- Q: Do 2 wheel drive chevy trucks have different wiring harness' than 4 wheel trucks. I believe all same year Chevys models have standard wiring harness' but I'm not sure if the four wheel drive trucks have the same as the two wheel drives. Does any one know? If not does any one know where to find out?
- Most manufacturers, to reduce cost, use the same wiring harness for all sub models of each make and model. There are definitely some exceptions, but as for pickups, they generally use the same harness and just put termination plugs into the connections they aren't using. Your best bet would be to call up a dealer and ask for a part number for both a 2WD and 4WD model of whatever truck it is you are looking for. If the part numbers are the same, you have your answer.

- Could be but not necessarily. It depends on engine/transmission combos and optional equipment. Also depends on which wiring harness you need, engine harness, front lighting harness, rear lighting harness, etc.
- Q: Got a new cd player for my car. It comes with wires, but I'd have to splice into my current wiring. Obviously I don't want to do that because Im lazy. So are wiring harnesses sold by make/model and custom fit without any splices? just plug in a male end to a female end of the current harness or what?
- Yes they are sold by make and model of your car. And they are also sold by speaker package too (some cars have a system in them). When you get your wire harness adapter make sure to wire the same colors together. Ex. White solid to white solid and white with black stripe to white with black stripe. Properly cover the exposed wires with some heat shrinks. And plug into your factory wire harness. Put the dash all together and go! That simple. I can uninstall and install a new radio with in a max of 30 mins
- Q: Hi I have a 1987 honda hatchback dx carb. And I bought a d15b2 engine to do the swap but the connections from the d15b2 harness don't plug in with the dashboard connections does anyone know where I can have one made? - specific. as long as its an OBD0 to OBD0, OBD1 to OBD1, OBD2 to OBD2 and if it Vtec or non Vtec. in case you attempt to swap an OBD1 to OBD2 do no longer artwork, and vise versa, If the two are OBD2 and are the two Vtec. yea that is going to artwork, you will in basic terms have a pair of cord left in case you employ the harness from a a million.8 Vtec.

- that wiring harness you bought gets wired to the wiring harness from you new head units wiring and plugs into were you unplug ed your factory head unit from.they call it plug and play.do not cut the plugs off your wiring harness under the dash.all wiring done on a bench tape or cap all contacts even the unused ones so you have no shorts.then just plug each plug into its own plug in.there's only one way they will fit and remove the contact covers in the plugs before you plug them in.and follow the wiring diagram that came with it the colors match up if you have the right make and yr and model of the plug in that fits your car.the (color code gets matched to the new stereos wiring)has nothing to do with wiring under dash,this is why you bought the plug in in the first place so you did not have to deal with all the dash wiring,it should plug in just like your factory stereo did.
- Q: Do they make wire harness for a 2005 F150 yet?
- You are going to need a multimeter Set it to 12 volts dc ( probably will be 20V, which works for this.) Ground the negative cable on the meter, to a secure ground. I like to stick it in the ignition, myself. DO NOT strip any wires at all, you can stick the point of the meter in just to make contact and get a reading without exposing any Hot wires. Slowly check each wire for 12 volts. ( if none read that, check your fuse box) that will be your constant 12v, or yellow. Then reground the meter, insert ket, turn to acc, then re meter all of the lines, looking for 12v again ( for red/switched +12v on the harness.) After finding that, switch it to Ohms, or the horseshoe looking one. Pick a wire as a starting point, and stick the other end of the meter in until it either reads a number, possible 2 - 8, and that's a speaker ( I would also write all of the colors down for this) And keep repeating until you fine all 2 to 4 plus speakers. Having cut the plug can also have done excessive damage, like to Onstar, if installed, or any security system also. using metal cutters, cutting through power/ground/speaker/ and other wires all at once, and sometimes be catastrophic to vehicles, seeing how much technology is in them. I hope the best for you, and next time, pony up for ther harness ;) Good Luck! P.S. if that seems too much to do, a hardwire goes for a couple hundred from a shop, as pure labor. just as a heads up.

- Cheaper in the long run to rent a TRUCK and not ruin the transmission in the Jeep. They were NEVER intended to tow anything heavy. Bruce
- Q: I just bought a 98 mustang 4.8L Convertible and the driver side head light did'nt work. No big deal right?Just go down and get a new light bulb well i got the bulb took apart the head light housing and the light for it did'nt fit. so i looked at a bit more and it looks like the bulb there isn't broke and the wiring on the head light is kinda screwy it has a main harness that hooks to another harness and the low and high beams are routed together well i took the main harness off the routed one and the new bulb works just fine in the main harness but wont fit in the headlight housing and doing that any way completely disconnects the high beams with the way it's set up so my question is i need a new routing harnes for the high and low beams but cant find one so if some one can give me a web site for the part i need if any one knows what i'm talking about i would really appreciate it
- Maybe a junk yard, or rebuilding the harness yourself is possible but it would be a dealer item or you can check with your local body shop for the harness as they may be able to get one from a supplier thats cheaper than the dealership prices but overall it should cost around 40 bucks for a pigtail harness.
