- Q: I have a 2005 Impala and it has been acting funny. Some morning the heat takes about 20 minutes to start working. The air conditoner has not came on once. The gage also takes awhile to start working and when it does it goes pass the halfway mark.I even notice when im sitting at a red light, i can feel the engine shaking a little. I have a appt to get it check and put on the machine tomorrow. I just want to go there with an idea of what the problem could be. Could this be a thermostat or water pump problem???? Help?
- Do you see any leaks the Front of the Engine or Radiator Area? is the Coolant Mixture Correct? Low Cost, Replace the Thermostat. From the Shaking you could also be in need of a Good Tune-Up? Also after all that shaking you might want to check the motor Mounts to make sure they haven't Cracked.
- Q: Alright,I happen to be the only man in the house and the plumbing is a bit faulty. You see,the machine has been filled with water as necessary and was ignited. It sounds perfectly fine and you can feel water run through the pipes connected to it, when touched. But it's been an hour now and the taps are not producing water. Please can anyone help? Under normal circumstances, there should be enough water now but the taps are all empty despite the water running through the pipes. What can I do? Please help. I filled it with even more water and there's no result. Help please. Thank you.
- not knowing the specific system, prolly correct. pipe frozen and what you feel is just bypass/recirc. as the water has no where to go. or there's an external leak somewhere under the house? keep doing that, depending on the system, and it's condition, might burn up a pump. many different kinds of systems. for a house or motor home, usually have one that's pressure activated. that is, pressure drops as a tap is opened, regualator sees that, starts the pump running. that would be a system that employs a reservoir. probably air charged. to sense pressure drops.a nd max pressures to shut the system off. but that may not be what you have. many different configs. USAF trained hyd/pneu tech. glorified plumber i guess.
- Q: n my water pump hoses feels like theres no pressure
- dude its yur thermostat u need to replace it or it can even be yur coolant cap it can be on crooked or not on all the way look into both but ive had cars overheat on me for both reasons and ive had caars blow up on me due to both reasons so look into both
- Q: i learned from wikipedia that the water pumps back to reactor where it is heated again and the cycle begins again. but then i saw this diagram
- Its clear enough. The water is heated and changed to steam in steam generators. Then the steam is used to turn the turbines to form energy. The steam is then condensed using cold water. The condensed steam or water is then 'pumped back to the steam generator' to create steam and the cycle continues. Need any more help ? feel free to mail me.
- Q: I just got a new boat with a diesel engine and I don't understand why there is a coolant tank as well as a water pump? I think the water pump goes to the heat exchanger but what actually cools the motor - how does this stuff work?
- this is refered to as a fresh water cooling system. the engine has a coolant tank and a recirc pump that pumps the coolant through a tube and shell heat exchanger, just as a car does through a radiator. instead of air around the radiator, the exchanger has sea(lake)water pumped through it by a engine mounted pump or a pump on a outdrive if so equiped. the engine heat is transmitted from the engine coolant to the exchanger, and out to the sea(lake). this system has many advantages. one of the most important is the fact that salt or brackish water never touches the engine block or components, preventing costly corrosion. secondly it keeps the engine running at a more even or constant temp. this is very important to a diesel as the engine puts out its hp and performance at a set temp. the heat exchanger can have an automatic drain system, draining water out of it and with coolant (antifreeze) in the engine, the boat can be operated in freezing weather without freezing, or draining the block every night. Heat exchangers can be backflushed easier than an engine, and allow the boat to be operated in muddy or contaminated water. (I have seen boats with tandem exchngers in case one plugs up or needs cleaning). gasoline and diesel engines can have exchanger systems, but since diesels inherantly are more expensive and live longer, a heat exhanger system is worth while.
- Q: Water dispenser in refrigerator has stopped working, how do I replace pump?
- There is no water pump to replace. The line is probably frozen and you needs to thaw out.
- Q: My 93 Ford t-bird over heats and i really don't know what could be the problem, the radiator is working fine, and also the fan and the thermostat, i don't think is a head gasket because the oil looks alright with no contamination and there is no steam coming from the exhaust im beginning to suspect the water pump but the weep hole is not leaking. So does a water pump MUST leak from the weep hole if it is bad, or it could be bad and not leak? thanks in advance...
- My husband says: If it has a clutch fan, the clutch could be bad; the impleller in the water pump could be bad or broke and to check and make sure your belt is not slipping. Hope this gives you some ideas!
- Q: Hi,My problem is of this automatic water pump ,it is disrupt always I don't no why..I also want to knew what is the function of the pressure air tank??? The picture is here:
- WHAT does it is disrupt always really MEAN?? OK, that said... pumps such as this work to maintain a pressure with two set points even though the regulator only has one indicated.. The lower set point which as pressure drops, the pump turns on, and the upper set point where when the pressure rises to that point, the pump shuts off. When the pressure drops to the lower set point, it triggers the pump to run. When the pressure rises to the upper set point, the pump turns off. If the set point is 50 pounds, it may turn on at 47 and off at 53, or the window could be smaller and on at 49 and off at 51. The air bladder works as a shock absorber, just as the shocks work in your car to smooth the ride. When the pump turns ON there is a pressure pulse that without the air space, would promptly turn the pump off again. This is called short cycling and will cause your pump to on-off-on-off-on-off rapidly. The solution is to refill the air bladder. People with well pumps instead of city water have this problem frequently as the air bladder loses the bubble and does not work as a spring or shock absorber. I have city water NOW, but I used to use a well (which is still operational if I choose to use it) and I experienced pump short cycling the very first year I bought the house. The thing IS, I was ignorant. I missed the thing about a well and a septic tank that also uses a pump to an above ground drain field. YES. I was STUPID because I had NOT paid attention. NOW, years later, I have learned, the HARD way mind you, how these sanitary systems WORK in real life in RURAL America....
- Q: I've never had overheating problems before, (although the heating itself never worked great) but today the gauge suddenly spiked while driving at about 50mph. I pulled over and steam was coming off the engine and the cooland tank was bubbling. The coolant was low, but not empty. I put some water in the coolant tank, let the engine cool and drove to a gas station where I got some coolant which I mixed with the water in the coolant tank. That didn't seem to help any. Even after letting the engine cool completely, it spikes after less than five minutes of driving. The radiator and both top and bottom hoses are equally hot. When I tried to start the engine with the radiator cap off, cooland shoots up out the top. The fans are working propely and there is no debris on the front of the radiator. So I'm sort of at a loss. Also, I've had some trouble starting since the problem.
- could be several things always check the simple things first thermostat and cap the water pump will not always leak if it is bad if you dont see it leaking grab the fan or the pulley on the pump and try to move it if you get any movement it is bad check the oil see if it is brown and milkey looking if it is then it is your head gasket this will also make it hard to start check the plugs to see if they are wet if so there is water in the cylinder which means head gasket and always have the head checked for cracks or being warped a machine shop can do that for you
- Q: I need a new timing belt and I'm getting that done soon, but my mechanic says that water pumps are usually replaced along with the timing belt at the same time. Does it really need replaced?
- no until it starts leaking.
