what you are able to do to the exhaust without voiding your warrenty.
- Q: I have a 05.5 VW jetta 2.5L and i want to put a magna flow exhaust system on it. How hard is it to do this myself? And any idea how long it will take? I dont know all that much about cars but im thinking i can figure it out.
- Its not hard at all. Its mainly bolt on bolt off which is the hardest part if u cant get it off. if you break the bolts u can always get new ones Good Luck
- Q: Hello i have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP . I was pulled over the other night for having too loud of an exhaust. I know what i need, i need a new cat back. I was looking at the SLP cat backs . I was curious if they would make any difference in horsepower or should i just go with a new stock cat back? Help please
- SlP cat backs are usually loud. Get something stock better. I installed a ZZP DP with cats and it gave the GTP a nice deeper grumble. It wasnt too loud or obnoxious, cops never looked at me twice. Plus it freed up restricted ponies, you could feel the difference. Bottom line no horsepower with catback, only sound and style.
