Q: Ac was working fine before the mechanic replaced the water pump. Now the AC only blows hot air. Is this related?: TELL US WHAT CAR AND WHAT ENGINE IT HAS !!! There all not the same. But since I'm here, I'll give you the bigger picture. MOST water pumps are buried under the front of the engine. That means to replace them you have to get the belts and other accessories out of the way. A bracket from the a/c compressor might have to be removed to get to your water pump. That shouldn't cause a problem. The first thing I'd do is see if the guy unplugged the a/c compressor pulley. It's just a few wires that connect to the compressor clutch. If unplugged you get hot air, and no a/c'. Find your a/c compressor and see if the plug is connected and not damaged. He didn't reset your a/c settings to heat, did he ? I'm sure you checked that first. He would do that to make sure the cooling system was full, after he finished the job. The A/C is not part of your engines cooling system so it wasn't drained as part of the pump job.

Q: what size and what type water pump do i need?i am wanting to pump water from a river 345'-0 up hill at 45deg angle. i would like the water pump located at the cabin where the water dispursement would be. is there a pump that would allow me to do this. also, what size piping should i run from the river to the cabin. i can fabricate my own collection box at the river.any suggestions would be appreciated.: Your pump rating will depend on the requirerd flow and so with your pipe size requirement. A goulds submersible pump can deliver heads up to 500 ft.

Q: One repair shop on the phone says I will need new water pump, coolant flush and *850.00. On the other hand the dealer says I may need tow other drive belts (alternator +). Second dealer says I may need a water pump! I do not wish to get stuck with extra costs! any one with experience?: my question to you is .why are you going to a dealer for repairs on a 1998 car? there are plenty of good repair facilities out there you just have to ask around. and yes i would also replace the water pump at this time and have them use a timing belt kit .

Q: I am trying to replace my old water pump with a new one. I have the quot;special tooland everything but i just cant get the water pump to come loose at all. Any suggestions would be helpful Thanks: When you mean it wont come loose, do you mean you cant break the bolts loose or is the pump stuck on the motor like glue? If the bolts are stuck, try spray them with penetrating oil and let it work in for about 30 mins. If the pump is stuck, use a narrow putty knif, gently tap in between the pump and the block, and pry it off, then clean the mating surface completely to ensure the new pump seals properly.

Q: im thinking about buying a 93 ford taurus for $950. the owner says it will probably need a new water pump and brakes in the near future. is it worth it? i dont know anything about cars!: New brakes are not a huge expense unless the discs need machining. Brakes should be done regularly as a part of on-going preventative maintenance. Water pump is not a big ticket item and is so easy to get at. Make sure you get a new gasket as well. Maybe $200 for brakes unless you know someone mech minded. $70-$80 for water pump plus fitting

If on the other hand there is wet ground around the outside of your basement walls, then you have a drainage problem. The water is not reaching your weeping tiles. Get someone to dig down to the tiles and cover them with your municipality's recommended level of gravel/sand

Q: I've noticed after driving my car for a while recently it squeals while accelerating. I'm wondering if its the water pump cause I've had a coolant leak for a while. I poured alluminum sealer in the reservoir and its stopped the leak almost completely though. If it was a broken pump, would this sealer have stopped the leak like it has? I drive a 2000 saturn sl2: Coolant from water pump can leak on the belts and cause a squeal. So get some belt dressing to stop that. All things can be fixed with cans from auto stores. Fix a flat is good stuff too.

Q: I have 2000 ford ranger v6 3.0 I replaced the water pump ten months ago and all of a sudden it's running hot it only runs hot when I stop for a second at a red light or stop sign. I changed the radiator today but still is running hot. And I took the thermostat out last week: You're looking for an answer that may be hard to find. Have to assume the water pump and radiator are good. But there's a lot more to the cooling system. You could have one or more issues. For one, we don't know how well the water pump is spinning or if you changed the pulley so it's spinning slower. You have coolant channels in the block that go through the head gasket into the head. In a 12-year-old car, these channels could be partially blocked with crud and sludge. Stop buying parts and take your car to a good radiator shop. Possibly all you need is a good chemical flush to get rid of the sludge. For starters, turn on the heater which might keep the temperature in the operating range, but get some help from a radiator shop. ... Good luck!!
