- Q: I have a 1995 GMC suburban k1500 5.7L. They make a 7.4L motor for this specific truck as well same make and model suburban just different option. I just don't know if the wire harness is different.
- More than likely it's different but no need to swap the entire thing, just the parts that are different. Most likely the ignition system and probably the location of the other sensors like oil pressure, water temp and maybe the location of a few other items like alternator and starter.
- Q: i bought a wiring harness to fit my 1999 toyota rav4 and i want to kno if the wiring can just be connected to corresponding colors. my scosche bag for the wiring kit says:yellow is 12v constantred is switchedblack is groundblue is power antennaorange is illumination dont have to connectwhite is left front +white/black is left front -grey is right front +grey/black is right front -then i have a second harness the hasgreen and greenblackviolet and violetblack for rear speakersi wanted to kno if the scoche wiring harness would match up to the colors on my harness for the pioneer deh2400ub.
- just use the directions that came with the wiring adapter kit for your type car,the colors may not be a match. this plug in im talking about gets wired to your new stereos wiring harness then just plugs into the places you unplugged your factory stereo from.its called plug and play use the directions. one plug is your (power supply) and the other is for (speakers) its as simply as that.
- Q: I have a 2002 alero that im installing a new deck in, the original harness was already cut off when i got it. all the wires are there but there is no switched 12v wire to connect to so it will shut off when i take the key out, is the a wire somewhere close i could tap into for that?
- Check and see if the cig lighter has power when the car is off. If not, that will work. The power is on the back, not the side.
- Q: I have a 1997 Ford Explorer Sport 4X4 and I am looking for a engine wire harness. Do anyone know where I can find one?
- It is very common in salvage yards from roll overs, since Ford was recommending tire pressure of 26 psi. So you should be able to get a wire harness for $10 or so.
- Q: Do they make wire harness for a 2005 F150 yet?
- You are going to need a multimeter Set it to 12 volts dc ( probably will be 20V, which works for this.) Ground the negative cable on the meter, to a secure ground. I like to stick it in the ignition, myself. DO NOT strip any wires at all, you can stick the point of the meter in just to make contact and get a reading without exposing any Hot wires. Slowly check each wire for 12 volts. ( if none read that, check your fuse box) that will be your constant 12v, or yellow. Then reground the meter, insert ket, turn to acc, then re meter all of the lines, looking for 12v again ( for red/switched +12v on the harness.) After finding that, switch it to Ohms, or the horseshoe looking one. Pick a wire as a starting point, and stick the other end of the meter in until it either reads a number, possible 2 - 8, and that's a speaker ( I would also write all of the colors down for this) And keep repeating until you fine all 2 to 4 plus speakers. Having cut the plug can also have done excessive damage, like to Onstar, if installed, or any security system also. using metal cutters, cutting through power/ground/speaker/ and other wires all at once, and sometimes be catastrophic to vehicles, seeing how much technology is in them. I hope the best for you, and next time, pony up for ther harness ;) Good Luck! P.S. if that seems too much to do, a hardwire goes for a couple hundred from a shop, as pure labor. just as a heads up.
- Q: Hi I want to install an amp in my 98 eclipse since I installed a new stereo and it won't work because of the factory amp. So I want to put in a new amp and I read that you need to buy wires to install the amp, but I already have a wiring harness beneath the passenger seat. Is that all I need? or will I need to install new wires?
- I would recomend that you run new wires cause factory wires are not the best gauge to carry the proper voltage to make you amp run at its best capability and it is best if the ground is no longer than 12 inches. Also make sure your rca jacks are run from a different way than your hot wire and remote wire to keep from having a motor noise or any feedback what so ever.
- Q: I know there are different wiring harnesses for different head units.
- Every head unit is going to have a specific harness that is designed for the head unit by the manufacturer of the head unit. So, if you are looking at a Kenwood head unit, it'll have a Kenwood harness. If you are looking at a Pioneer head unit, it'll have a Pioneer harness. They also make wiring harnesses that are vehicle specific. This will plug into the harness in your Honda, and wire up to the harness coming off of the aftermarket head unit. So, you have two harnesses that wire together. Basically, you can purchase any head unit, and as long as you purchase the correct harness for the vehicle side of things you'll be all set.
- Q: Could this be the ignition switch or switch wiring harness problem?
- I would certainly check the wire harness and the connections but it sounds more likely to be the ignition switch itself. An error that many people commit is to have too much weight on their ignition key ring, which often leads to premature switch failure.
- Q: All i can say is its a ford grey harness 6 wires, late 90s and below anyone have a clue what they are or maybe even someorange/blueblack/lt bluelt blueyellow/blackblackblack/orange
- is this from the aftermarket radio side? or from the ford side? if its from the ford side don't worry about it, its just extra wire for if they would of put a factory cd changer
- Q: I accidentally cut the stock wire harness piece out thinking, that i would just strip the wires and twist them in witht the coenciding colors to my Aftermarket radio, then none of the wires matched. And now all i see is to use a wire harness but that option is out since i cut the wires free from the small harness plug thing that was origanally attactched. any help would greatly be appreciated.
