Q: I bought a cd/dvd player for my 2006 Chevrolet Equinox. I cannot find a wiring harness for it from walmart or best buy. I have looked online for one but found them to be from $90-$130. What makes this so expensive?
It might be expensive b/c you have the factory sub. If that's the case the head-unit has to have a harness that allows it to use the factory amp to power the sub. Also, you may have to get an expensive wiring harness to keep OnStar, door chimes, etc. Good luck!
Q: I currently have a Pioneer after market head unit. (I don't have subs or amps or anything.) It was installed with the proper wiring harness. I am going to replace it with a newer Pioneer model. Will my old harness still work fine? The old head unit is about 7 years old and has a lot of the features newer units have now (MP3 capability, satellite radio, etc.)
No, there will be something that comes with your new head unit that you attach to the wiring harness, just take the one to your old pioneer off (Your wiring harness is specific for your car, not your head unit)
Q: Hello i recently put a 03 Cobra Trunk lid with drag spoiler on my 2002 v6 Mustang everything fit perfectly but when i went to wire the 3rd brake light up to the stock wiring harness the clips didnt match so is their like a wiring harness i can get that can connect the 2 ?
The Cobra harness is from a newer Mustang. The different years or the different models have different connectors. At this point all you can do is cut and splice. You'll have to cut the harness end off your v6 lid and cut the end off the Cobra lid and splice them together so you can plug it into your trunk harness. Or you can do the right thing and just put the spoiler on the v6 lid and bypass the wrong trunk lid altogether. You'd need to drill in a few places to mount it.
Q: I started up my bike after being dormant for a while and there was a very small amount of smoke coming from around the wiring harness located under the seat. I shut the bike off, but the harness remained very hot. Once it cooled I started the bike again and the wires became hot again. Does anyone have any suggestion for why this might be? Is it normal? What can I do to fix my bike?
like everyone else is saying, you have a short somewhere. usually if there is a short a fuse will blow, but it maybe that your wiring has been 'modified' to bypass the fuses. if it happens when the ignition is on but the motor isn't running, then I would suspect homemade wiring. if it only happens when the motor is running, then it may be the voltage regulator and/or diode is faulty, causing overvoltage. look for scorch marks.
Q: I need to change a 1987 wiring harness to a 1984 V4 engine in a Pontiac Fiero.
you can buy a manual at a parts store or you can try the parts stores online. Auto zone O'Reillys and NAPA all have wiring diagrams online for some vehicles. You can also buy a download from OKorder for your car. They are $10 or less usually. Good luck.
Q: I own a 2005 chevy cobalt (base) (no pioneer upgrade/onstar). I bought a pioneer DEH-x5500HD and dont know which harness to buy.
you buy the narness that fits your vehicle. being a 2005 chevy cobalt without onstar. the harness fits the car. the harness for the radio itself will be color coded to fit the harness for the car. M.E.C.P. Certified Installer since 1997
Q: and if i could cana i just connect the wires togethers and put elec tap around it
Why okorder
Q: 1999 saab 95 do they make one for taking out the radio to put in a aftermarket
you don't have to have the adapter to wire in the stereo. if your not experienced all you need is the cars color codes for the stereo wires
Q: I have a 1987 toyota pickup and When I tried following the color-code diagrahm I found online I crossed two wires and had a major melt down. I took a few hours and seperated all the witres that were melted together, and now I don't have a cig lighter or center clock. I'm pretty sure I won't be able to hook my CD player up to the ignition system, unless someone knows something I don' (pretty likely in this field). If I can't do it that way, is there a way to wire it straight to something else that is always on when the truck is running and off when it is off, or should I run it straight from the battery? Also, what would be the proper way of doing that? Thanks for looking and hopefully you can give me advice, or direct me to someone who can.
take the red wire ( usually it,s the hot wire ) and run it to a hot source like the battery then run the black wire to the grounds somewhere. now just run the ground and hot wires from the right speaker to the radio wires and touch them until the right speaker plays and do the same for the left speaker.
Q: i have a headunit i wanna put in my car that a friend gave me but there are no wires on the back of it, is there supposed to be a wiring harness or something on the back? if so can i buy a cheap wiring harness someplace?
Yes it's suppose to have a wiring harness. You can try the website of the company that made the radio and see if you can buy a harness for it. Or if you give me the make and model of the radio i will try to find one for you.
