Q:I live on an island and we only have one power company they have taken our power away from us and because we were stealing power from them and would have to pay a hefty fee which we decided not to pay. we are running on a diesel generator right now but i was wondering if natural gas or propane generators are cheaper and or more efficient. ive checked the gas suppliers website for prices but it wasnt very helpfull.I would need a generator that is about 15 kW: If you have a natural gas pipeline then that's what I would use. Nat gas burns the cleanest, no soot, no mess, no fuel filters to clean, the motor oil lasts longer, no tanks to get water and gunk in. no fuel stabilizers needed, no fuel spills and no tank certifications, etc. With a pipeline you won't have to go shag and store fuel and you won't run out. Even in a wide spread power failure the nat gas is usually not affected. If you have to lease or rent a nat gas tank THEY have to certify it against leaks.

Q:how does a generator work powerlessly. i mean like if there is a black out people cna generate energy from like a generator. well then how come a generator work without the help of anything? In the case of a power blackout, backup generators use large diesel engines rated for hundreds of thousands of Horsepower, to run the electrical backup generators. Those diesel engines (obviously) run on diesel fuel so, there is your 'anything'. .

Q:i have a 2004 duramax 6.6 diesel truck.does anyone know if there is a converter kit to use the truck as a generator for my house?: It sound like you want to be able to drive the truck away also? So you need a power take off. You would bolt a large electrical generator (just the electrical par, no motor) and then have someone weld a connector to your driveshaft in such a way that you can switch it from rear-end to generator mode and in generator mode it would spin the rotor of the generator. With the HP output of that truck you could light up at least 3 houses. It would be cheaper, easier, and safer to just get a stationary generator from Lowe's and have them install it

The velocity of the exhaust gas is highly dependent on the size of the exhaust pipe. A smaller exhaust pipe, a much higher velocity --- a larger exhaust pipe, a much slower exhaust gas velocity. A 2 exhaust pipe would have about 2.25 times the velocity of a 3 pipe. The exhaust velocity is highly dependent as well on the RPM of the generator. Double the RPM, and there is much higher pressure, and much higher exhaust gas velocity. An attached article mentions that the exhaust velocity in some unspecified gasoline powered car --- and at some unspecified RPM --- is about 240 to 260 feet per second. autolounge /tech/exhaust.html

Q:I have two deisel engines and two tank feeds, how can I connect the genset (4KVA) . I am conerned when the engines are idling or even running they will start the genset. I do not want to put an extra tank.Thank you: If your tank has another port on it for a fuel line that is where you hook up. If not go to the supply line at the tank and put in a T fitting and then a shut off valve for each engine. Run the supply line to the generator from that T. You will also need a return line from the generator that you can T into at the return line from the engine at the tank. Many people that convert from gas to diesels run into these same problems. Often a fitting is made up that is put in the fuel fill line to allow for the return line. The generator supply and return lines will be smaller then the engine fuel lines. Running the engines will not cause the generator to start.

Not just noise-wise, but storing petrol or diesel in your apartment is a significant fire risk and possibly breach of your tenancy/lease agreement or giving an insurance company a let-out in the event of fire. Are you sure you don't mean 700va ? this is about the smallest, quietest generator.

Unless the features are enumerated, it isn't a particularly useful description. It may or may not include features in addition to the minimum required by government regulations.
