Q: I recently purchased a stereo system for my truck that a friend has been installing. I bought a harness for my 88 Dodge Ram Charger, but once he took out the old stereo system, the harness did not match up to the wires there. It looks like my truck was manufactured in Japan by Mitsubishi, so i'm just wondering what harness I actually need. Should I be looking for one meant for 88 Mitsubishi? Q: 2000 Bravada no or very little power to anything electrical. cant find anything loose or unplugged . i was told it could be a ground issue but i can not find a ground for the wiring harness in the vehicle. ive checked the ground wires under the hood they seem to be fine.i just replaced the heater core so it must be something in the dash.: A ground that is bad will show little power, but so will a bad live connection. Check the starter connection from the positive battery post down to the starter, and look at the connection, both going to and from the terminal. If all is ok, there should be a ground wire from the engine block to the car body also. If not make one and install it. good luck

Q: I bought a wiring harness and im trying to connect it too my aftermarket stereo wire and my aftermarket stereo wire does not have an orange/white one like the other harness does. I looked and this orange/white wire is the dimmer wire. I was just wondering what that wire did and do i need it hooked up?: if your new stereo does not have a dimmer wire you do not hook that wire to anything.

Q: I have a 2003 Harley Davidson soft tail (with a carburetor) that needs a new main wire harness. I recently purchased a harness for a 2000 model 'Deuce', and everything plugs in just like the old one except it (the Deuce) has a 8-pin connector going to the turn signal module instead of 12-pins (like the original). Any info anyone can give me regarding the differences in these harnesses would be helpful and greatly appreciated, however right now my biggest objective is to just get a spark to the spark plug so I can start the bike. Thanks in advance for any advice.: You have the wrong harness. The 2000's use a straight turn signal module. In 2001, HD integrated a factory security system into the bkes. When they did this, they integrated the security system into the turn signal module which is called a turn signal/security module (TSSM). You would see this in the wiring diagram if you had a FACTORY service manual.this is why you NEVER attempt any work on your own without a manual!!! A manual will pay for itself the first time it saves you from an experience like this. What was wrong with your original harness?.What's up with no spark, due to the harness?

Q: Do they make wire harness for a 2005 F150 yet?: You are going to need a multimeter Set it to 12 volts dc ( probably will be 20V, which works for this.) Ground the negative cable on the meter, to a secure ground. I like to stick it in the ignition, myself. DO NOT strip any wires at all, you can stick the point of the meter in just to make contact and get a reading without exposing any Hot wires. Slowly check each wire for 12 volts. ( if none read that, check your fuse box) that will be your constant 12v, or yellow. Then reground the meter, insert ket, turn to acc, then re meter all of the lines, looking for 12v again ( for red/switched +12v on the harness.) After finding that, switch it to Ohms, or the horseshoe looking one. Pick a wire as a starting point, and stick the other end of the meter in until it either reads a number, possible 2 - 8, and that's a speaker ( I would also write all of the colors down for this) And keep repeating until you fine all 2 to 4 plus speakers. Having cut the plug can also have done excessive damage, like to Onstar, if installed, or any security system also. using metal cutters, cutting through power/ground/speaker/ and other wires all at once, and sometimes be catastrophic to vehicles, seeing how much technology is in them. I hope the best for you, and next time, pony up for ther harness ;) Good Luck! P.S. if that seems too much to do, a hardwire goes for a couple hundred from a shop, as pure labor. just as a heads up.

Q: I am wanting to buy this d16y8 vtec motor and tranny from this guy for 350 dollars but he said he doesnt have the wiring harness. what is that and will it cost a lot?: A wiring harness is a bunch of wires that run out of a piece of equipment such as stereos, transmissions. steering columns etc. It typically has a plug on the end that plugs into another plug and makes the part work. Without it you have to splice wires from the transmission to the various places it needs to go. Such as but not limited to sensors and the computer.

Q: I have a 2008 dodge avenger with the premium sound system and navigation head unit. I wanted more power so I added a 4 channel amp. I ended up losing my mids by doing this, but didn't mind at the time as I had also added some subs, however I now want my mids and better overall sound so I bought an aftermarket radio. My question is, since I no longer use the factory amp and don't really care if I can use the steering wheel controls (getting remote with new radio), can I use a simple regular wire harness or do I still have to get one meant for premium sound systems? Also, the car had a double din navigation unit, the new unit will also be a double din unit, would I need a sleeve, or would it simply slide in replacing the stock radio? Thank you in advance for any help.: It'll come with a new sleeve. usually Premium speakers as the dealers call them are still cheap speakers. Why not just replace the speakers also? you're input is good with the amp you installed but the output is still those cheap factory speakers. You'll need a new harness since you're replacing the headunit.

Q: I am split between trying to restore the set i have and putting in a new one. I bought the bike off a guy but didn't know they butchered the wiring. Went with no instrument cluster, no fuse box, no turn signals, horn, headlight, tail light, starter button. All these wires were cut off short and re-routed to somehow make it work ( I still don't see how it ever did) so which way is easier. I will have the clymers manual for it very soon, but thought Id ask here if its worth 30 bucks and what all comes in it. Is it ALL the wires for the entire bike? is it just a main few and which ones? Please help: If you can you should try and find a motorcycle junkyard near your home. Go there and find your bike, take lots of pictures of the wiring harness as it is on the bike, and then carefully take it all off the donor bike and put it on yours. Not only will it be a lot cheaper than buying the hardware new, but you get the learning experience you will need to install it on your bike.
