Q: I have a 1994 Geo Tracker. I have a AIWA CTX409 (is ISO/DIN compliant and conform to the ISO Wire Color Code standard if that makes a difference)head unit in. Q: I'm a little confused on how to hook up my new stereo in my car. When i first got my car, it already had another car stereo in it(not the original stereo that came in the car) and im assuming that it already had a wire harness for the stereo in it. So im guessing that i dont need to buy another wire harness for a new stereo that i got, right? I was wondering something, does the wire harness thats already cut and spliced in the care already, just have to go into the new stereo i got? all i would need to do is make sure the wires match the one in the new stereo's digram? Also, whats the point of a new stereo coming with its own wires if whenever its put into a car, it needs a specific wire harness to your car?sorry if its confusing, im just trying to write down what i exactly mean.: the yellow wire is supposed to go to constant power. the pink wire is supposed to go to a switchable power source. usually an ACC wire.

Q: i have a wiring harness that leads from my radio and it's stuck inside the other wiring harness, it's cracked on the one side and i can't seem to get it out any suggestions would be helpful: Pull hard. It will come out There is slit in the corrugated loom.If it has that tape on it, note that it isn't adhesive. You can unwrap it like a mummy--takes a while--or slit it (Careful!) open and use electrical tape to replace it. If it's melted and cracked, it may take insulation from any wire it touched. There was a short--find and fix this Before you replace the wire or it'll do it again.

Q: all of the wire harnesses ive bout do not line up with all of the oem radio harness wires: The 08 Malibu uses a LAN system. The headunit communicates with many other things in the car. You cannot just remove the factory radio and use a regular wire harness. You need a special interface to trick the car into thinking the factory radio is still installed. Metra makes them. It's probably part# LC-GMRC-LAN-03, but check with your local car audio shop. Fair warning, they're not cheap. Probably ~$125 retail. Additionally, do you have steering wheel controls that control the radio? If so, these will be lost when installing anything aftermarket unless you purchase another interface. The Metra ASWC-1 (another $100 retail). This will plug into the GMRC interface listed above and will likely program itself (see instructions). Most of the late model GM vehicles are like this. Sucks. I know.
