Q:I drive a TATA Indica DLS (not turbo), I understand that it has a base diesel engine which has 55 bhp. I have heard that CNG kits are available in the market and CNG is much economic and eco friendly. Please comment if you know about it. Is it possible ? and how much will be the cost for the conversion ? What are the steps involved ?
Not completely. A diesel engine is a compression engine hence it's the compression that ignites the fuel, natural gas doesn't ignite easily under compression and therefore requires a spark for ignition. However, it's possible to mix natural gas with the intake air but reduce the diesel fuel injectors so that a small amount of diesel fuel is injected, the diesel fuel ignites under pressure and this ignites the natural gas. Basically, it can mostly run on natural gas. Such a conversion requires some way of reducing but not eliminating the diesel injected as well as mixing in the natural gas preferably in proportion to the amount of air or according to the needs of the engine somehow. As it requires changing the fuel injector programming, this is not a conversion that is easily available but kits are available. A more practical conversion for a diesel car would be a waste vegetable oil conversion though I would consider a natural gas conversion suitable for a backup power generator especially if the conversion still allows for full diesel operation when needed. Diesel keeps much longer than gasoline when stored.
Q:I understand it as far as the diesel engine driving the generator- or is it an alternator?- to power the motors which turn the wheels. But does each wheel have its own motor, or is it one motor per axle?
Earlier diesel-electric locomotives used a d.c. generator and d.c. traction motors. In more recent years - since around the 1990s - a.c. alternators have been used, as suitable a.c. traction motors have been developed. Generally, modern diesel-electrics (and electric locomotives) have one traction motor per axle. I am not completely 'au fait' with US practice, but in Europe and many other countries diesel and electric locomotives are classified by wheel arrangement. Thus, a locomotive with two four-wheeled bogies (or trucks), with motors on each axle is classified as a 'Bo-Bo': i.e., 'B' signifying two axles, with the 'o' signifying that each is motored. A typical US twelve-wheeler is a 'Co-Co', and so on. Earlier locomotives - in the UK, for example - were heavier than those produced today for the same power output. They therefore had additional unpowered carrying axles, denoted by figures. For example, the early main line locomotives had a 1Co-Co1 wheel arrangement: two eight wheel trucks, the leading axle of each being unpowered, with motors on the other three. The mid range locomotives produced by Brush Traction were of the A1A-A1A arrangement, consisting of two six wheel/three axle trucks, each with motors on the end axles, and the centre axle un-powered. We even had some odd-ball five axle locomotives with a 'Co-Bo' wheel arrangement. Mechanical transmission is also used on light shunting locomotives and railcars, whilst hydraulic transmission was popular for a while in Germany and the Western Region of British Railways, but is now used for most diesel multiple-unit trains.
Q:How are the mobile trucks like those used to broadcast sports events built? Where are the cameras, microphones, and wires stowed when the truck is not in use? How long does it take the crews to set up a sports venue for broadcast? What are the crew's jobs during the game? How many different rooms/areas do the trucks have?
i recently offered an HDTV and am very happy with it. the image and sound are astounding, offering you're fairly watching something broadcast in HDTV format. I put in a Band Of Brothers DVD and the infants concept a conflict replaced into fairly happening in the front room. while you're finding at a usually happening channel, the intense definition brings out greater of the grainy high quality of the sign. that's the only disadvantage I fairly have got here across so far. What i found as the thank you to shrink that's working greater advantageous than one cable to the inputs on the television. on the returned of your HDTV there will be an enter jack categorized HDMI. This stands for top Definition Multimedia Interface. this type of cable and enter is very deigned for the HD format. in simple terms below this on a scale of high quality could be S-Video, and then RCA (the pink, white and yellow cables we are all used to). i opt to propose using RCA cables to the television besides for the channels that are no longer broadcast in HDTV. So once you're watching and the channel you choose isn't what you chosen enter is, in simple terms hit the source or enter button to choose the enter that fits your desires on the time.
