Q: I've looked around on google, but I could only find like KN intakes from 1995 and up. Does anybody know if there is even a cold-air intake available for a 93 XLT explorer? And also how do I figure out which ones are street legal?
The coldest cold air intakes are the ones that the vehicle came with use a drop in KN
Q: I was thinking of buying a fujita short ram intake for my 2005 Acura Rsx, but im not sure which one to choose, any help or answers? Thanks,
Both are fairly bogus concepts in a modern car. Your Acura, like all modern cars, already has a cold air intake. Any difference in restriction only appears for a few seconds at full throttle and very high rpm - at less than full throttle the throttle restriction is more than the air filter and at all but the most extreme rpm the stock filter restriction is negligible. The short ram is a throwback to the under-hood intakes that spawned cold air intakes in the first place. At high speeds it can bring cold air in decently, but that's about it. Perhaps the ram effect will help? Well, ram air pressure is ambient air pressure (just under 15 psi at sea level) times the square of the speed relative to the speed of sound at that temperature. 60 mph, for example, is 60/767 or .078 mach. The ram air pressure is .09 psi (0.078^2 x 15). At 30 mph the boost drops off to 1/4 that, .022 psi. That .09 psi at 60 mph is equivalent to reducing your altitude 150 ft.
Q: I have a functional SLP hood scoop. What is the best cold air intake manufacturer?
Don't listen to ms. ******** her information needs some massengil. Ram air and cold air intakes are HIGHLY effective on most big displacement engines (v8ideal) at higher rpm. Shouldn't run it in the snow/rain.for the winter you should plug it/run a different setup (wheel well cold air or short ram) If you're getting a functional hood scoop you should probably get their ram air intake/adapter from slp (they wouldn't sell the hood without producing an intake). It's basically a rectangular filter and intake ducting (likely flexible if the filter is actually in the ram air inlet).
Q: There‘s a KN intake for a 3.5 but doesn‘t work for the 2.5
The only thing a cold air intake adds to a computerized engine is the sound of the intake. Cold Air Intakes (CAI) are terrific in theory, and worked great before cars became computerized. With the advent of fuel injection as standard equipment along with computerized fuel / air control management, cold air intakes are no longer even feasible. The basic problem arises when you start making changes to the air intake, you also cause the computer to attempt to adapt to the new intake system, altered airflow and temperature of incoming air. You'll frequently have problems with your sensors when changing air intakes from stock to the after market intakes, and usually the only positive that results is the sound of the air intake. Performance is very rarely affected in a positive way by using an after market air intake since the computer will attempt to restore the original settings based on the original intake system for which it was programmed.
Q: I got a cold air intake for the dodge neon, and the crankcase hose doesnt have a place to go into the cai, what can i do with the hose or will i have to modify the cai to fit the crankcase hose too?
The hose you are speaking about, which I assume is the one which runs from the valve cover into the air cleaner, is designed to vent the engine crankcase during full throttle when the engine intake vacuum is too low to operate the PCV valve. While a pressurized crankcase is not a good thing, I doubt any harm would come from short duration, intermittent flooring it, followed by suddenly releasing the throttle, returning high vacuum to the intake manifold and actuating the PCV valve. Frankly, I would ask the CAI manufacturer how you are supposed to vent the crankcase without this fitting. If they say oh, you don't need that!, go somewhere else for your CAI.
Q: Is there a difference? Are all aftermarket intakes cold air intakes? How do I know its a cold air intake?
Do you have a turbo? Do you see any indication of hot air from the exhaust being introduced into the intake? Two no's equals a cold air intake!
Q: I need help installing an air intake for a 99 corolla. I have everything I need I jet don‘t know how to put it together or where these hoses connect to. Thanks
It should be self-explanatory looking at the factory intake (if it's not a universal intake). Usually they come with some form of instruction for installation but you really shouldn't need it because as I stated before it is completely self-explanatory unless it's a fender well cold air intake (kn has SOME) which I doubt it is on a corolla.
Q: What is the difference between the car intake system and the intake manifold cleaning?
The air intake system is no one to clean, must be dismantled, dust only, one of the air filter may need to be replaced.
Q: I have a V6 4.0L Ranger and im trying to buy a apollo cold air intake and i just want to know if it will fit before a go and buy it.
If the application says it will, it will. Call your local Oreilly and they'll give you which part number will fit it, then you can compare the correct part number with the one you plan to buy
Q: Will a AEM cold air intake for a 2006 TC fit in a 2008 TC?
no. there is a difference between the two. in 2007 the engine was revised with: new pistons, and rods. a new MAF sensor and revised intake track, with a new tune and oil squirters on the pistons and some stuff on the exhaust side. which is why you see the 05-06 160hp 5700rpm 163ft lbs tq 4000 rpm and a 9:6 compression ratio. 07 up 161hp 6000rpm 162ft lbs tq 4000 rpm and a 9:8 compression ratio. and then you'll also see options when buying an intake, there will be a 05-06 intake option and a 07+ option. so if you have a 2008 you need to get the 07+ option same with turbo kits too, theres the 05-06 option and 07+ option.
