Q: I have a step side 1975 Dodge 100, and I been to junkyards and looked online, I can't find step side fenders anywhere. Also I was wondering how hard a wiring harness from E-Z wire or Summit is to put in it?
call 800-558-7750 browns of two rivers collision parts. see if they have them or can get them.
Q: hello, i ahve a rotax 340 form i think to be the 70s. and i would like to put a kill swich on it. but i dont know what wires to use. there are three. but i dont wanna mess it up. if you could help me by giving me a picture of how to do it or what wire to use i would be very happy. thank you
Just cut the power wire and install a kill switch between the cut wire and use the correct voltage kill switch for this unit. You can use a volt meter to find the power wire.
Q: I purchased a JVC KD-S37 from wal-mart today and looking at the package, i realized i need a wire harness. I dont know if i need a 9,11, or 16 Pin wire harness, and should it be small or large? Thanks
It's okorder
Q: Dealership claims rats chewed through the knock sensor wire harness, and I'm just curious what this part is actually doing?
The sensor wires transmit the signal back to the engines computer, and if an engine knock (caused by a too lean condition) is detected, it will tell the fuel system to enrich it self, by added more fuel. and this saves the engine from damage.
Q: Does anyone know what the wire harness is called that runs from the chassis to the door called on a 1995 jeep gc. This wire harness includes the speaker wires, power window wires, and power lock wires. I have checked everywhere and cannot see what this harness is called.
Its called a wire harness. I beleive it is the main dash wire harness, but you wont get anywhere with that if you are trying to get one from a parts house or dealer, You just have to hit and miss at the salvage yard or digging around yourself and get lucky. But if you can trace the wires to a block connector or firewall connector you will be in luck and just tell them the location of the block where the harness is connected and you should be there, just remember all your options in you truck will have to match the options in the donor truck or the harness wont work for you
Q: I am replacing the engine and trans on my 78 buick. The engine is completely out. There is a big relay switch or what ever it is called next to the power booster. There are three bundles of wires comming fromit. one set goes to the head lights and another( the big one) went to the carb, and other engine electrical parts. I want to replace the whole set of wires. Is that possible? If so what is the harness called, or do i need to replace each individual wire for each component? Is this cheap to do?
The answer lies in your question. It's called a wiring harness. You can get a complete wiring harness with the plugs and everything. Not more than $300. I haven't researched where to get one but try summit racing to start with.
Q: I had my head gasket and head resurfaced at a shop. When I picked up my car I drove it a little it seemed o.k. The next day I went over a dip in the road and the car shut off right away . The problem was the wiring harness under the radiator was hanging loose and was damaged when I hit the dip. The plastic coating was scaped off and wires were broken. I know that harness was not hanging before I took it for repair. Is it possible when they were doing the work on the heads and changing water pump they left the harness hanging?
Sure, it is possible. Have you taken it back to the shop that did the repairs? I don't believe they left the harness hanging loose on purpose, so give them a chance to rectify the issue. Good Luck.
Q: I am split between trying to restore the set i have and putting in a new one. I bought the bike off a guy but didn't know they butchered the wiring. Went with no instrument cluster, no fuse box, no turn signals, horn, headlight, tail light, starter button. All these wires were cut off short and re-routed to somehow make it work ( I still don't see how it ever did) so which way is easier. I will have the clymers manual for it very soon, but thought Id ask here if its worth 30 bucks and what all comes in it. Is it ALL the wires for the entire bike? is it just a main few and which ones? Please help
Marble is right.A used harness is the way to go.New from Yamaha is the price of a god used bike
Q: Hello, I am fixing up alot of my old cars electrical systems. So far I got everything taken apart just fine. I have a 1987 Chevy Celebrity with its stock stereo. I am trying to prepare it to get a new system in there. I am however not too knowlegable when it comes to the harness' that connect the stereo system all together. The connections it has are the regular power connection. in the corner 3 small connectors one on top of the other, and on the other side of it another small connector by itself. Is there any guides or anything I use to figure out how to convert thiss orr?thanks, any help will be greatly appreciated.
The small white connector has the constant power wire (orange) and an illumination wire (dark brown). The black connector has the key-switched power (yellow), ground wire (black), and another illumination wire (gray). It may also have a power antenna wire (pink). The white 4-pin connector has the front speaker wires. Left positive (tan), left negative (gray), right positive (light green) and right negative (dark green). The blue connector has the rear speaker wires. Left positive (brown), left negative (yellow), right positive (dark blue) and right negative (light blue). The thick black wire is an AM/FM antenna plug. You can purchase a wire harness adapter that fits all the power/speaker plugs. The Metra part number is 70-1677.
Q: I accidentally cut the stock wire harness piece out thinking, that i would just strip the wires and twist them in witht the coenciding colors to my Aftermarket radio, then none of the wires matched. And now all i see is to use a wire harness but that option is out since i cut the wires free from the small harness plug thing that was origanally attactched. any help would greatly be appreciated.
You are going to need a multimeter Set it to 12 volts dc ( probably will be 20V, which works for this.) Ground the negative cable on the meter, to a secure ground. I like to stick it in the ignition, myself. DO NOT strip any wires at all, you can stick the point of the meter in just to make contact and get a reading without exposing any Hot wires. Slowly check each wire for 12 volts. ( if none read that, check your fuse box) that will be your constant 12v, or yellow. Then reground the meter, insert ket, turn to acc, then re meter all of the lines, looking for 12v again ( for red/switched +12v on the harness.) After finding that, switch it to Ohms, or the horseshoe looking one. Pick a wire as a starting point, and stick the other end of the meter in until it either reads a number, possible 2 - 8, and that's a speaker ( I would also write all of the colors down for this) And keep repeating until you fine all 2 to 4 plus speakers. Having cut the plug can also have done excessive damage, like to Onstar, if installed, or any security system also. using metal cutters, cutting through power/ground/speaker/ and other wires all at once, and sometimes be catastrophic to vehicles, seeing how much technology is in them. I hope the best for you, and next time, pony up for ther harness ;) Good Luck! P.S. if that seems too much to do, a hardwire goes for a couple hundred from a shop, as pure labor. just as a heads up.
