Q: i bought a aftermarket wiring harness for my 2003 nissan xterra and a boss stereo and i know your suppose to connect all the wires with there matching wires on the harness and stereo, but i am confused on what to do with the ground wire, because both my wiring harness and the stereo have a solid black wire and both say ground (the wiring harness says chassis ground). do i connect those two wire, or do i ground them both separately to bare metal? i am confused and any help would be great
There's no standard method to ground a radio that I know of. Some radios are just grounded from the radio case to the metal in the dashboard (no actual ground wire). In my experience, using the factory ground location (through the stock harness) often leads to electrical noise in the audio system. What I try to do is get everything connected to a point that the radio will power up, but don't mount the radio. It's also helpful to leave the ground wire accessible so it can be moved to various ground locations to check for the one that eliminates noise the best. Start the engine and turn on the radio and check for noise. Then make a permanent ground connection and mount the radio. I've found that moving the Hu ground location from one bolt to another can have a drastic effect on noise. EDIT: The ground wire on the aftermarket harness is to receive the HU's ground lead. It probably goes off several feet to be grounded among a number of other (noisy) accessories. Personally, I probably wouldn't use that wire. Just cut off any bare wire and cap it. I'd use the wire directly from the HU, extend it enough to reach the firewall and do the trial and error to see what works best.
Q: I need to buy a new wiring harness for a Sendai car stereo (CD889)i cant find one ANYWHERE!!however, looking through OKorder, i noticed someone selling a wiring harness for a Sendai/Ripspeed/Sonichi or somethingjust wondering if anyone knows whether the Ripspeed wiring harness will fit into the car stereo?Any online shops anyone knows of, or anything would help. Even Halfords don't have one :(
Check this site then
Q: I have a Chineese Dirt bike that has been run for only 2 hours and the wiring harness is burned up. Is it possible to take a wiring harness off an atv and put it on the dirt bike?
no you can not do that. this is the reason i tell people out here to not buy motorcycles or scooters that are made in china. the only thing you can do is go back to where you bought the bike and see if you can buy a new wiring harness. that's the only way you are going to fix it.
Q: Can wiring harnesses for car stereos be re-used? If so, are they specific to the car, the stereo, or both? Right now I've got an older JVC stereo in my '01 Chevy Prizm (same as Toyota Corolla). I'd like to avoid having to buy a new harness, and one of the stereos I'm looking at is JVC. Thanks.
The place you are having it installed might insist on a new harness because the new stereo has more inputs and outputs than the old one, plus the plugs are probably going to be different. Especially if the new stereo has things the old one didn't like satellite radio or ipod input. Sure wish my stereo had an ipod input. And the speakers didn't sound like @%!
Q: I just bought a pioneer wiring harness and there is a blue cable and a blue cable with a white stripe. the color code says that the blue wire goes to the power antenna and that the blue/white wire goes to the amp turn on. the thing is that the blue wire hooks in at the same side twice and the blue/white goes from the one plug to the other plug. If I could email you for more questions that would be nice thanks
Is this a harness that has a plug at each end, one to the radio and one to your car? If so it may be that your car does not have an option for a power antenna and therefore the blue wire is not needed or may be looped back to the blue/white wire at the plug. Your car may also be one that has a factory amplifier and therefore the blue/white wire is going to the car side of the plug to turn on the factory amp. If you need to power an aftermarket amp as well you can simply tap into the blu/white wire with the aftermarket amps remote turn on wire. The way they work is thisThe blue wire sends out 12 volts only when the tuner is selected on the radio and does not send out 12 volts while listening to CD. This is to raise a power antenna for the tuner.(since this wire is looped back to itself it may because your model of car didnt have an option to come with a power antenna from the factory and is not needed) The blue/white wire sends out 12 volts during both tuner and CD listening modes. This is to turn on any amplifiers being used on the system.
