Q: I own a 2000 Chevy Silverado 1500. The trailer harness is rusted and I was wondering if I could replace that with a new one from autozone? Any suggestions?
have fun it going to be a pain in the but
Q: I have a 2005 mercury montego premiere and just installed a new head unit. Everything worked fine. I have a pioneer head unit that plays DVDs but I didn't wire it to my parking brake when I first put it in. Today I decided to do so got it all out, then had an urgent call and couldn't connect it. As I was putting the radio back in, something sparked and started to smoke, (yellow cords where showing a little bit, might have touched metal) I took it to a car audio shop and tested the head unit, and it worked just fine. Could I have broke(shoted) the harness that connects the colored wires together and the other side connects to my car wiring(they plug in) OR could I have broke something with my car wiring. I checked audio fuses, they are fine. PLEASE HELP I BEG
Its very simple, just check the wiring harness to the radio one wire at a time and if all are okay then you have either a bad PCM or BCM. You'll need a scanner to check these.
Q: I have access to an engine from a burned out RV, I know I'll need the computer like from a 2500 or 3500 with a 454 most likely the same year as my Blazer but what else would probably be necessary to complete this swap?
don't think the big block will colt to ur trans. u will need to modify exhaust to fit.if u wanted u could get an older intake and put a carb on the 454 which would make the wiring and computer setup a lot easier btw RV 454 is not the same as truck version and is tuned different and may or may not work with computer from a truck.not to mention that the power is set up differently so u may b doing a lot of work for nothing.
Q: i need to know what other stock radios will fit in my car so i can get 1 from a junk yard so i need another stock deck that has the same wires
Here's the best I can do; Go to AutoZone, or someplace like that, and look at harnesses for installation . Note if any of them show the same cars in their application list. I'm thinking some small Fords- they're related.
Q: Hi, I am planning to install a newer car deck/head unit for my 1990 nissan 240sx, it already has a older panasonic deck. So when I took a look at the wiring harness I realized that from the deck to the after market harness there exists a black ground wire, and from the after market harness to the factory harness there does not exist a black ground wire, this means that the after market black ground wire is not really connected to anything through the factory harness, the older deck works fine. I was wondering when I install my newer deck, do I need that black ground wire, will it cause any problems if i keep it like that?Thank you.
it is likely the old units chassis slides into a metal frame, that is a chassis ground, that or like gordy sayz thru the antenna, he all so went on to say you need to find anything metal to ground, look for a screw or drill a hole, make sure the paint is scraped off, the new unit may have a connection to put a screw thru if not u have to attach one, make sure the screw is turned down tight to have as much contact to the cars metal as possible. avoid extending the ground wire, buy a multimeter for less then 20.oo to test wires it is a good investment for a diyer.
Q: i have a 88 mustang that i am rebuilding and i have a 91 engine in it with mass air where can i get the wiring diagram for the computer harness
the difficulty is you're proscribing your self to the internet in this seek. My adventure has been that there are circumstances once you ought to close the laptop off and make a journey on your close by library. flow to the vehicle section and verify out between the Chilton's manuals or Hayes Manuals for that year you're looking. you will get severe high quality wiring diagrams.
Q: I installed the HID kit without the harness for a couple of months and my friend said that it'll be better if I put the harness in since it draws electricity directly from the battery. Before I put the harness on, the lights were fine and when I installed the harness, it got brighter. Is this due to the wiring harness or something else?
after a few minutes of using hid without the relay the cables will get hot and create ohms so the energy will pass slow and less causing your headlights brite low when you use the relay the cable who feed the hid will automatically change from one cable to another keeping the cables fresh and cool so more energy will pass by making your lights brite a lot more you can connect the hid directly from the battery but you have to use a heavy wire so wont heat so easy and you don't need the relay, but relay is usefully because if something goes wrong relay will goes off and nothing happen is like a fuse another thing is the battery only start the engine, when engines start the alternator do the job so replacing a battery with another one more heavy dont do a thing replace your alternator with a heavy one and you are done
Q: i have a mercury mystique gs wiring harness and i need to replace it so i was thinking why not copy the same layout as the old one i found one at junk yard thats fairly good shape i mean it doesnt work but i can copy it to make a new one so im wondering if anybody can direct me to how i can make one that looks and works exactly the same as a brand new wiring harness see if i had the option to buy a new one i would but they dont sell them anymore so im kinda stuck at this difficult decision
be metculous unplugging every thing marking what goes where , write it down as well as the colours , when you have it all out , lay it on a big sheet of butchers paper or similar grab some colour texta's , trace it all out , then lay your new stuff out on your pattern tape it up , plugs could be a problem , i'm not sure where you are , so i can't recommend a supplier . take notes of what terminals went where take pix where possible
Q: I AM WORKING ON A 93 CAPRICE WITH THE 9004 HEADLIGHT BULB,I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE IT SO I CAN USE EITHER BULB,CAN I SPLICE INTO THE CAPRICE HARNESS OR WHAT CAN I WIRE UP A SEPARATE HARNESS PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS
If you want to use both at the same time I would just splice it into the existing wire. If you are trying to make them interchangeable put in some wire connectors on either bulb.
Q: I want to know if thr wiring harness is messed up can i just buy a new wiring harness for the alternator? I don't kno what to do cause it won't pass smog. I need an honest answer from an electrical specialist. The mecanic the wires were cut off and modified. Can somebody please help me.
Yes it is possible to get the wiring harness back to original. Call up junk yard and they can clip the wires. You'd have to cut your modified harness. Try to cut it where you can hide the electrical tape so the inspectors can't see the mickey mouse job you did. If you want it done correctly look into getting a very expensive harness because that harness runs with the engine harness. Although some vehicles don't but I couldn't tell you that unless I see the car. Hope this helps.
