- You might need a new foot valve. That keeps the water from draining back into the well. Depending on what type of pump you have, could be at the bottom of the well. To bleed the well, you need to remove the plug on the motor...it looks like a nut...about 3/4. You remove that and fill with water...when its full, turn the pump on and keep filling it till it gushes out...put the plug in (with new teflon tape) and it should work. Be careful not to touch the electrical, could get shocked. Its easy if the foot valve is good.

- sounds like the car broke down so we are past the waterpump itself if you drove it until it stopped running. Unless a mechanic filled it up with water just to see how it runs after it cooled off its not possible to tell anything yet. It needs to get checked out at the shop. Once you find out what kind of damage is done we can telll more. I suspect you may have to check your important fluids a lot more often if you want to keep your car in good condition. If you ran it out of water and drove it until it damaged the engine it could be expensive to repair lets hope its not too bad ok? good luck
- Q: Water pump located on the ground floor of our 10 story building is leaking and therefore it is constantly running and spilling water into the parking lot. Therefore, a plumber shut the water pump off and opened a bypass valve.After we shut off water pump all units still have good water pressure so why do we need to replace water pump?When water pump is on the incoming city water gauge reads 60psi and the gauge measuring the water shooting up into the building reads 80psi. Now both gauges read zero.How can water coming from the city at 60psi travel all the way to the 10th floor without a boost? I do not understand what is happening.
- the pump may have been required before the city up graded their water system. and now it may not be required. but if it were me ? i would replace the pump . Then continue to use the bypass. the reason is , because one day for various reasons the public water pressure could suddenly drop. And then you will and emergency. or at least buy the pump and store it .. So if this ever happens you just need to pay to have it installed. This way you are prepared for what will prob happen someday. but 10 stories ! i am with you . i would think you need a pump to do that.

- its possible. i dont reccomend it, but if you do, get a couple or few gallons of just water, depending on how big your radiator is, and keep an eye on your temp gauge, if it starts going up, shut off your car, wait 5 to 10 minutes, carefully open the cap on your radiator, and put water in it untill it fills back up. i had a busted water pump i drove 20 miles on everyday for about 3 days untill i had time to fix it, it wasnt a bad leak though, and that still sucked, i would honestly just pay the small amount for a tow truck for the 5 miles.

- Hi, It seems to me your question is miss- worded or it simply flew over over my head. I'm intending the same project when time is there for it. I m a' machine builder by trade as also an oilfeild welder so tend to trust my plans about design. My answer to your question is you can't suck water from a plugged pipe except one tiny amount that would create a vaccum. My plan is an inline hot water pump(automotive type) to go to and from the water heater while the pluming route may have radiators or other heat transfer sourses like plane pipeat various points of the house return in an open pipe flow lie.Thermostate control hooked tothe electric motor that drives the water pump