Q: i have a mercury mystique gs wiring harness and i need to replace it so i was thinking why not copy the same layout as the old one i found one at junk yard thats fairly good shape i mean it doesnt work but i can copy it to make a new one so im wondering if anybody can direct me to how i can make one that looks and works exactly the same as a brand new wiring harness see if i had the option to buy a new one i would but they dont sell them anymore so im kinda stuck at this difficult decision
be metculous unplugging every thing marking what goes where , write it down as well as the colours , when you have it all out , lay it on a big sheet of butchers paper or similar grab some colour texta's , trace it all out , then lay your new stuff out on your pattern tape it up , plugs could be a problem , i'm not sure where you are , so i can't recommend a supplier . take notes of what terminals went where take pix where possible
Q: I have an electrical problem on my 1996 Dodge Dakota which is soon to be solved, and i already peeled tape off the wiring harness to find shorted wires. Can i use old bicycle inner tubes with zip ties instead of retaping the wiring harness?
Would not recommend this. The rubber in tubes is not oil, gas, or heat resistant. Wire loom is cheap and available at most auto stores.
Q: i recently totaled my last car, a 1999 ford escort se sport. i had a nice custom sound system in my escort, which i pulled out after the wreck i'm buying a 1996 ford probe gt. its a sweet ride 24v 2.5 litre v6. custom six speed racing transmission but anyways. i want to put my system in. i have a kenwood head unit and i was ust wondering if anyone knows whether the stereo wiring harness is the same in an escort as it is in a probe. i know that the probe was actually designed and built by mazda, so idk if the electrical is american or japanese
once you're in contact go have the battery examined alongside with the alternator. regularly there is a few style of tag on the battery that could be useful be attentive to whilst it grow to be synthetic or a minimum of put in interior the vehicle. If it is sparkling and the connectors are sparkling it is in all probability fairly new. ninety six has in all probability had a minimum of three batteries. Battery won't recharge in one day except you hook up a battery charger. Batteries recharge for the time of utilising, that's what the alternator does and it takes approximately 15 minutes to recharge the quantity you used to start up the vehicle. Batteries regularly final 3-4 years and could regularly artwork advantageous up until the time they fail. they regularly do no longer furnish you with any indication they are going to fail.
Q: i have the complete wiring harness for my craftsman lawn mower. i have the ignition switch and all kids of wires that im pretty sure i dont need i just need/want it to start it and kill it.i need to know what wiring i need to use just for the ignition switch and if i am going to have to bypass other wiresit is an upright motor the flywheel is already on it i just need to know how to get power to the starter and to be able to use my key switch i plan on putting it on my go cart so i dont need half the wires on the wire harness.
You're probably better off just running your own wires, if you want to use the existing wires then usually the keyswitch has one or two 'accessories' lines for lights, etcjust leave them unhooked. I can't help with the actual diagram, if you know the wire colors for the wires going to the starter that will help. Do you also have a starter relay? If it existed then it should be still wiredit may have a terminal that needs to be touching ground to work. Other than thatit's up to what you have documented (notes?) as to where everything was originally wired. Good Luck.
Q: I am trying to put a aftermarket starieo in my thunderbird. but I can not seem to find the speaker wire harness. I have one harness that the power goes to and i have that plagued in and working. But, I can seem to find the speaker set. The only thing I have is a square looking plug, the plug has 8 wires going to it, but i don't know if this is my speaker set or not. I don't want to start chopping that up till I know its the right one. SOME ONE HELP!
The square one is the speaker harness. My probe has the same setup. The best thing you can do is to buy a harness kit so you don't have to cut your original wires. Also, I'm sure your car has a factory amp, so you will need to buy an amp integration harness to use your factory amp. If you don't use your factory amp, then you'll have to run your own speaker wires because you'll get no sound if your amp doesn't turn on OR they most likely make an amp bypass harness that you will need to buy. If you have a power antenna, the harness kit will make it easy for that to work again too.
