Q: I Have an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard with the chipset fan going at over 6000 RPM, an AMD Athlon 64 4000+ with the CPU fan at about 3000 RPM, and a GeForce 6200LE with a very high pitched fan that's dead annoying. To cut a long story short, my PC makes way more noise than it should be, now I don't have any case fans installed but that shouldn't mean that it has to make this sort of howling, believe me, if you were sitting next to it, you'd understand where I'm comin from, it's like tryin to sleep at night with a diesel generator in your room while it's downloading stuff. Q: I own a Chinese made diesel generator. 10HP, 5kW, which recently stopped putting out power. The generator head has three separate power outputs; 120VAC (#1) 120VAC (#2) and 12VDC for battery charging. All three ceased output simultaneously. I've tried re-exciting or flashing the alternator, which didn't do anything other than make it knock when it generated a magnetic field.I've been told my voltage regulator may have failed, but I have no knowledge of how the AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator) on the high-voltage side may work to verify.Ideas? Thanks!: Some have safety fuses or circuit breakers to safeguard Voltage spikes. Check also for a switch which enables the generator once the deisel moter has been started. Q: i mean from off state to ON State,the amount of diesel it reqiures to burn out.: I have never heard. But it can't be very much. There's a primer button back in the long hood area. Priming is necessary because the fuel runs back down into the fuel tank when not running. After priming for about 6 to 10 seconds, a start switch is flipped that turns the generator into a magnetic starter motor. The engine only turns over just a couple times (usually) before it fires and is pleasantly idling on its own. Starting can't require very much fuel. On the newer GEs and EMDs with auto shut down, these starting functions are all automatic electronically of course.

Q: I have a van and wish to kit it out with generator, welder and power tools. The genrator needs to cope with a 180amp rated welder plus 110v power tools (grinder, drill etc) being used at the same time. The generator needs to be diesel powered not petrol. The ones i've looked at are rated in Kva's. Not too sure how to work out how many Kva's i will require. Help please.: It will probably take something like 6.6 KVA's to run it. Similar one's take a 220 VAC, 30 amp circuit. The Model 180 MIG welds up to 1/4 steel. 6 heat settings and infinitely adjustable wire speed control welds a wider range. Max. output 160 amps with 30% duty cycle. Requires 220 Volts 60 cycle 30-amp circuit.

Q: Effects on health, economy, business, the environment, etc.: You know, the effects of diesel emissions is about the same as gasoline emissions. When ethanol burns, it does about the same amount of pollution as diesel fumes do. Healthdon't know Economyif you remove diesel out of the equation, you lose the economy. You cannot haul freight efficiently without diesel power, you cannot operate most generators efficiently without diesel power, etc. The reason why they make such a big deal about diesel emissions is because of the black smoke it produces. It does no greater damage than gasoline emissions do. Plus, if every car ran off of diesel fuel instead of gasoline, prices would be much much cheaper, crude oil would be used more efficiently and there wouldn't be a shortage like there is. PLUSyou would be able to turn that 30-35 mpg car into a 55-60 mpg car if you ran it off of diesel. And I also like to blow black smoke out of my Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins Turbo Diesel tooits fun, plus a lot of power.

Q: I have a bunch of old diesel left over from y2k, a family friend stored 10k gallons and its turned a brown color, it dosent small funny at least to me, still looks red if you put it up to the light but it is not vivid red like it used to be it has a dingy brown color. Q: I want to shut it inside a small room, but will it not suffocate ? Which part of the gen set should be moved out of the room ?: This is not a good idea. This generator is more than just loud, it poses a serious health and safety threat. The exhaust gasses from the generator have to be vented to the outside or the carbon monoxide they contain will kill you. Diesel fuel is a fire hazard and without proper fireproofing you will end up with a serious fire. Finally, the generator has to be provided with a separate supply of outside air both to ventilate the space to prevent overheating and to supply air for the engine.
