Q: I am putting in a new water pump this morning on my 2006 chevy trail blazer and i rented the clutch fan removal tools but im new at this and i cant afford anyone else to do it. any advice for a rookie it looks so simple am i wrong: It is very easy and straightforward. The hardest part is the fan clutch unless you have the proper tools. You have that part covered. DO NOT USE ANY SILICONE SEALER!!!!! Be sure all traces of old gasket are removed and install the new gasket dry. Use an anaerobic sealer on the wet bolts. Those are the ones that are through drilled into the water passages. Clean off the threads then use a light coat of sealer. I use either Permatex (brown stuff in the tube) or pipe joint dope. Now is also a great time to flush the system, replace thermostat, and drive belt(s).

Q: my nissan 1993 maxima SEthe AC is not cold at all this year it ran perfect the year beforecan the water pump pressure really affect the AC?how much should a new water pump cost for my car?: You must know water pump is for cooling your motor ,by moving water around inside , AC has a pump or a compressor , Inside is a gas , under pressure the gas get cold when the cold lines are put in a space with a fan it makes cool air for you inside your car!!! All you may need is some more cooling gas for your AC pump

Q: What causes a water pump on a car to go bad????? and are they a pain to change by yourself?????: Bearing siezes/ Housing leaks/ Seals wear out. All do to use, expanding/contracting due to heat and cool down, and time also. Just a side note for Bryan K a car being FWD or RWD has no bearing on how much room you have for the waterpump or vice versa. This is a generalized statement that holds no truth. I'll give you one example that makes that statement false : when replacing a timing belt/water pump 96-01 Audi A4 1.8t 4cyl the entire front bumper and support must be removed in order to gain access to the timing belt and water pump. However this method is true for both FWD/AWD models. 99.5 to 2004 volkswagens have the same 1.8t engine but they are not longitudinally orientated the water pump and timing belt can be accessed fairly easy a lot less labor than the audi and the jetta is also available in FWD and AWD. Before someone contradicts the AWD jetta look up 4motion volkswagens. There are not alot in the states but they exist. Thanks for allowing me to throw inmy two cents in correcting generalized truths that are not true.

Q: i want to hook a pressure booster pump to a well pump so i can have some pressure out of the well, is this doable?thanks!: If you connect two pumps in series and not parallel the pressure will increase but you need to have them connected so if the well stops running the other does also.

Q: The water pump in my 2001 PT Cruiser needs to be replaced and I'm wondering how much I'm looking at. I know it would vary and I know it's supposed to be labor-intensive but I thought I'd ask on here before I call my mechanic. We are trying to figure out if we should just go ahead and look at getting a new car. Thanks for any help!: They vary in price but at the right auto parts counter you might find a brand new or rebuilt water pump for about 75 bucks or so but no more then about 160 bucks.The labour on those takes a few hrs anywhere from 4 to 6 hrs or less all depends on the tools and the mechanic. Check around for the part and the labour costs and sometimes it's better when it's a job like this that will cost at least a good 275-400 in labour costs plus taxes to have the shop supply or sell you the part bec then the shop truly should warranty the part via their part supplier and warranty their own labour work too.Also some shops here in Canada charge from 69 to 89 an hr or higher but there are also some shops that will offer a flat rate for work done by them too.So if you have a shop wanting 80 an hr and to charge for 6 hrs or more they could end up charging you well over 600 bucks just for the labour alone. Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way if you do end up deciding to fix that vehicle there could be some shops in the local smaller towns that might offer you the lower rates due to them being family operated or owned etc and I'd try to find a shop that has done lots of that same vehicle make work.
