Q: i am changing outboards from a 85 omc seadrive to a 1990 evinrude, and need to know if the original boat harness will work on the evinrude, they both have the omc red plugs and connect easily.: Since OMC also builds Evenrude and Johnson identical to everything but the paint job and logo, you won't have any problems. When any manufacturer makes a major wiring harness change, they will change the plug/socket configuration to prevent letting all the smoke out of something from a wiring mismatch.

Q: i need to know what other stock radios will fit in my car so i can get 1 from a junk yard so i need another stock deck that has the same wires: Here's the best I can do; Go to AutoZone, or someplace like that, and look at harnesses for installation . Note if any of them show the same cars in their application list. I'm thinking some small Fords- they're related.

Q: I purchased a JVC Car Stereo from a Pawn Shop. It did not come with the mounting wires for the back of the stereo. It is a 16 pin and the model # is (KD-G140). I cannot find the wire harness for my specific model. Please help!: Bad idea to buy that deck without the wires. Thats like buying a keyboard for your computer with no keys. Unfortunately everywhere Ive looked online says this deck is discontinued. They dont sell it anymore. :( Keep looking. Call the manufacturer. Number should be posted on the deck itself somewhere if it isnt faded away already.

Q: I have a 2000 impala, and just got a aftermarket stereo because the ones on impalas mess up too easily, but anyways i connected all the wires, ground on the screw, all the speaker wires, the ignition wire is hooked up to a red wire coming from the stereo, and im assuming since the other one is red, that this one goes there, and i got the basic GM harness, i dont want to wast money on the chime ones, also got a antenna adapter, but when i plug everything in you can hear it like it just reset then when you press Display, the time an everything else glows up, but turns back off and nothing else works, im assuming its the ignition wire but give me your opinions please.: you didn't connect the wires rightthe plug in to your stereo have all the colors and you connect them to the wire harness same colors, some of em are white and black and solid white so make sure tyou got em all connected right

Q: I am rebuilding an 1981 FLH. My question concerns the wiring harness. Coming off the starter relay there are four wires. Two are black ground wires, one is green going to the solonoid and the other is orange(pin 87) that is supposed to go up to a copper stud under the instrument panel. The previous owner just had this orange wire running straight over to the copper bar off the battery. The bike ran fine for years like this so I assume its ok. I was just wondering if anyone can tell me a little more about what the orange wire is for?: I also have an '81 FLH--- welcome to the elite club-- the orange wire is a power wire to the relay, mine is hooked to the power side of the main circuit breaker, same as the wire to the ignition switch. Also if you are re-wiring w/o diagram, make sure the power wire to the start button goes thru the neutral switch or the bike will be able to be started in gear---trust me thats a problem waiting to happen. Just found what I was looking for earlier--The relay has numbered contacts---No. 1 is the power wire--No. 2 goes to the solenoid--No. 3 goes to the start button--No. 4 goes to ground

Q: I have two orange wires that come from aftermarket wire harness that are for a dimmer and illumination but no wires this color coming from the aftermarket car stereo wire harness. Are these wires not to be used then? No dimmer? Thanks: most stereos come with a dimmer wire, this is usually sent straight to the dimmer switch. If the stereo did not come with one, then the answer is no, because you cant. Did you read the instructions? you forgot to mention whether or not the stereo can dimmer, and if theyre are wires for it. If the stereo aftermarket does not have a wire that allows the stereo to dimm, then theyre is no wire to allow your stereo to dimm. Wires from different manufactures can color code wires in unusual colors somtimes. Just because your harness has a blue wire, doesnt mean that the stereo has a blue wire, it may have a red wire instead.

Q: Do they make wire harness for a 2005 F150 yet?: to replace the factory radio with an aftermarket one, go to circuit city. to replace the factory harness itself i would suggest going to your local ford dealership

Q: i have a 97 acura integra rs non vtec (b18b1) and i need to know if my factory wiring harness will fit a b18c or b18c1 (obd 1) which is vtec? i know i will have to run the wires for the vtec and since i have a skunk 2 intake, the secondary runners in the intake of the b18c/c1 will be not needed to be ran. and yes i will have the p72 (gsr) ecu for the vtec pinouts. for the obd1 part i will be getting a skunk 2 conversion harness that goes obd2 to obd1.: me too and i still see what she said another frankenstein the makes

Q: I have a 98 jeep grand Cherokee and I just bought a pioneer stereo for it. We got a wiring harness and connected everything how it goes except 3 wires ( mute, dimmer and illumination) but the radio won't come on. Should I be connecting those 3 wires? If so, where?: I dont know what any of those do so im gonna say no. You must either have a wire wrong or a blown fuse which a wrong wire will result in a blown fuse. Maybe your power and ground accidently touched when you were installing it. There is usually a fuse under the hood and in your inside fuse panel.

Q: I bought a JVC cd reciever and I'm dissatisfied with the product, so I've ordered a Pioneer cd reciever and I wanted to know if the wiring harness that hooks into the back of the cd reciever will hook into the back of the Pioneer reciever. I've already hard wired the stereo harness to the factory wiring harness and I want to know if I will have to cut all the connectors to install the new cd player or if I can just plug it in and go.Thanks: Your first mistake was cutting off the stock harness. You never do this. They make harnesses that plug into your stock car harness that you wire the new radio harness to to make a jumper harness so when you want to change out the radio, it's easier, or if you want to put your stock radio back in to sell the car it's easy too.
