Q:I know there are different wiring harnesses for different head units.: Every head unit is going to have a specific harness that is designed for the head unit by the manufacturer of the head unit. So, if you are looking at a Kenwood head unit, it'll have a Kenwood harness. If you are looking at a Pioneer head unit, it'll have a Pioneer harness. They also make wiring harnesses that are vehicle specific. This will plug into the harness in your Honda, and wire up to the harness coming off of the aftermarket head unit. So, you have two harnesses that wire together. Basically, you can purchase any head unit, and as long as you purchase the correct harness for the vehicle side of things you'll be all set.

Q:hi i have a pioneer deh-2400 (no wiring harness) and i need to know what other pioneers use the same plug: All of the pioneers around the year that model came out will have the same plug. I'm not sure if they are still using that same harness currently but you can check at best buy/circuit city. They will have a harness for pioneer radios that you can try. If it doesn't fit then you can always return it. Good Luck!!!

Q:I recently bought a wiring harness because the 50 yr. old wiring is in bad shape. How hard is this gonna be? I have alot of electrical experience on newer cars, but I know nothing about wiring a generator, coil, and points-type distributor. Anyone ever done this before?: If you've had previous wiring experience, it should be a snap. I'm sure instructions came with the harness. Take extra time when wiring the external voltage regulator. There are plenty of illustrations on generator/regulator setups on the internet. And now would be the time to pop open the regulator box and clean the relay contacts. The toughest will probably be lifting the trunk mat to replace the rear wiring as rust is usually a factor.

Q:hey guys i have a 2001 alero and i got an aftermarket stereo for it i just bought the wire harness connector and hooked it all up but the stereo has no power i matched all wires color for color and theres 4 wires that had no matches for them orange/white for dimmer, orange for dash light, blue for power antenna, black/white for amp ground, none of these wires are for power is there a reason it could not be working? did i do something wrong?: You bought the wrong wire harness. The factory radio in the 2001 Alero is data-controlled, meaning there's no key-switched power wire in the radio harness. If you look closely at the red wire in your adapter harness, you'll see that it doesn't match up with any wire in the factory radio plug. In this vehicle, you need a data adapter module like Metra's GMRC-01 to properly install a new head unit.

Q:I need to connect a wire to my Sony stereo's wiring harness. The wire that i need to run comes out of the head unit, connects with the other wires to the stock wiring harness, but doesn't continue out of the other side of the connector. I thought this would be the best way to connect the wire. But how do I get it to stay put in the connector? Looks like it needs a little tiny female end, but I don't have one that small.: Radio Shack usually sells small terminals for radio installs. Or car stereo shops. Are you sure you need to connect that wire? Otherwise, you can just splice the wire to whichever wire it goes to with a butt connector.

Q:I have a 1996 s14 with a s13 ka24de in it (whoever i bought it from cut the harness to fit the motor and now my car won't start).: Well I can connot tell you all the wires will work. Here is my question. Is the engine the same year of the body? Cause from year to year they change the wiring and pluges. You hap to use all the electric parts in that year of the body. Most peoplle don't know the plug end of the wires can be change. Plus newer hard ware will not work on older wiring and the solf wear. Nor will old hard wear and solf wear will work on newer system. That why the mechanic changes the electric hard over to the engine going in. If there is a wiring shop in your area for automtive. It would be the cheapest place to go to have it repair and wired right. 12 votage to a smal amp wire can burn the computer up. Diagram for the wiring is hard to fine. Most shop do even have it. Only wiring shop seem to have them. Guess is so people cannot over ride alarms system and take someone less vehicle. What is out there is pice mill at best.

Q:I want to know if thr wiring harness is messed up can i just buy a new wiring harness for the alternator? I don't kno what to do cause it won't pass smog. I need an honest answer from an electrical specialist. The mecanic the wires were cut off and modified. Can somebody please help me.: Yes it is possible to get the wiring harness back to original. Call up junk yard and they can clip the wires. You'd have to cut your modified harness. Try to cut it where you can hide the electrical tape so the inspectors can't see the mickey mouse job you did. If you want it done correctly look into getting a very expensive harness because that harness runs with the engine harness. Although some vehicles don't but I couldn't tell you that unless I see the car. Hope this helps.

Q:Hi,I want to install an aftermarket radio in my 1996 Honda Accord, but I realized that my accord does NOT have a vehicle factory wiring harness on the radio wires for some reason. I understand that when you buy an aftermarket stereo you are going to need a harness, but it has to connect to the factory harness already installed in the car. I got it really cheap so I'm expecting some problems like this. What should I do?: Are you stating that some previous owner cut off the factory harness connector? In that case go to a junkyard and cut off one from a wrecked car and splice it on to your car. Then you can connect the aftermarket stereo and harness adapter to it.
