Q: And how difficult is this should I just do it myself. Haven't seen the car yet just bought it.I Have only worked on modern vehicles is this still a twelve volt system. Thanks.: This should be a 12 volt system but I could be wrong. A lot of people had their 6 volt systems changed to 12 volt. It really doesn't matter which system cause they will look the same. One thing is the car will have a generator not an alternator. If its a generator it will look like a starter motor. On the conversions most people put in an alternator with an integral voltage regulator to minimize the wiring. Also 3 battery caps is a 6 volt and 6 caps is a 12 volt. Good Luck.

Q: I have a 01 Nissan frontier xe. I need to know where I can find a wiring harness for the Sony cd player I have that will fit my truck. I bought one but it didn't work. The Sony is a couple years old but is like new. So I figured I'd use it and save a little money. I connected all the wires by the color code pluged it in and nothing happened. When I was done wiring everything. I had three wires left over, orange(illumination)dark blue(antenna)black/white(lightning ground) do I need those if my stereo didn't have them. And what could have been the problem. All my fuses are good. I pluged my stock stereo back in when it didn't work and it fired right up. Anything will help: antenna no radio might stil play disk first you sure you got a hot wire an d a ground wire right dont really need any thing but to tie the wires in right palce to make on e work red hot power black ground rest are speakers wire which also goes to ground wire black ho w sure are you its a good radio

Q: Basically over about a four month period the radio/cd player in my truck was going on and off. It would work sometimes randomly, but now it is completely dead. I changed all the fuses and that isn't where the issue is. I have the original radio and I don't really want to replace it. I feel like if the fault were in the radio itself, it would have simply gone dead and not worked. I am just wondering if this has happened to anyone else, or if anyone has any advice about what the cause could be? The truck itself is 17 years old, so it's a possibility that over time a wire came loose, or even for the radio to die. It came with a 5 cd changer that is in the cab, and I noticed at the very beginning before it starting cutting on and off that it would say that it couldn't read cd's. That was probably a few days prior, and then when the radio did actually work, the same problem persisted. What do you think the problem is?: You answered your question, you have a 17 year old electronic device, in probably in the worst environment ever. The heat/cold, vibrations, everything included in a vehicle's use, are the enemy of electronics. The good part is, even with an older vehicle, you can still add an aftermarket radio, and still take it with you when you get a new vehicle. Good Luck!!

Q: a shop is doing a n engine swap for me (due to my lack of time and place). I specifically told them not to pull the interior wiring harness out because it was not needed to convert the wiring. They did anyway are are now trying to charge me 3 times what they quoted. It would be a huge help if some one knew about how many hours it takes to remove and replace th interior wiring harness in a '91 honda civic dx. Thanks fellow viewers!: no,,do not fool with painless wiring at all, i have had some dealings with them,and is not as painless as they want you to think it is,you,ll be better off getting a harness from the vehicle your getting the engine from,its much easier to work with believe me i have been there and done it both ways,either way there's a lot of work involved in doing it ,but one way is easier to do,but you,ll need the diagram of the newer truck *** well as the older one,and you can do it ,but your going to have to be really patient,i wish you luck,And i hope this help,s.

Q: i have a wiring harness that leads from my radio and it's stuck inside the other wiring harness, it's cracked on the one side and i can't seem to get it out any suggestions would be helpful: Pull hard. It will come out There is slit in the corrugated loom.If it has that tape on it, note that it isn't adhesive. You can unwrap it like a mummy--takes a while--or slit it (Careful!) open and use electrical tape to replace it. If it's melted and cracked, it may take insulation from any wire it touched. There was a short--find and fix this Before you replace the wire or it'll do it again.

Q: I have a 1986 volvo 240 DL with a kenwood indash reciever in it. I want to connect the reciever again. I need to know what color red connects to, What color does black connect to, what color does yellow connects to and thats it. Some one please help me!: red is 12volt constant black is ground yellow is 12 volt trigger are you asking what wires coming from the receiver connect to in the factory wiring harness or vice verse? Go buy a voltmeter. they are $6 at walmart. Test the loose factory wires by setting the voltmeter to 12v dc. touch one of the probes to the frame, or any metal on the car, then with the car off, touch the probe to the loose oem wires. if the voltmeter shows a current with the car off, that is the 12v constant. there ya go, you can just run the black wire from the back of the receiver to any metal ground. the last wire would be your trigger.
