- the pump designed for water will not work very well at all (any type of pump). its effieciecy will be very low. you will have low volume and low pressure. the pump will also be damaged, making it unsuitable to use as a water pump after its failed attempt at use as an air pump. Why dont you find an air blower? if your experimenting you can find one in every car heater system, so check out the car wreckers yard. Car heater air blowers are high volume low pressure. If you want a big unit get one out of a bus! If you want a high pressure low volume air pump you could use an old refrigerator compressor, or a standard air compressor. hope this helps..

- most water pumps have a small port hole in the pump housing. when your internal seal and/or bearing begins to wear out, you will get a small amount of fluid seeping from this hole. CAUTION, this leak will get much worse, not better. address this problem promptly. the price of repair might be in line depending on parts availability and your location.many mechanics in my area charge up to $40 an hour labor plus materials.

- You can start with the engine cold. Take off radiator cap and make sure coolant is full. Start engine and wait while it warms up, keeping your eye on the temperature gauge. When it gets to operating temperature, the thermostat should open and the coolant should start rushing past the opening. If it does, the thermostat and water pump is fine. I suggest you make sure your radiator fan(s) is/are turning on at the correct time. Lastly, if you can't figure it out, get a new radiator cap.

- Your new pump will be tighter then your old pump just makes sense and no you can not pack grease around the bearing, it's sealed you can't even see it. You have given me the best clue you could have and that was that you accelerated and the temp went down. What you did was force more water to circulate in the system. So that leads me to think you have air in the system or the fan is not doing it's job. I'm going with the air in the system but if your car has a viscus fan drive I'd give it a turn, it should not free wheel. Why dose the work head gasket ALWAYS have to come up when someone say overheat? Keep it simple and go back to the last thing done.

- Pump has to be off Open the reservoir on the pump You have to use water already in your setup, fill a cup with it Fill the pump reservoir until full, then refill the cup, you'll need plenty of water you might need help here from someone at home, you also might need to hold pump, or the water might drain out as you work below Turn on the pump, while the pump is running,..... pour more water in reservoir until pump is pumping water. - since the leak only occurred after thermostat change ? it is reasonable to assume it is leaking around the thermostat housing. check this area first . ( did we fit a new gasket ? etc) water pumps have a small hole on underside that will weep ( leak) when seals are worn and pump needs changing. we can check pump is working by observing coolant flow. with a cold engine remove coolant filler cap.start engine and rev a few times to around 3000-35000 rpm observing ( may need an assistant) coolant flow into expansion chamber ( where you removed filler cap from) you should note coolant flowing across or into the expansion tank. if our pump has failed we would over heat !! check engine cooling when driving.

- You should've noticed the worn out tires before u even stepped foot in the car. Go to any tire shop and get new tires, they will balance them when installing the new ones and that will take care of the vibrating. As for the water pump going out, I agree that that shouldn't have happened at 27k
