- not less than 50dbrunning up to 80db.very rough figures. If you have the money to spend they can be pretty quiet these days. And you can silence them more, even bury them if you do it right.
- Q: HelloI am doing a question on my homework and im being asked to determine how long a tank of gas on a diesel generator would last a family if one tank produced 20kW of electricity. This family uses 2.052kWh of electricity every day. The problem i have run into is that i don't know how to determine how long tha tank can last with only those values, i have a feeling im missing something very obvious here. - Yup, you missed the obvious. It is not important how big the tank is, simply that when you have used the whole tank you have produced a total of 20kW/hours of electricity for consumption. So as shown by the first person to answer, the tank will last for around 9.5 days. (Assuming the family's consumption is consistent throughout the day.)
- Q: I really need to know to know this.@ two days old. my baby was subjected to a high level of diesel fumes coming in from the hospital vents. Due to testing of generators and backed up through vent. she was in the room roughly 30 minutes what kinda damage should I be concerned about. should I be concerned? how long would it stay in lungs and the blood? please if you know.thanks

- Q: For 100Kw generator, what will be minimum/ maximum loadfor its safe operation.
- The maximum load will be given by the exhaust temperature, regardless of the nameplate rating. There is a maximum steady state temperature, which can be exceeded for short periods, say, 10 to 20 %, given by the engine mfr. The minimum load for an engine which runs at constant speed, i.e., a power generator, is about 50%. Below that it starts to shake dangerously. . .

- Just about all the rings you purchase new today come pre-gapped to the correct tolerance, just like spark plugs. Way in the past, of course back then it was necessary to check the gap. With such a small engine 1/16 is plenty.
- Q: I live what i consider near a nuclear generating station in NJ.The site is Toms River Nuclear Generating Station, how would a melt down effect Rahway,NJ or the surrounding areas in general? - The answer depends entirely on the kind of accident or incident. It is not possible to predict without the hypothetical accident type, since not all accidents result in a core meltdown, and there are different ways for the core to end up in melt down situation. The danger zone also depends a great deal on the wind and weather conditions at the time and immediately afterwards. Obviously, if the wind is blowing from your location toward the plant, then there is less likelihood that you will be contaminated.
- Q: If global warming is as bad as Scientists say, two hours a month without power seems like a small price to pay in the grand scheme of things. I'm sure theres a way to keep hospitals running and emergency services running. All shops would have to lock down I guess people would start rioting or something, but I would think there would have to be some sort of way to covertly have different towns and counties shut down for a couple hours discretely each monthmaybe at night when people are sleeping? Just a thought.

- Q: here's the thing.Imagine that I have a generator that uses diesel as the fuel. then consider following two cases.Case 1 - using one 1kW bulb for one hourCase 2 - using ten 100W bulbs for one hourI know both cases consume a same amount of power that is 1kWH.but I THINK the demand (which is measured in kVA or just kW) is higher in the second case. (is it??)so my question is that, does the generator burn a same amount of fuel at both the cases regardless of higher demand in second case?? and I'd much obliged if you can say how??

- No damage. truckers do it every night to run the A/C or the heater. There is a cheaper way; generator or wind charger or hydroelectric. My honda generator can do 4 hrs on about 1/2 gal. If you need DC only you could build a gen using a car alternator (internally regulated, one wire) and a lawnmower engine.
