Q: what are some common problems that are possible in a car exhaust system? how can they be repaired? how can the exhaust system be maintained? (to prevent problems) (i.e. checking stuff, putting some kind of filter, or fluid etc.)
Not much. There is no maintainance on the exhaust system except maybe for the rubber hangers that hold up the exhaust. Sometimes in older vehicles, oil leaks from the engine might pass through to the exhaust (unusual oil smell) and clog/damage the oxygen sensor that is connected to the exhaust. Depending on the actual exhaust material, this might damage the muffler itself. There is no actual schedule maintainance for the exhaust system.
Q: Exhaust systems, catalytic converters ,mufflers, muffler tips?
I've been having the same problems but I've been doing some reading. Muffler tips are mostly cosemetic, they are just for looks. They make your exhaust look nicer on the end, muffler is like a fart can they cost as much as 200 but as cheap as 20 bucks. They are mostly for sound and weld or attach onto your exhaust. An exhaust system is from what understand is from your engine to the back of the car, it gives a nice sound and is ussually 500-up in price they are an hp increase and let your engine breath better
Q: I have a 1996 Jeep Cherokee Country 4wd 4.0L 6cyl. I was told I need a whole new exhaust system and it would be $1,000 at the shop. I was hoping to buy the parts and have a mechanic friend put it together. What do I need? I know I need a Muffler, Tail Pipe (is that the same as an exhaust pipe?), and a Catalytic Converter. I‘m sure there‘s more so if you could please tell me that way I can get an idea how much it is to fix in parts alone. Best Answer gets 10 points, thanks!!

Q: I just bought a 2003 audi a6 2.7 twin turbo. I wanted to buy a new exhaust to make the car really loud, but i don‘t know much about exhaust systems. I was wondering if i have to buy the whole exhaust system or are there certain parts that you can buy that‘ll make the car loud without spending as much as you would buying the whole system
nope my front tire on mine harley lasted 630 carefree miles. Then I installed Bridgestone Battleaxes, and never had another problem With the tires
Q: I have a 1987 s10 2.8l v6. I have a shitty exhaust and catalytic converter. i have a year before my next inspection so i was wondering how much would it cost to take off the cat, and run a new exhaust system without the cat. i‘m talking new piping and new muffler.
Well, if caught, could cost you and/or the shop doing the work $10,000 since it's a federal offense and that is the maximum punishment for tampering with emissions systems. You can probably buy a whole replacement pipe set (with muffler) from somewhere like summit or jegs, made for your truck, which may save considerable expense and hassle since you can do the work yourself. If that is a flat catalytic converter (as opposed to the newer round ones) then yes, they are pieces of junk, but to keep from smelling exhaust all the time, I'd certainly recommend investing in a $70 replacement one of the high flow varieties. Especially if you are going to have to be tested again in the somewhat near future anyway.
Q: I have a ‘11 Mazda RX-8 GT. Looking into performance and sound upgrades :)Any help is appreciated!
something is wrong. Cold Air intakes are designed to increase horsepower due to an increase in fuel/air ratio. I'd recommend double checking to make sure if everything is right. It could be your MAF sensor or maybe throttle body.
Q: What is a good exhaust system for an RSX base that will still pass smog.?
ok here are a few but each has its own thing1st greddy exhaust passes emissions.but it doesn't sound as loud as most would wish it to. next is apex world sport exhaust ws1 or ws2low sound exhaust which gives great sound when hitting v tek note but on low rpms its silentpricey but good also. the magnaflow is nice however its louder than the ones i just mentionedalso a bit pricey but its good.skunk 2 is great all around but also very loud so i guess it depends what you want and i recomment any tuner or person not looking to get to much attention from cops or others the worls sport from apexi. looks almost stock quiet and you get great power out of itgood luck making your choice average prices for full exhaust systems cat back start from 350 bucks up to about 700 bucksso if you got a budget do your reasearchsites like honda tech and acura forums can help alot.
Q: I own a 150cc bike, and I am looking at ways by which I could increase the pick up without tinkering too much with the engine.I am considering using a free flow exhaust system, but I am still not very clear about how it workswhat would you recommend?Thank youPS: I understand that a 150cc bike is not mean‘t to be a power monsterbut I‘m sorta sentimentally attached to this bike, so I don‘t want to buy a new one
Pilgrim has absolutely nailed this answer down. And it my case it was pure passion. I ate, slept and breathed choppers and, now that my knees are shot and I really can't ride much any more, I still eat, sleep and breathe choppers. I started with a 1400 Intruder and made the chopper of my dreams. The rest is history. When the right ride comes along, you'll know it or you'll build it. Live to Ride, Ride to Live
Q: They will be for a 2008 HD Road King. I‘m not looking to shake windows in my neighborhoodjust something louder than stock. I‘ve been looking at Cobra slip on‘s.
A true dual full exhaust system will always be better than just slip on mufflers. But there are a lot of good mufflers out there like Reinhart, Sampson, Vance Hines, D D, and many others. I went with the true dual system from Cobra exhaust.
Q: i have a 08 r6 looking to buy a full exhaust system sounds awsome but also has good performance aspects
dude those new Yamaha's have titanium pipesjust get a different slip on and call it a day. if anything take out the exhaust valve thats located in the pipe its self and go get a power commander
