- Q: Just wondering what you guys think, I really like the single because my dad had a Supra that had a HKS single exhaust and it sorta grew on me, but a lot of people I ask say I should go Dual. Is there any difference in power between the two? Are single‘s really looked down upon?
- Dual is the way to go if you have or plan the engine that needs the flow. It will still sound better than a single, but it is a little overkill and expensive if you don't need the flow.
- Q: Or do I buy it separate?
- It depends on the exhaust system you're buying. Most aftermarket exhausts are referred to as cat-back meaning it replaces everything from the catalytic converter to the back of the car.
- Q: I have an 06 Scion tC. I am looking to start adding parts to my tC, however, it looks like I am a little confused when it comes to which of the above to buy. I understand that an entire exhaust system will remove the stock pipes, guages, and muffler that my tC already has, but I am just looking for that aggressive sound. Would I need to replace the entire system in order to achieve that sound, or can I just got the inexpensive route and buy the muffler only? Would just the muffler give me some more HP? Would it increase or decrease gas mileage? Which is better longterm? Finally, I live in MA. I would like to get this system/muffler, but I also want to continue passing my car inspections. Which muffler/exhaust system would continue me to do so? Thanks in advance!
- First of all, if you want JUST more aggresive sound, changing the mufflers will be enough. It will give you a little bit of a performance boost, but only marginal compared to a whole new exhaust system. If you get a whole new one, it will give you a descent boost in HP, and sound even more aggresive. Its all about how much money you want to drop into it. I'd just start off with the muffler. Afterwards, if you arent satisfied, you can always get everything else too. Also, changing just the mufflers will not make you fail a safety inspection. If you get a whole new setup, it is legally required to have catalytic converters on it to drive it on the road. Hope this helps!
- Q: i‘m getting a new exhaust system (FM 70 muffler, o2 sensors, and tailpipe) but not the cat. convertor. will this rob it of power or sound different w/ a stock cat.?
- I in simple terms beefed up my '01 v6 with magaflow products. bypass to interior sight exhaust shops (or purchase proper the following parts once you've the mechanical skill) and get pricing for an X pipe after the cats with 2 magnaflow mufflers. Mine value $450 for parts and exertions and seeing that exhaust flows by ability of an X pipe extremely than amassing in a inventory Y pipe, again stress is decreased seriously. My vehicle has a positive, deep rumble (no ricer lawnmower sound) fairly between 2-3k on the tachometer. It also has more desirable gasoline mileage (a lot less artwork on the engine pushing exhaust out) and that i observed round a 10-12 HP (even extra with a chilly air intake) benefit in performance. now to not indicate, the motorized vehicle in simple terms seems more desirable with 2, vivid tailpipes adverse to at least one rusty one. be useful to ask about emissions attempting out if it applies on your section. chuffed looking, you is not really upset.
- Q: I have a built 455 with hooker headers. I need to find a good exhasut system to put on. I am currently running open cherrybombs right off the headers. What is a good exhaust to put on it? Im looking for something loud but also has a great muscle sound.
- toque converter most like - fells like it sliping
- Q: I have a 2004 2.3L I4 Ford Ranger. Is it possible to install a Flowmax exhaust system? The website only shows listings for the 4.0L V6. Also, what‘s the difference between an exhaust system and muffler in terms of sound and HP gains. Thanks!
- Guy, that's one of the slowest trucks Ford ever produced. Seriously. Save your cash on this one. An exhaust upgrade will just make that thing louder, and no one wants to listen to exhaust from an inline 4 engine. It's not going to be pleasant.
- Q: I currently have 2 holes in my exhaust system (1997 Ford Taurus with about 73,000 miles on it) and not the $750.00 it would cost to get them repaired (unemployed and desperately looking for work with little luck). I live in Illinois where we have to take emissions tests for our cars every few years. I‘m wondering, with these holes in the system am I gonna fail the test? Hoping for knowledgeable answers, thanks!
- id bet that the test would come back with results that say something like dilution, due to the air that is mixing with the exhaust. living in CA, we see that occasional.
- Q: What is the best exhaust pipes to put on an 2006 Suzuki Hayabusa for max horsepower gain slipon & full system?
- a full system will give you the most but you will need a power ommander as well. Stick with an Akrapovic leo vince or two bro's or yoshi a full system will set you back 1500+ and you may see another ten hp if your lucky. thats about 2000 w/power commander and a trip to the dyno. a good set of slip ons will get you 4-5 heres a link of some sounds just put the akrapovic on my kawi 1400
- Q: What are the best cold air intake and exhaust system for 2009 sti? anyone?
- I wouldn't suggest getting a Cai because of the risk of sucking in water, and if you want to upgrade to a front mount intercooler down the road you would need a short ram. With that said, you shouldn't run any aftermarket intake on a 2009 without some type of reflash or tune. For the exhaust, if price is no problem check out the exhausts from hks. I'm not sure if they make the carbon titanium exhaust for the 09 but if they do, that's one of the better exhausts you can buy. Now back to the reflash/tune issue. If you just plan on going catback you'll be okay, but if you want to go turboback, were getting back to the issue of doing more harm then good without sometype of reflash at the least. Plus if you really want to make any power with bolt on parts (not that a catback byitself will do much) you really need to reflash your ecu or get a tune. Get something like an accesport, and you'll actually get performance gains from your bolt-ons.
- Q: I have a 2002 cavalier LS sport, and i have a cold air intake on it. But i don‘t want to put an exhaust system on it because its like 700 bucks and i don‘t have the kinda money right now. What are some cheap things i can do to make it gain more hp and go faster?
- octane boost and premium gas will not boost performance, nor will premium fuel. Boosting octane helps in engines that run high compression ratios. The Cav you're talking about runs around 9:1 if I've read correctly. The performance gains from plugs and wires will not be noticeable on a stock vehicle. The entry level performance upgrades are almost always intake, exhaust, some will say chip though it depends on the changes the chip makes. You can lighten the car a little, but you wouldn't want to do so to the point where you sacrifice safety or emergency considerations on a daily driven vehicle (e.g., removing spare tire, jack, etc). Your next logical step is exhaust, since any performance increase is dependant on increasing fuel/air intake and pushing it out more efficiently. I would see if you can do it in stages; cat back / cat forward maybe and then move on to more in-depth mods from there.
