- Q: I bought my wife a cd player for her car and the wiring harness I need says its only for a 1988-1999 model cavalier. Is it the same for an 02 model as well? Im sure it would be, but I need to make sure before I ge it. Thanks
- No, the 2000+ moved to a completely different radio size and harness design. Also, the factory radio is controlled by the vehicle's data bus system, and it generates the vehicle's audible warning chimes (key chime, lights left on, etc). If you don't mind losing the warning chimes, and doing a little extra wiring to connect an accessory power source to the new head unit, you can use a Metra 70-2003 harness. If you want to keep the chimes, or make the installation as easy as possible, and you don't mind spending more money, look for a Metra GMRC-01 or GMOS-01 adapter module.
- Q: I noticed my jetta has a wiring harness in the trunk. Can i use that to hook up my aftermarket amp and sub?if so how?thanks soooo much!
- You should not use the wiring harness in the trunk. I am guessing that you are refering to the wiring harness going to the amp for your Monsoon system. With any aftermarket amp and sub you are going to need much more power then what a stock amp is going to provide. That means to get the power you are going to need larger wire to deliver that power. You should go and get a wiring kit that can handle the amount of power your amp needs. Then just run the wire from the battery back to your trunk. You will also need to run a few other wires as well. If you keep the stock deck then you may be able to use the wires in the back to hook up a Line Out converter. That will connect to some speaker wires and give you an RCA output that will connect to your amp. Good Luck!!!
- Q: I have a U.S.-based company and we are putting together a new electronics assembly which requires a wire harness. What are the advantages of approaching sub-contractor for the development of a wire harness assembly in the U.S. versus in China or Mexico?
- Where you have them built is less important than the quality of the harness and whether they build it to spec. You will likely save money if you have it built outside the U.S. but, you also may face communication/cultural issues. One idea is to contract with a firm that has U.S. offices where the design and contracts are handled, but that also oversees manufacturing capability to keep costs down.
- Q: How much would a wiring harness cost for a 1994 plymouth duster
- well first off you need the RIGHT harness somewhere on the harness was a plastic tag that had that harness pin configuration on it. if your harness burnt the chances are it's gone. you don't state why you need one or what happend to yers but if it's just cut up you would be better off repairing it. other than that try a salvage yard they might not have cut all of theres then in most yards thats a pull it yerself item and it could cost betwqeen 30 and 100 dollars . you never should take the price of someone else as gosple , cause another man can't price the other mans treasures
- Q: Can someone give me a color coder for the wiring harness of a Toyota Corolla Factory Head Unit 2007 model CE? plz?
- dont cut any wires from your vehicle,go to any stereo shop and buy the harness for your vehicle then just put both of wire harness and just plug it to the harness that comes from the stereo then later you could always put the old stereo back.
- Q: i have a 1980 camaro with a 305 carburated im putting in a 383 carburated stroker can I use the same wiring harness. Thanks.
- No changes necessary - the harness will work as-is.
- Q: i have a 57 bel air and it needs to be re wired, and one shop i took it to said they would do it for a couple thousand, which i know is very vague but im assuming that means around 2 grand. he said hed put in a good wore harness/fusebox and rewire it properly and he is very trustworthy, and he said its around 30 hours of work to rewire the whole thing. whats a fair price for this? wire harness included (he said the ones he uses run 300-500 depending on which ones, and comes with a nice fusebox)
- The problem is that job is not listed in the labor estimating guide lol so basically your going to just get your best estimate and go with it. if it came to my shop i would remove the old harness and just build another one identical to it using new connectors where possible and using the original ones where needed. Keep looking around at different shops and keep in mind a dealership has its name to stand behind, the small guys only have there reputations and work, you might be surprised if you keep looking around you just might finds somebody that still enjoys what they do.
- Q: What is the benefit of the insulated wire?
- Yjv33 - XLPE insulated PVC sheathed fine steel wire armored polyethylene outer sheathed power cable. 33: the former 3 said the thin steel wire armor, after a 3 that polyethylene outer sheath
- Q: i have the wire harness but dont know how to or where to hook it up at
- Do you have both wiring harnesses that you need? You need one for your car and then one will come with the head unit you buy. If you have the wiring harness for your car and the wiring harness for the radio then you just need to connect the wires with the same colors together.
- Q: 1999 saab 95 do they make one for taking out the radio to put in a aftermarket
- Yes they make them. And I would advise using it, not cuttng the wires and hard wiring. The harness will be color coded to the aftermarket radios wire colors, so it will be simple to hook up and will plug right into the cars factory harness. That also leaves you the ability to put the factory radio back in if you sell the car later. The Metra part# is 70-1784. There are other brands available but I don't have part#'s for those. Any car audio shop should have one, just tell them what model and year of car. I think BestBuy carries the Metra part which I think is the best quality harness on the market.
