Q: Which Cold Air Intake would be better for a 2002 BMW 325i 2.5L Which brand makes a better product witch brand is more compatible with BMW Im having trouble deciding between the two.
Get a Dinan intake for it, its made in partnership with BMW and doesnt void any warranties. I have an e90 with a Fujita intake and the sound is amazing and upper RPM power is great
Q: if i was to buy one would i need a bigger exhaust system to let the air flow better or can i use the factory on and what are some good cold air intake brands
really 15hp is a load of bs the most you'll get is 3 to 6 id recommend bomz piping with a kn filter same aluminum pipe for $100 less reason for intakes is for sound and better airflow thru the engine.
Q: how do u install the cold air intake on a 94 honda civic and what is the best exuast system setup to get for it to get that deep tone bumble bee sounds and would i need headers to get that sound
Installation procedures vary by model of intake. Most come with instructions.Just clamps and screws, not intimidating. Why do you want to put a Coffee Canmuffler on your Civic? The droning noise at Cruise will drive you berserk. Most Japanese in-line fours require some back pressure in exhaust to run efficiently.Research the key words Performance Honda exhaust Google and pay attention to specs. You can get stuck with an exhaust that may not meet emission standards in some states.
Q: Does anyone know where i can find a cheap AEM cold air intake system or a v2 intake system for my Mitsubishi eclipse gt? I was looking at the short ram intakes and they are allot cheaper but i don't think they can give you as much of a power boost, am i right or just an idiot? Because internet explanations have been shaky at best.
go with whatever the cheapest intake you can find is. in the end, the only difference aem makes is that thier intakes are carb legal, but this should only matter if you live in california. nowadays every intake has been designed after all the brand named product so it does not really matter. as far as to buying a cold air intake, rather than a short ram, you do get colder air thus getting more oxygen atoms into your combustion chamber. with a short ram intake you get the hot air from the engine until you begin to move and cold air enters the engine bay. With the cold air intake you have the chances of hydrolock if you live i a place where it rains, but a bypass valve would solve that problem.
Q: I have a 2001 chevy z28 camaro roadster with a functional ram air intake hood. Stock airbox underneath 5.7 l v8 with fuel injection.Kn makes a cold air intake kit for my make and year.is it possible to have both cold air intake and ram air intake running in the same car?? or can you only have one type of intake system. Thanks!!
If the ram air hood connection to the intake is sealed properly, then it acts as both CAI and ram. The problem is what some manufacturers (and enthusiasts) call a ram air. The formal definition is an intake that takes pressurized cowl/hood air and ducts it directly to the engine. A CAI is a system by which the intake is fed air that isn't pre-heated by the engine. If I'm not mistaken, the SLP-massaged fourth gens had functional ram-air setups nearly completely isolated from engine compartment air; I'd consider that both cold air and ram, if you look at the definition. Don't go buying a standard-issue CAI thinking you can plumb it to the ram air, though. I know my KN takes its air from the driver's side, in front of the wheel housing, and takes a molded duct - it wouldn't be adaptable to a ram air hood without discarding about 80 percent of the kit! The ducting will have to turn up and fit to the ram air setup with a foam-lined (or closed cell rubber) gasket to isolate the unit. Its a specific set up and won't normally be called a CAI. BTW, please, please, please. Don't call a fourth gen a roadster! I sold my Miata roadster to buy my Z28
Q: So I just installed a cold air intake on my 2011 toyota corolla and it really made a difference and I like it. Better mpg, more horsepower. But the engine does idle at a slightly higher rpm and feels different starting up. Is this normal? Also should I not be so nervous about the intake. I feel like something is going to come loose but I followed the instructions meticulously but I guess thats just me.
Better mpg, more horsepower, ? ,,, not . that is just your imagination.
Q: i wanna to modify my stock f150 air intake to improve the flow and horsepower just alittle.i have a 2006 f150 with the 4.6l. ( high flow exhaust with exhaust tip). i am going to buy a KN cold air intake at the end of summer. but need a cheap fix for now. thanks for looking
The intake you have on the truck (you mention it is stock) is the best. Ford spent a lot of money designing it for best fuel economy and most power from the engine so a larger engine was not needed, both in the interest of meeting CAFE standards. KN doesn't care half as much. Cold air intakes are relics of the 1960s and 1970s, when carburetors typically took in air from the top of the engine. In those days cold air intakes, which brought air in from outside the engine compartment, made a real difference. Today they are no improvement at all in everyday driving, and even the slightly reduced intake restriction of the stock intake only makes a bit of difference at full throttle and the engine near peak horsepower. You will never be able to tell the difference. In return, slower warm-up due to not taking in heated air during warm-up means more fuel consumption and longer waits for the engine to be ready to put out power.
Q: I already have a bullydog Triple dog tuner (have had it for 2 years s great as far as making the truck get up and go and have had no issues) and am looking to install a cold air intake. What brand would you suggest I install? I‘ve also heard that instead of installing a cold air intake, just upgrade the air box at your local ford. Which is better? I‘ve also hear that I should finish it off with a larger down tube/exhaust for lower EGTs and performance. What is a down tube/exhaust? Thanks for any advice!
copper, inside is hollow. John is correct ^^
Q: I have a injen cold air intake on my mitsubishi galant 2.4l I4 auto, and with winter coming up I was going to switch to short ram im just wondering if launch would improve if the air takes less time to travel.
On a cold start, the throttle response for a short ram is much better than a cold air under any conditions. A good short-ram maintains good airflow velocity, as opposed to a cold air, with its longer piping. Once the engine bay heats up, the short ram loses a bit of its edge as the air is less dense, leading to less power. However, as I mentioned, on a completely cold start the short ram can give a pretty ridiculous launch. I'd recommend it over the cold air; the overall power difference is negligible, to be honest, and the cold air comes with more risks: Hydrolock, filters are lost easier, etc. And in my opinion, a short ram just looks much better anyway.
Q: I have a cold air intake which is close to the ground. I am in fear of water getting in it, from a puddle or from rain, scence i live in a very rainy area. So i really want to know how much water it takes to cause damage to the engine? (e.g. cup of water, tea spoon of water) and what to do if it does?
Well first of all to eddie m. the heat does not burn all of it off it is very possible to get water into the engine. It only takes a little bit to cause problems. If any gets in the engine it will most likely stall. If water gets into the engine it will cause rust on the piston cylinder walls, in the head, the valves, its just plain and simple bad for the engine! To solve this you can order what is called an air bypass valve that aem makes. It installs on the upper end of your intake system. It works amazingly! And will solve all your problems with water whether it be a small puddle or if the filter is totally submerged. and it also doesnt cost that much. I know my cousin had water problems with his intake and this fixed it all together!!! I am 100% sure its what you need. good luck let me know if you have any more questions
