Q: Heres where it is and what it looks like:It's in a 2007 Ford Mustang 4.0I'm taking out my shaker right now - my car is in my driveway with everything disconnected except the stupid wiring harness behind the place where you set where you want your air to come out (ie defrost, down by the feet, etc)
Um. Welll pull the HU out. Find a Clip or push down piece of plastic on the harness. SHould come off with a little bit pulling.
Q: I'm a little confused on how to hook up my new stereo in my car. When i first got my car, it already had another car stereo in it(not the original stereo that came in the car) and im assuming that it already had a wire harness for the stereo in it. So im guessing that i dont need to buy another wire harness for a new stereo that i got, right? I was wondering something, does the wire harness thats already cut and spliced in the care already, just have to go into the new stereo i got? all i would need to do is make sure the wires match the one in the new stereo's digram? Also, whats the point of a new stereo coming with its own wires if whenever its put into a car, it needs a specific wire harness to your car?sorry if its confusing, im just trying to write down what i exactly mean.
This Site Might Help You. RE: how does a car stereo wire harness exactly work? I'm a little confused on how to hook up my new stereo in my car. Q: for and aftermarket stereo in my car?my friend says he can install my stereo for me without one but it will take longer and is more difficult. also he says i wont be able to put my factory stereo back in again. is this true?
no but it is always safer to do and alot less complicated a harness in 10 dollars at walmart but goto a radio audio store and there 15 dollars nd u just macth up colors anyone can do it
Q: Does anyone know what the wire harness is called that runs from the chassis to the door called on a 1995 jeep gc. This wire harness includes the speaker wires, power window wires, and power lock wires. I have checked everywhere and cannot see what this harness is called.
Its called a wire harness. I beleive it is the main dash wire harness, but you wont get anywhere with that if you are trying to get one from a parts house or dealer, You just have to hit and miss at the salvage yard or digging around yourself and get lucky. But if you can trace the wires to a block connector or firewall connector you will be in luck and just tell them the location of the block where the harness is connected and you should be there, just remember all your options in you truck will have to match the options in the donor truck or the harness wont work for you
Q: I am trying to find out how to re-insulate wires on a wiring harness. how dangerous is to have soreasonerre-soder the wires and reinsulate them? I have been looking online about this and can't find much about it.
As long as you have basic knowledge of soldering and you are working on wires that aren't connected to the power you should be fine. You could use shrink wraps to re-insulate the wires. The new insulation should last for years, all depends on what kind of atmospheric or mechanical conditions apply to your harness.
Q: I am wanting to buy a harness for my vehicle to install a system in it. When I am researching the harness options, they all say not for premium systems. My vehicle has a stock amp in it, is that what it is talking about?
Possibly--it depends on the vehicle. For example, most Chrysler Infinity systems will work fine with a standard wire harness, even though it says not for premium systems. Many GM vehicles have factory amps, but they're designed for use with a standard head unit, so they'll work fine with an after-market head unit using a standard harness. On the other hand, most Bose and JBL systems use a low-level output from the head unit to the stock amp(s), so a standard harness wouldn't work as well unless you used it with a premium sound adapter module. I'm pretty sure the standard harness will work for you Santa Fe's Monsoon system. You'll have to make sure to connect the wire in the harness that activates the factory amplifier.
Q: I bought a stereo harness at walmart that said it was good for all Chrysler 1974-and-up. It even stated my vehicle. When I opened it, it has three plugs but the back of my factory stereo only has two. I noticed that most the wires from the two I need run into the third one. Could I cut the wires where it runs into the third and connect it directly to my new stereos wiring system? I am trying to remove the third plug because it has nothing to plug into. Would removing it help or be worthless.?This harness is reverse so i can connect a new stereo without cutting my factory harnesses off.
It is hard to say without seeing a picture, but it may just have three because some of the Chryslers(1974-and up) may actually have three and the maker of the wiring kit would have to put out multiple kits. What you should do is hook it up without splicing anything and see if it works. If it doesn't then it is time to splice them together.
Q: I have an 88 Camaro that the stereo was stolen out of before I bought the vehicle. I am thinking about putting a new stereo in it. I looked at the wires already in the dash, but it appears that the factory wiring harness was cutout when the stereo was stolen. Should i try to replace the wiring harness with something from the factory, or should I Just try to install the new stereo using barrel connectors and directly connect the stereo wires to the pre-existing wires?
I would say just hard wire it in. One reason being the difficulty in locating a factory harness the other being it minimizes the amount of work you have to do. Just make sure to check the owners manual for the correct schematicsof the stereo wires as auto manufacturers in the 80's were notorious for not having a standard color coded wire setup
Q: i have the complete wiring harness for my craftsman lawn mower. i have the ignition switch and all kids of wires that im pretty sure i dont need i just need/want it to start it and kill it.i need to know what wiring i need to use just for the ignition switch and if i am going to have to bypass other wiresit is an upright motor the flywheel is already on it i just need to know how to get power to the starter and to be able to use my key switch i plan on putting it on my go cart so i dont need half the wires on the wire harness.
Look on the back of the key switch The prongs should be marked with letters. You need to look closely to see them. The one marked B is the hot wire strait from the battery The one marked S goes to the solenoid. The one marked G is a ground just ground it to the frame some where. The one marked M is hooked to the kill wire coming from the motor. The one marked L goes to the charge wire but you can also omit this and run the charge wire strait to the battery.
Q: Does any one know where I can get a Painless Wiring harness for a 1970 mustang part #20122 for less then $700? It seems it only sells for about $760 when the Kwik Wire sells for less than half that.
Maybe they sell a universal model : )
