Q: i have a 1992 honda prelude with a swapped engine and i need to redo the wiring harnes is it easy to put one in by myself or how should i go about doing this please help.
Each car has its own wire harness created for it on a custom-made basis. The harness essentially connects two types of essential things between electronics and the car itself. If you can not find the correct replacement part and you are technically knowledgeable, you may be able to recreate one yourself or purchase one that can me made to fit your specific year and model of car. If not, a trusted mechanic can handle it plus you will be confident that the wiring portion of your vehicle is correct. If your engine is not wired correctly you may have continual problems that will drive up the costs of car ownership quickly.
Q: I have a Dual XDM260 radio, and for some reason the power antenna wire (blue) came with a shrink tube pre-shrunk onto the end of it. While the rest of the wires are normal and are pre-stripped. My question is, the wiring harness that I got for my vehicle 1995 Toyota Camry, (Metro wiring harness) has the blue wire available to connect to the wiring harness that came with the radio. Do I still connect both cables? Or leave the one that's covered alone? My car does have a power antenna.
The cover is just there because many, if not most, installations don't use the blue wire. The wire is there because some installations do. Strip off the cover and connect the Dual's blue wire to the blue wire in the adapter harness to make your power antenna work properly.
Q: I need a new wiring harness for a 2002 daewoo lanos. How much is that going to cost? And what does that thing even do, anyways?
There are typically about half a dozen wiring harnesses in any car, each constituting all the wiring for a particular section of the car engine compartment, under-dash, front lighting, etc. Prices vary widely. The only one I ever replaced was an engine harness in an older Volvo and I found one aftermarket for $300. I also priced an engine harness for a 1984 Nissan 300ZX (after an engine fire) and Nissan wanted $2000 for the harness. Replacing it would have been a lot of labor, too. Be sure to get a second opinion in any case. It will be a very expensive job and not only is it something you don't want to do because of a bad diagnosis, but if the harness has an identifiable fault it may be repaired. The dealer won't do repairs but other shops often will.
Q: I have a U.S.-based company and we are putting together a new electronics assembly which requires a wire harness. What are the advantages of approaching sub-contractor for the development of a wire harness assembly in the U.S. versus in China or Mexico?
Where you have them built is less important than the quality of the harness and whether they build it to spec. You will likely save money if you have it built outside the U.S. but, you also may face communication/cultural issues. One idea is to contract with a firm that has U.S. offices where the design and contracts are handled, but that also oversees manufacturing capability to keep costs down.
Q: i recently purchased an aftermarket cd player for my 2004 chevy silverado 1500. when i tried to have it installed, best buy said i need some kind of wiring that was an extra $120. circuit city said the same thing. i was just wondering if that is really neccesarry?i heard that not installing the wiring harness would only affect the door chimes. is this true?
Yes you will lose your door chime, no your check engine light won't come on. Do you have onstar? That would be my biggest concern. I Have installed many stereos in Gm cars and eliminated the dooor chime. its up to you, stay away from circuit city and best buy they just want to sell you accessories with a high profit margin. Go to a smaller shop with experienced installers and ask them about it. I would only buy a harness like that to keep onstar.
Q: i have an 89 s10 blazer and i am planning to drop in a 305 from a camaro and i am wondering where to get a wiring harness??? please help me out i need to find out
Thats a hard project, but you can use the factory harness from the camaro for engine management or use an aftermarket ecu ontroller for the engine, which will be harder to find and very pricy.
Q: I recently purchased a new head unit for my car. The after market stereo that came with it was installed using a wire harness and everything. I was wondering what the odds are of me just replacing the old head unit and plugging in the already installed wiring harness into the new unit. Both are pioneers. I don't know if that will make a difference.
It does not hurt to try. The odds are pretty good considering the fact that both are pioneer. I would try it and if it does not work then just buy a new wiring harness. This will save u the time and headache of installing ur new head unit.
Q: I have a 2004 vortec motor, transmission, and transfer case. I want to install them the easiest way possiable into a 1994 extended cab 4x4. Is painless The way to go. Thanks fellow viewers!
no,,do not fool with painless wiring at all, i have had some dealings with them, and is not as painless as they want you to think it is,you,ll be better off getting a harness from the vehicle your getting the engine from, its much easier to work with believe me i have been there and done it both ways, either way there's a lot of work involved in doing it ,but one way is easier to do,but you,ll need the diagram of the newer truck *** well as the older one,and you can do it ,but your going to have to be really patient,i wish you luck,And i hope this help,s.
Q: I need to get a new wiring harness for my 74 260z. I was also wondering if any of the wiring harness from the other z models would fit a 260z? If so what year?
I'd say you're most likely going to have to rewire that one yourself unless you can find one on the WEB somewhere from a salvage yard or something.
Q: I have a Mk3 gti golf and am about to put a aftermarket pioneer HU in and am trying to figure out what wiring harness to use and the wiring diagram to follow? the current head unit is a single din unit?any help would be amazing
German vehicles are excess of rated, even those that are unquestionably made in Germany. anticipate to be fixing that stuff and waiting for areas as much as you're employing it. i locate it hilarious which you does not own a GM with the aid of fact the government held a number of their inventory, whilst a extensive part of Volkswagen group and it fairly is confirm retaining employer are owned via the German government of Saxony and the Emirate of Qatar. consistent with threat you're able to do a splash extra learn. Ridiculous.