Q:i got 390 TONS OF REFRIGERATION OF PU,TOTAL 16 NO,HOW MUCH KW OR KVA REQUIRED DISEL GENERATOR TO RUN THIS ,PACKAGED UNIT, TOTAL LOAD IS 390 TR, PLS CONVERT N TELL ME,N TAKING FACTOR OF SAFETY ALSO TELL ME THE KVA OF GENERATOR

Q:I have a Diesel generator using leroy sommers alternator and which uses intelilite MRS 11 controller , it is 380 V , 50 Hz , yesterday i started having problems , after running the genset for like 12 seconds it shuts down and i get two error msgs the first one is : Shutdown Level for Phase 1 under volts the second error msg is : Shutdown Level for Gen voltage Unbalance .in the first 12 seconds the voltage on 3 phases got no problem and after 12 seconds the generator auto shuts down and i cannot seem the find the problem , any help will be appreciated
Its seems ur AVR circuit circuits not functioning or mal functioning check all glass fuses relays ( coil contacts of pcb mounted miniature relays ) healthines in AVR PCB isn't open type or sealed type ?,. Check all input plugs connection to speed sensor too.voltage monitoring relay should pick up (AVR pcb). go thro the manual if there any , what is the climate is ti too Humid chill windy , Is ur Generator is fitted out side or inside building ? some time certain environment AVR circuit may mal function , some time there won't be a fault at all .once after checking all those points -try again best of Luck - or pm me
Q:I know that various types of locomotive's produce different amount of horse power. Here's the question: A single locomotive (any type) about what would be the average speed it could gain in 0 to 4 seconds on take off. Any smart A** answer will be reported for abuse, Thank you.
Hello Brian; From my experience I would say anywhere from 15-20mph. 28 years of railroading. Switch engines don't have to spool up to start, whereas road engines rev up a lot before moving. junkman
Q:How many gallons of diesel would br required to run this generator for 24 hours??
Consumption of fuel is actually dependent on the model used so it can vary, your best resource is to get the figures from a manufacturer, take for example the Generac II Emergency Power Systems provide a Diesel Model EPS-8D see link below for full specs: So if we based on this model which consumes 0.88 gallons per hour, running for 24 hours would eat up 21.12 gallons of diesel per generator. As to the amount of current you wish to get that would depend on other set up and implements that you hook to the generator. You may need more than 1 generator to get the total amperage that you are looking for. See the equipment specs.
Q:I want to build a diesel engine driven generator. The type of gen I have is asynchron, 400/690 V, 7,5 kW, 9,4 kVA and I was told that I need to stimulate it with capacitors (the unit is supposed to work without connection to a public netstand-aloneisland-service). Who can give me instructions how to do the el. part, size/type of capacitors etc?
Because it lacks a separate field circuit, an induction generator cannot produce reactive power. In fact, it consumes reactive power, and an external source of reactive power must be connected to it at all times [1]. So you are right that you will need a three-phase capacitor bank at the output terminals (delta-connected). How to size the capacitors? That depends on a few things. Namely what kind of loads are going to be attached to it. I presume this is going to be an emergency generator operating alone (most induction generators are used this way nowadays). In that case, your capacitor bank will need to account for the generator consuming reactive power and the loads consuming reactive power. So, if you know what you are going to connect to the generator, figure up an estimate of the total reactive power of your loads. Then estimate how much reactive power your generator consumes (not sure how to do this; maybe estimate from your 7.5kW and 9.4kVA ratings?). Finally, to size your capacitors equate the total power consumed by gen and loads to this formula: estimated_3phase_power_consumed 3*(line-to-line_volt)^2/X where X 1/(2*pi*freq*C) Solve for C and there you go. My source indicates that the output voltage for an induction generator can vary quite a bit with varying inductive load, so bear that in mind and maybe oversize the caps a bit. Also, the types of capacitors should be able to withstand AC obviously and be rated within your expected operating temp, etc, etc. Good luck.
Q:3 mi Island and Chernobyl catastrophies were also results of buffoons operating the plant. Is nuclear energy going to die because humans are too greedy, lazy, and stupid?
Trust physicists!!! Nuclear Plants will go on. I am determined about it.
