Q: I was swapping out the factory radio for an after market one, after it was wired up I realized that the harness they gave me was incorrect. When I went to put the old one back in it wouldn't turn on, I checked the power at the harness I had 12volts all the car fuses were good and I there are no fuses on the actual radio.Any suggestions?: id make sure u didn bend any of the pins in the harness' connector. then i'd check ur fuses

Q: I have a 1986 toyota pickup with wing windows and a pocket below the stereo, and I'm trying to install a new Pioneer radio for it. All the cords in the toyota pickup are different chords than what they are for the new wire harness i'm trying to install. I'm trying to figure out which cord is the one that will turn it on and the cord that connected to the ignition. I'm really confused and I don't want to buy an adapter for it because I'm converting the pickup into a four speaker system.Please only answer if you know the chords. And I'm not getting any power at all to it. Not a single flash. Hooking up the speaker wires won't help it turn on will it. I just dont want to get to crazy but if thats the case then I'll do it.: Chilton manual $25 bucks with all the wiring diagrams

Q: how do i fix this problem with my speakers everything else is working fine just no sound coming out my speakers and they where working fine with the factory radio: I'm pretty sure that there is no switched power in that harness. Check the pin on the factory harness with the red one on your radio harness. If there isn't a pin there then you need to find switched power somewhere within the vehicle. Your best bet is probably the ignition or accessory wire in your ignition harness. I don't think I've ever found a switched power fuse with enough amperage capability in a BMW.

Q: I bought a wiring harness and im trying to connect it too my aftermarket stereo wire and my aftermarket stereo wire does not have an orange/white one like the other harness does. I looked and this orange/white wire is the dimmer wire. I was just wondering what that wire did and do i need it hooked up?: if your new stereo does not have a dimmer wire you do not hook that wire to anything.

Q: I have a aftermarket double din receiver and was told by my local audio shop that i need to install a wiring harness. Why do i need one? Doesn't my RCA give the audio signal to the amplifier and from the amplifier to the speakers. Can't i just directly connect the speakers to the amplifier?: You do not absolutely need a wiring harness. A wiring harness usually makes for a more professional and an easier installation with less potential for wiring errors and allows the installation to be done without cutting or splicing into the vehicle wiring. The single best reason to use a wiring harness is that it allows you to make the splices to the aftermarket harness on your workbench or dining room table where you have more light and room to work. Anyone who has soldered or crimped 12 or 15 wires together underneath a dashboard will recognize the value right away. And that's the 2nd best reason: A wiring harness is so inexpensive, it just doesn't make sense NOT to use one.

Q: Ihave a 2001 dodge ram and I am installing a new front bumper but when I took the bumper off I noticed that underneath the passenger headlight there is a random wiring harness that isn't connected to anything.I was wondering if anyone knew what it is or what it is supposed to be wired to: Is it a diesel? It could be your block heater for the cold months.

Q: I have a 2003 Harley Davidson soft tail (with a carburetor) that needs a new main wire harness. I recently purchased a harness for a 2000 model 'Deuce', and everything plugs in just like the old one except it (the Deuce) has a 8-pin connector going to the turn signal module instead of 12-pins (like the original). Any info anyone can give me regarding the differences in these harnesses would be helpful and greatly appreciated, however right now my biggest objective is to just get a spark to the spark plug so I can start the bike. Thanks in advance for any advice.: You have the wrong harness. The 2000's use a straight turn signal module. In 2001, HD integrated a factory security system into the bkes. When they did this, they integrated the security system into the turn signal module which is called a turn signal/security module (TSSM). You would see this in the wiring diagram if you had a FACTORY service manual.this is why you NEVER attempt any work on your own without a manual!!! A manual will pay for itself the first time it saves you from an experience like this. What was wrong with your original harness?.What's up with no spark, due to the harness?

Q: I want to know if thr wiring harness is messed up can i just buy a new wiring harness for the alternator? I don't kno what to do cause it won't pass smog. I need an honest answer from an electrical specialist. The mecanic the wires were cut off and modified. Can somebody please help me.: Yes it is possible to get the wiring harness back to original. Call up junk yard and they can clip the wires. You'd have to cut your modified harness. Try to cut it where you can hide the electrical tape so the inspectors can't see the mickey mouse job you did. If you want it done correctly look into getting a very expensive harness because that harness runs with the engine harness. Although some vehicles don't but I couldn't tell you that unless I see the car. Hope this helps.

Q: I have an 88 Camaro that the stereo was stolen out of before I bought the vehicle. I am thinking about putting a new stereo in it. I looked at the wires already in the dash, but it appears that the factory wiring harness was cutout when the stereo was stolen. Should i try to replace the wiring harness with something from the factory, or should I Just try to install the new stereo using barrel connectors and directly connect the stereo wires to the pre-existing wires?: Many stereo installation centers have patch kits for just such instances where the previous stereo was stolen and the harness is damaged. See if you can find one of those first. Or try a wrecking yard for a factory hookup. If you cannot find one, then just wire it straight to the harness. Remember, even if you replace the factory wiring, you will still have to get the adapter to hook the new stereo into the factory harness. If you are not worried about removing the stereo later when you plan to upgrade or sell the car, just wire it to the harness and don't worry about the factory connectors. Just make sure you wire it correctly.
