- I assume you're asking about a car water pump. Inside of the pump casing is an impeller (a disc or wheel with vanes). The impeller is connected to a shaft that's connected to a pulley wheel driven by the drive belt from another pulley wheel mounted on the engine shaft. The pump, the radiator and the hoses make up a water filled, enclosed system. As the pump rotates when the engine is running, it circulates the water around the system removing heat from the engine and giving up the heat to the atmosphere through the radiator. ....

- You will need to remove the water pump and see how far down the bolt broke. You may be able to get hold of the bolt with vice grips and get it out. Worse case you will have to drill it out and re-cut the thread or use a bolt extraction tool, you simply drill a hole smaller than the bolt and the extraction tool turns the opposite way to the bolt thread and as it gets tight its meant to loosen the bolt in question. I have done this many times and it dose not always work so you may need a professional to do it.

- Pump has to be off Open the reservoir on the pump You have to use water already in your setup, fill a cup with it Fill the pump reservoir until full, then refill the cup, you'll need plenty of water you might need help here from someone at home, you also might need to hold pump, or the water might drain out as you work below Turn on the pump, while the pump is running,..... pour more water in reservoir until pump is pumping water. Have to close reservoir, then put pump where it belongs. In Pets Forum here, there's a sub-forum for reptiles, theres all kinds of help there for other turtle stuff. Good luck

- hi you need to get the workshop manual for your motor. You can go to the library I am sure they will have one. The basics though... make sure you have a lower unit gaskey set, a full water pump rebuild kit and the correct impellor. You need the manual so that you can locate the correct bolts to loosen and the procedure for disconecting the gear shifting mechanism. With the manual its an easy job. without.. its kind of pot luck if you have never done it before. I have changed impellors and water pumps on many different boat motors and i have aways used the manuals. Even now I would still use the manual as a reference to change the impellor and water pump housing in my Johnson even though i have done it before. The manual will probily cost about $25 but it will save you hundreds in the long run as you will be able to trouble shoot other problems.
