Q: I have an 01 Cougar and was thinking about getting a cold air intake put in. Should I do this? Will it change the sound like I‘m hoping?
It's a mercury cougar. Putting an intake on is like polishing a turd. Total waste of time and money. Even if it does change the sound a little, it still won't sound good. Save your money for a better car.
Q: I've looked around on google, but I could only find like KN intakes from 1995 and up. Does anybody know if there is even a cold-air intake available for a 93 XLT explorer? And also how do I figure out which ones are street legal?
I can't tell you anything about a cold air system, but, L M C Truck lists a KN filter for '91-'94 Explorers with V-6 power for $49.95. Their part # is 50-3472 and it's 50 state legal. If you really want a complete cold air system, you might have to make your own as Don said. It's not that hard. Be aware though that these systems will make it easier for water to get into your engine, especially if you take it off road. This can cause serious engine damage up to and including hydrolocking the engine.
Q: i want to put cold air intake on her, but be fore i send the money on it i just want to know what it will do. Thanks
Nothing worth paying for. As was said earlier, a KN filter would get the same results. If you're looking at advertisements in magazines, they typically add the cold air intake to a built motor that had retained the stock intake, to show a modest power gain.
Q: cold air intake? cold air box? high performance air filter? short pulley?
Yes, it would make it much easier, because of the gravity. there's less gravity so it will be like picking up a piece of wood here on earth.
Q: i was thinking of putting an AEM cold ait intake in my bmw 323i and i have heard that in bmw cold ait intakes actually decrease power in a bmw idk if tht true or not and is it a bad idea to put one on it anywayz or no because im not sure how much horsepower it wld give
it doesnt decrease power and its a good idea to put that more hp torque and less gas
Q: What are the advantages and disadvantages of each?? And what brand would be the best. i want a sick sound to the engine and maybe a slight increase in power. i just dont know anything about these. i know cold air intake is more riskyy but thats about it. thank u!
get protective gear and start again. get your relatives to help you and learn
Q: i just bought a honda civic 1997 and everything was nice and at a reasonable price so i purchased it. he told me before hand it had everything but an air intake. so i said ok since those are minor and pretty cheap to buy. and when i drive my car it has a nice whistle air sucking sound like a turbo and it‘s pretty cool. so do i even need an air intake. what can happen if i dont put one in. what does it do anyway?
Two things will happen. 1 is that it will suck dirt and dust and what ever else feel like getting suck in at the time. 2 is that it will suck to much air and will run to lean which will burn valves in the cylinder head. Although it sounds good the ringing of the cash register wont sound that crash hot when you get the bill for repairs.
Q: What is the role of the engine intake system
The main air intake system of the engine enters the air through the throttle valve body and then becomes the air pressure, and the gasoline injected into the injector is then mixed into the tank and burned. I wish you a happy car.
Q: im getting a cold air intake for my 07 mitsubishi eclipse gt and i was wondering how to install it
It takes no thought at all because you don't need two of them! Your car already has a cold air intake on it from the factory when it was new. Spend $45.00 for a KN air cleaner for your present, plastic cold air box. Take the expensive thing back!
Q: like do these parts go in the same place? and would the cold air intake be better for my turbo?
First off, You can't have cold air intake and turbo. The difference between an OEM (Original equipment Manufacture) intake and a cold air intake is material of piping, filter design, how much dirt can it filter, and the density of air (how cool is the air). Cold air intake is a design consist of an extra length of piping that is stretched to move the filter to a spot that can suck in cooler air. Cold air is good when you are looking to increase horsepower in your mid to upper RPMs, but Some cars don't have the option to upgrade to cold air, but rather short ram intake. Now turbo, on the other hand, does not use the cold air intake design. I consist of: Turbocharger, Turbo Manifold (it replaces Headers), Downpipe, Intercooler, piping for intake side of turbo to intercooler, piping for intercooler to throttle, air filter cone attach to turbo, etc.
