Q: HiThe well in my house is around 60 feet(20 meter). And the tank is 10 meter above the ground. My pump is Kirloskar Jet 1.5HP . It use to fill 500 Liter tank in 20 minutes. But now a days it is taking around 45 minutes to fill in. The pump is around 10years old. But it sounds good. Is it a problem with Pump or something else like Foot valve, Pipe, Pressure adjustment etc? . Do I need to change the pump? Which one is best suit for my well?. Submersible or Jet or something else?
It's possible that your pipes are closing in and it's possible that the screen in your well is clogging up or the inpeller is going bad. Do you have a holdin tank above ground? and is it an aerator as well ? You may even have cloogged diverters or sprayers
Q: my basement flooded and the water came in contact with the wiring on my water pump. Now the pump tries to turn on but shuts off without pumping any water. How do i get my pump pumping water again?
sounds like the bearings locked up...best to replace it
Q: I have a 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis vehicle. How do you know when the water pump is going. Is their any particular noise I should be hearing.
There is no noise associated with a water pump going out that I am aware of other than the engine exploding due to excessive heat. The dash guages; especially the engine temp guage, will give you a clue as to a cooling problem, whcih is what the water pump is for. The water pump prevents the engine block from overheating. When the pump fails, the engine overheats and will either shut down, or the engine will burn out. The best way to tell is to monitor the temp guage. If the engine is running hot, it either the water pump, lack of water in the cooling system, or Thermostat failure. Best to have a mechanic check it out. Cheers!
Q: What is the difference between self-priming and non self suction?
Self suction pump, pumping water conservancy machinery used, composed of a pump body, a rotating assembly, leading assembly, trash cover, and inlet and outlet pipe, a blocking net general assembly; start the motor, dynamic linkage, rotary assembly in promoting the impeller centrifuge, bubble up surging, generates suction. The air inlet pipe, the outlet pipe from the pump body, air exhaust, water outlet pipe outflow, the water pump, excellent performance, deep suction lift, large flow operation, saving time and labor, is the most excellent mechanical pumps in the realistic society.1. self suction pump, as the name implies, pumping tube is under the condition of air, use form a negative pressure pump at work (vacuum), under the influence of the atmospheric pressure will be lower than the water pumping port, then discharged from the pump discharge end. Before this process, there is no need to add "diversion water". The pump with this capability is called a self suction pump".2., some centrifugal or rotary vane pump, before absorbing water, you must add "water diversion" in the pump cavity to form a closed environment, and then pump operation to form negative pressure, to achieve the purpose of water absorption. For example, a manual pump used in rural areas. No self-priming capacity of the pump, each time before adding water to add "water diversion", it is very troublesome.
Q: I have a Goulds JPlus water pump inside my home. Last night, my wife and I heard it going on and off repeatedly when we went to bed. I have two shallow wells hooked up to it, so I switched wells even though I didn't believe the one I was on was dry (it was supplying H2O fine).Still no luck, so I turned it off at the breaker and shut off the valve between the tank and pressure switch. Today, the pump pressure gets to between 50 and 60, then goes off. It then loses pressure v ery quickly (approx 10-20 seconds) and goes back on when the pump switch hits the lower threshold. It sounds like the water is running back through the pump and out of the house when it goes off unless I turn the shut off valve I spoke of earlier. I changed the pressure switch and no difference.I can, however, turn it on and shower, flush, etc. I just then have to go down and turn the pump back off.Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Tommy is correct in saying that a proper air bubble in the top of the water storage tank is needed to provide a slowly declining pressure on the system as water is withdrawn. But if no water is being withdrawn inside the house then a check valve preventing a backflow through the pump discharge and allowing loss of water in the pipelines to the individual wells is leaking. It needs to be replaced.
Q: Water pump quot;leakingbut not dripping anything. how important?my 04 tacoma has a quot;leaking water pumpquot;. I just see some pink fluid around the seals, nothing is dripping. toyota dealer didnt make a big deal about it, just said i should get it done soon. heck they didnt even tell me, i just saw it on the receipt.other mechanics said the same thing. quot;whenever u want to do it we'll do it.is it not an hugely important mechanism or what? how long can i go without doing it? the first symptom would be the engine getting a little hotter? its been like that for 5-6 months.
Water okorder / They are typically not very expensive, and many are easy to replace yourself. You will need to get it replaced sooner or later, so I would go ahead and do it now before it leaves you stranded or causes and accident.
Q: I have a quot;Rainbow Lifeguard Quiet One 6000external pump that I would like to use on a new chiller for my tank. The pump is rated at a little over 1500 gallons per hour. I'm debating between a couple of chillers, one that has a max flow rate of 1300 gph and another that has a max of 960.I know that you are only supposed to put any valves on the outflow side of the pump and lessening the flow to 1300 from 1500 doesn't seem like it would be that big of a problem, but I was curious it cutting it back to 960 would be hard on the pump in the long run. (I'm leaning towards the bigger chiller as although it may be overkill for my tank, it would let me have a little more water circulation.)
I wouldn't restrict it more than about 10% or so personally. I would ask you to think about this: The rated flow rate on a pump is under perfect operating conditions and is usually a mathmatical model that cannot really be acheived in the real world. Your pump probbaly is several gallons per hours behind that. If the tank is on a stand and the pump on the floor, the head pressure alone may slow it to 1300 or below. Additional tubing, especially hard angles will further reduce the flow. I would suggest you get a flow meter ( you can probably borrow one from a plumber for a day) and test the actual flow rate in your set up. Remember that the chiller will further reduce the flow itself. Odds are good you are closer to the needed 1300 than you think. You can also install a small diverter valve in the line. Basically splitting the output from the pump into two lines. One can carry about 1250 GPH and the other the rest which it just returns to the tank unchilled. Hope that helps MM
Q: will a water pump that has gone out in a car make water come out the radiater
Yes and no. If it is not pumping water. the water over heat and come out. A blow head gasket will do the same. A bad Thermostat will do the same.
Q: Iv got a 2002 Chrysler Sebring with a 2.7 in it and recently it started leaking coolant, its been determined that i need a new water pump. Iv gotten quotes from various places and various prices but there all telling me i need to replace different things. One guy said i need a timing kit, the other guy said i dont need a timing kit but need valave covers and a couple other things, another said i dont need anything but the pump itself. Im lost and the leaks getting worse and i need to make a decision but dont know what to do. Some insight from you helpful people would be great!
In Your Vehicle The Water Pump Is Run by the Timing Belt. If It Has been Leaking It Will have Contaminated the Timing Belt, Which Has to be Removed Anyway To Replace the Water Pump. So Replace Water Pump, Timing Belt and Tensioner And Coolant. It is Also Recommended To Replace the Thermostat At This Time.
Q: Can a car turn off due to a water pump. I am thinking of buying a car that the water pump needs to be replaced, everything else in the car its fine, it turns on lovely but after a little while it turns off, the owner says its because of the water pump. is this possible?
I don't think so. Replacing the water pump on most modern cars is not the cheapest thing to do, though it's often near the timing belt which needs to be replaced every 60,000 miles too. I would walk away from this one. Doesn't sound right to me - or it better be a grand or two or three under blue book as you've got some repairs to do before you can drive it. The reason he hasn't replaced the water pump is because it aint' cheap to do so.
