- Q: No water will come out of any faucet in the whole house and I do not know what to do, if I need a whole new pump/tank or what could be causing this please help
- There are several possibilities as to why you have no water pressure. The pump could have lost it's prime, there could be a crack or loose connection between the well pipe and the pump, resulting in pumping air instead of water, the jet in the pump could have been plugged by a flake of rust broken off the inside of the pump housing, or, if you have a fairly old system, like mine, your air volume control, (a little round silver object screwed into the side of the resevoir tank), could be bad. Did this just happen all of a sudden, are you trying to open up a cottage for the summer that's been shut down all winter, was it pumping recently??? More info would be helpful.
- Q: I am putting in a new water pump this morning on my 2006 chevy trail blazer and i rented the clutch fan removal tools but im new at this and i cant afford anyone else to do it. any advice for a rookie it looks so simple am i wrong
- It is very easy and straightforward. The hardest part is the fan clutch unless you have the proper tools. You have that part covered. DO NOT USE ANY SILICONE SEALER!!!!! Be sure all traces of old gasket are removed and install the new gasket dry. Use an anaerobic sealer on the wet bolts. Those are the ones that are through drilled into the water passages. Clean off the threads then use a light coat of sealer. I use either Permatex (brown stuff in the tube) or pipe joint dope. Now is also a great time to flush the system, replace thermostat, and drive belt(s).
- Q: I had my timing belt replaced @ 80k (now have 138k) and was told by new mechanic that the water pump was not replaced then. Do I need to have pump replaced? What will happen if I don't? Thx
- well is it leaking now it does if its not leaking then its fine and dont need to replace it if its working right ... most people replace them since they need to come off while timing belt is replace less work to get it then but if its not leaking now no real reason to replace it unles you got money you dont need and just want to fix things thats not broken.. sorry don tneed one if its working but if its leaking sure replace it
- Q: I keep having to add water to. Doesn't do anything when it's sitting up. But after you drive it straight for about 25 minutes. Time to add some more water. I figure it's the water pump. It's not leaking anywhere so it has to be a failing water pump. Oil still looks good, no smoking. AC and heater blows fine. Just runs hot after a while. I need another opinion. Its the 4 cylinder also. And yes it does be steaming. Tired of having to add water everyday.
- Because it doesn't drip when it's just sitting shows you that it doesn't leak untill it's hot pressurized. So, drive it until the temp is 'normal', then stop but leave the engine running see if you can find the drip with the engine hot. Also, the water pump is not a 'normal' source for lost coolant - More likely a lose hose clamp....
- Q: Which is the better option for a home water pump? a submersible pump or floor based pump?
- In case of pump failure, it's much easier to repair/replace a floor based pump plumbed with isolation valves and unions. I've replaced a few due to motor failures and flood damage. Arguably, the submersible pump wouldn't have suffered damage due to flooding. Another consideration is vertical pump height. A floor based pump has to draw a vacuum to induce water to flow up to the impeller. This limits the practical draw to between 25 and 30 ft. Much more than that height and the vacuum will exceed the vapor pressure of the the water, boiling it rather than pumping it. A special device can be used to boost the lift: an ejector is placed down the well. Water is pumped down to the ejector, which pulls additional water back up using the venturi effect. This method suffers from additional friction losses but has clear advantages. If you need to pump water up a well more than 20 feet vertical, you should consider a submersible pump, particularly if you are concerned about the possibility of the water table lowering.

- If the sand is suspended in the water then yes there are pumps that will pump it. Other wise no.

- You really need to get an experienced Electricain there. Seems you have water that has worked its way into the electrical panel. And electricity and water does not mix. If you are comfortable working with this panel its really simple fix. First disconnect the wires on the breaker that is popping. As you look at the breaker the side opposite of the wires, you will need to pull up and then out to remove the breaker. Use a electrical cleaner, brake cleaner, starting fluid, anything that does not leave a residue and clean the breaker well. Also look for any water in the enclosure and spray it down until the water is gone. Depending on how much mositure you have, you may be able to use a towel to soak up some of the moisture in this panel. Be very careful because there is live voltage still in the enclosure.

- Your okorder /... Aside from the thermostat, it could be the coolant temperature sensor. I don't know how mechanically inclined you are, but a quick check to see if it is the thermostat... Let the car get to operating temperature, pop the hood and squeeze the upper and lower radiator hoses. if the top one is hot and the lower is not; its your thermostat. As far as your AC goes, did it suddenly start blowing hot air? Do you hear squealing when you turn it on?

- the water pump is external to the engine, no need to touch timing belt unless your changing it, tools needed- 13mm wrench-22mm wrench - 1/4 drive ratchet-10mm 1/4 drive socket- 3/8 drive ratchet- 12mm 3/8 drive Socket-13mm 3/8 drive socket-19mm 3/8 drive socket-16mm 3/8 drive socket 3/8 drive Extension-pliers- flat blade screw driver- 6mm 3/8 drive allen socket--- remove drive belt's- remove p/s pump, a/c compressor( do not disconnect either they will move out of the way)- remove alternator(disconnect battery first)- remove the bracket assembly( four 13mm nuts three hidden in the holes) there is the water pump(two 19mm tall bolts with studs hold it down, 10mm T bolt passes through the timing cover)
