- Q: and what can i do to reduce back pressure as possible ?? thanks
- no the only time you will get any benefit from changing the exhaust is when you change the whole thing. the manifold is the most important part that's where the pressure issues start by fitting a 4 branch manifold you will allow better gas flow and reduce hot spots. unless you are thinking of doing allot of modifications i wouldn't change anything as a proper exhaust system an be very expensive if you gust want to make the noise than change the back box but that is all you will get no power improvement from doing so.
- Q: I just bought a new Focus ST, and I absolutely love it. It s a certified pre-owned, so I won t do anything that voids my warranty through Ford. But I m going to put a new exhaust system on it. I know I have to buy one through Ford and have the dealer install it in order to keep my warranty. I want something relatively deep and growly, but I don t want to break the bank. So what are my options? I ve done some research online, but I can t find any good answers or sound clips. And I don t plan on modding the car too much.Thank you in advance, and I hope to find something worth while.
- If you have to get it through Ford, then your only choice is the Ford Racing catback system, part number M-5200-FST. It's only one that won't give the dealership a possible way to void your warranty (it's a Ford part). As for the deep growly part. It's not going to sound like a V8 Mustang no matter what you do. Expect to spend around $900 for the catback system and about $200 for the install.
- Q: Ok so last year my dad bought a used 2005 Nissan Titan and it had a loud exhaust system on it. He is now giving the car to my mother and the noise from the exhaust really bothers her. We have no clue how to take it off, could we bring it to somebody. Would it coast alot of money?
- There are many chain muffler shops such as Meineke, Midas, CarX. Sears, Firestone, Walmart or any auto repair shop can do it. The price will depend on what was done to the original exhaust. If all it need is a stock muffler the cost should be about $100 to replace it. If it needs a complete exhaust system perhaps $400. Bring it in to a few places to get some quotes for exactly what it needs.
- Q: I have a 2003 ford mustang 3.8L v6. I would like to get a better exhaust other than my stock one that came with it. I would like to know how much it is to get an exhaust system installed, and if anyone knows any good places to buy them from. Can someone please help me out.
- Since I don't know where you live you will be a lot better off finding a family owned independent shop for two reasons. 1. The work will be done better. 2. The price will be better as well. You might be looking between $195.00 to $295.00 dollars depending on what type of exhaust you are looking for.
- Q: My exhaust system backfires. it consists of headers, pipes, and mufflers. i have been told that the back fire in the exhaust system (not the carb) would be caused by air in the pipes because of poor welds. i have also heard that an H pipe is the correct way of exhaust work, instead of two isolated straight pipes.is either reason right? aftermarket carb, bypassing emissions controls, ‘84 305 K5 Blazer.
- Sure. Totally normal.
- Q: can a clogged exhaust cause acceleration problems?
- YES of COURSE it can See SQUIGGY's example.
- Q: I have a Dodge Charger SXT. I want a dual exhaust system, do I have to purchase a whole new exhaust kit?
- its cheaper to purchase a performance exhaust system than to try and have one built for it,got to borla,s web site, they got a complete performance exhaust for that car, good luck.
- Q: i dont really understand what the difference is between different pipe set ups you got X pipe straight ect. care to explain (i could be wrong on the 2 suggestions i gave care to help me out understand exhaust systems more), does having a different pipe alignment help with horsepower or somthing because i know that turbos are related to the exhaust so would the direction of the pipeing increase your hp gain?thanks
- Start by telling us what type of car you have. Some people put big pipes on their car just to sound cool, some do it for performance. There is a delicate balance between engine size and exhaust size and performance. Factory pipes work best for noise and economy, x or crossover pipes work well with some and do nothing on others. Straight pipes work for flat out performance racing but do nothing on the street at normal speeds except make lots of noise. Most engines need a certain amount of back pressure which can be achieved through bends in the pipe or certain restrictions. I have done a 2.0 turbo motor with 2 - 2.5 and 3 exhaust wide open and with a muffler. Best power on a dyno was done with a stock 2 exhaust to the axle and a bend over it into a 3 pipe just for sound
- Q: Okay basically this motorcycle is just to quiet for my comfort. I want people to hear me. I am looking to do either 2 things. A.) drill holes in and around the tip of the muffler. (not sure if it will sound good after I do that) or B.) find a slip on or another exhaust system that is compatable with that model. I dont want the Vance exhaust its actually quieter. will a GSXR Yoshi exhaust fit?
- brake booster or abs system malfunction
- Q: I‘m going to buy a new after-market exhaust for my Altima coupe V6. I‘m not sure which of these sounds better since they sound almost the same to me. I know Nismo is under Nissan warranty for 1 year, but some say Borla has more hp. What you think ?
- Most exhaust systems won't give you much more than 10 hp if you have no other supporting mods. Borla makes good exhaust systems, but take into consideration, that those systems are mass produced for a large number of different cars. NISMO is specifically designed for the car, and lots or RD go into these systems to make them the most efficient. Plus like you said, it's got a 1 year warranty with it, which also won't void your warranty on your car. Putting a Borla system on your Altima Coupe may void your factory warranty. Keep that in mind when you make your decision.
