- Q: on my 92' toyota celica, i got the heater core by pass fixed and also a new radiator because both were leaking, and now my mechanic tells me i also need a new water pump , which can be really expensive! apparently it is leaking water too, so i was thinkng just filling up my car with water before driving until i can afford to get it fixed.. can this shortcut be done to prevent my water pump causing me further problems?
- You can do that, but you can't fill it with pure water because in time you'll have only water in the system which can cause problems. Antifreeze also increases boiling point of the water/antifreeze mixture thus protecting the engine... You should always add 50/50 mixture. Anyway, bad pump is generally bad for cooling. It is better to have leaking radiators than bad pump.
- Q: PUMP RUNS BUT DONT PUMP WATER
- I am not completely sure but i'll share my thoughts. I'm not certain but I think the water tank should have a seperate fill up. If your filling your fresh water tank and nothing is coming out of your faucet, my guess would be the water pump. Check and see if there is a reset button on your water pump switch. If not there should be a breaker for it located somewhere in the camper. But if you screw your water hose in to your camper and there is constant water pressure then there should be some water without having to use the water pump. If not then I'm stumped..
- Q: How much is the flow rate of fire hydrant and spray shared water pump?
- Fire fire water is superimposed, at the minimum, the lowest 5L/S automatic spraying fire hydrant, light danger level 13.9L/S, the least is 18.9L/S, but the data is useless, the data are not spraying fire hydrant, concrete analysis of high-rise buildings like the dangerous level according to the calculation, the general design, the concrete building needs the high-rise building minimum 20L/S, automatic spraying dangerous level according to the general 30L/S, 50L/S need to flow
- Q: Do I need to change the water pump if I replace the timing belt ? and does the water pump connect with the timing belt ? if the water pump goes out will it bend the rods ?
- There are always two reasons for which mechanic or the car owners should insist to change the water pump whenever, is time to change the timing belt -If your water pump is driven by the same timing belt; you should have to replace it ; or else you may pay more money for real serious damage in the future if it seizes due to high mileage on it or any fatigue of it,s own. -But if the water pump is driven with a separate belt . You should put that consideration in account for the reason to save money at this point, and furthermore prevent any Sudan over heating condition at any given time. The best way to know if your water pump whether driven by the timing or not ! You simply need to find out what type and size engine you have . Then you go to any auto part and ask them to show you the new pump. Try to show them some sign that you are going to buy the pump in order for them to show you the right pump. If that pump comes with a sprocket pulley. definitely is driven by the timing belt. If in fact your water pump is driven by the timing belt- Yes! you should anticipate to prepare a large amount of money to take care of that big damage within that engine( If that engine is interference engine )
- Q: Every year my family spends a week on a house boat at Lake Powell where it can get extremely hot in the day time. I'd like to build a mist system using pvc pipes and mist spray heads to help cool us down.I'm not sure what kind of water pump to buy? I've looked at different kinds from submersible to non-submersible, all with different amounts of PSI and GPM. I am not familiar with water pumps and could use some community insight.I want to make sure the pump I get does not burn out because of the back pressure it will get due to the mist heads only allowing a little water to escape at a time.I imagine my mist system would have 8 - 12 heads, reaching no more then 30 feet from water source to the end.Any pointers? Thanks!
- I am assuming your water source will be the lake …. I would be looking at a submersible pump possibly a pond pump but you need to know what the “lift” is going to be …from the point where you string the mister to the pump {possibly a 15 foot lift} and a pump that will give you at least 25psi. Because you are going to have back pressure, the submersible will reduce the risk of burn out. Also you need to build a simple enclosed container this pump can sit in, with at least a 4”water inlet hole covered with mosquito netting, nylon hosiery, or something to filter the water….otherwise you will constantly be removing the mister heads to clean
- Q: new switch and new tank
- Sounds like the thermal is cycling. Check it and clean out debris. (overheating)
- Q: I have a 2000 A4 1.8 T with 91 k miles on it. I went to the dealer for my oil service. I told them that I hear a quot;clinkingnoise when I start the car and that it goes away after the car runs for 5 minutes. I told them to check this also. They diagnosed and said that the water pump has gone bad and needs to be replaced. Since it was close to 105 K miles, I might as well change the timing belt. Total charges for both is 1250. And they also see that Cam Seals starting to leak oil. Since I was doing the timing belt, I might as well change them too. Additional cost to do them is 950. So the total for all three comes down to 2200. I bought the car at 90 K and checked it at Firestone and they said it was cool. They noticed an oil leak but said it was not anything major that needs to be taken care of right away. Do you think the dealer is taking me for a ride here? I just drove 500 miles and would things go this bad all of a sudden? Or should I make the replacements? Please advise.
- I used to work for a dealer, they price by the book, even if they are already in there.... so if say you want to replace your alternator and your belts, they look up what labor is on the alternator, and then look up what labor on the belts is and add them together, even though youd have to pull the belts to change the alternator anyways. So basically you get charged for labor twice under this system. A different shop should be able to do this cheaper. If your water pump is out you should be overheating...... If youre doing the timing belt though, you probably want to look into those cam seals, if they leak on your timing belt they will weaken the belt and maybe make it break, which is really bad if you have an interferance engine (meaning if the pistons are up and the valves are down they will hit, usually breaking/bending the valves). The dealer should know if its an interferance engine or not, or you could do a quick internet search. If the belt has never been replaced i would definately recommend doing it though. Whatever you end up doing though, i would get a second opinion from a non dealer. At toyota they would charge more for lexus parts than toyota parts, even though it was the same part with a different part number... you may be in the same sort of boat with the audi.
- Q: 90kw pump star delta start, in the end to use the circuit breaker, AC contactor (Star contactor, angle contactor), what kind of thermal relay?
- The first thing to take the star delta start voltage step-down start, star rated by reducing root 3 times, power is also reduced, 90kw / V 3 = 52kw starting current is 5---7 times will reach the rated current of 52kw * 2 = 104A, starting current will reach 500----700A is normal, if you match breaker sister ordinary 800, D at the beginning of the special motor, they start filtering instantaneous current, 250 can be,The star delta starts with only three contactors, and there will be no 4The contactor can be more than 110
- Q: My car is overheating and i don't know why just trying to rule out as many options as possible.Things it is most likely not: blown gasket/cracked head, both replaced 2 years ago and no tell tale signs I will be doing a block test soon, thermostat replaced it and put the old one in hot water and it opened, hoses replaced with new one two years ago, no leaks pressure test a few days ago. Things yet to be ruled out The radiator being clogged or not allowing good airflow, water pump impeller failure.
- Not nessesarily. because the pump could still be pumping , but leaking. When the thermostat gives out and the coolant gets low, then the heater will not blow cool air out. Anything that has a leak could be a cause for the coolant being low. Every time you remove the coolant from the system, bleed it by turning the bleed screw that is near the thermostat housing. be sure the car is hot enough before turning the screw slightly. You did not mention the year , model , and engine of the car. so I am assuming only. Radiator flush works well to clean out motors . Buy a can and follow directions. it may also be a coolant temperature sensor. This is a very important sensor because it affects the signals the Computer is getting. It may not run well. Have it scanned for a trouble code free at Autozone ot other store.
- Q: i need to change my water pump on my vw 1990 gti. the more details and/or pictures the better or links i can go to to show me
- you have to watch the timing marks and need a special tool for waterpump
